And no resident will say: “I am sick…”Isa 33:24. We can expect this to be a reality in the near future; perhaps you or I may see those missing from our lives due to sickness that leads to death. Prayers go out to the surviving family and friends.
In memory of Kim Dawson, I'm sending my heartfelt condolences to her loved ones and sharing a personal story... As a little girl, and throughout my growing up years in Dallas, my Mother often mentioned her friend, Kim Dawson. She always spoke of her with a personal pride and respect relating to her accomplishments with her Modeling Agency. I'm unsure how their lives were connected, although it's possible they met as young models in Dallas, or at Nieman Marcus in the 1950's. My Mother, Virginia Lea Leech, "passed away" May 2011 and for the past few months I've been reviewing her personal collection of photos, articles, and letters relating to her life. I realized there were "gaps" in the timeline of her life and my memories, and began some research. This has lead to some unexpected connections, including the mention of Kim's "passing" a few years ago. Today, I went online to get to know her better. It seems they both loved the fashion industry and were 1950's career women "in a man's world"....and I'm sure that was the basis of their common bond as friends. Due to my Mother's medical decline with vascular dementia, in 2006, I moved her from Dallas to Florida so we could be together. That's why I was unaware of Kim's passing, nor was my Mother. I can only imagine my Mother's surprise and her smile, when they met again in Heaven. Kim Dawson will always be a part of my cherished memories with my Mother. How wonderful, that Kim has such a loving family to carry on her Legacy...Sincerely, Vicki
Take comfort in knowing that now you have a special guardian angel to watch over you.
Our sympathies go out to the family for such a great loss.
Hello Dear Dawson Family,

Dr. Kim Vernon, please know that our prayers are with you and your family over the loss of your mother. She was and always will be considered a foremost pioneer in Dallas business history; for us she is foremost in our memory as your beloved mother. God be with all you and your family.
Dr Vernon my prayers are with in this time of sorrow. May God bless you and your family, Sincerly Sheila Brown back in the day @ St. Paul Hospital
I wanted to let you know how much I thought of your mother and how much she adored you. My mother, Libby Ralston also held your mother and sisters in high regard.Such wonderful memories you all have provided.
Our deepest condolences to George, Dr. Kim, Lisa, Tiger and the entire Dawson family. I have such warm and lasting memories of your wonderful mother; dating back from the Apparel Mart fashion shows to our annual Thanksgiving get-togethers. Kim was a truly special person who enriched the lives of everyone she met.
My deepest sympathies for your loss. I will always cherish the memories of the times our families spent together. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Dawson family during this time of grief.
One of my favorite childhood memories was when I was six and Kim taught me how to walk the runway in a fashion show at the Apparel Mart. She worked with my Dad, Laurie Burford and she invited me to be a part of the show. To this day, I still remember every detail of the day even twirling in a dress when I was really supposed to just walk.
I am sorry to her about your mother she was a very sweet lady. Have fond memories of the easter egg hunts running down the hill. She will be missed in so many way's.My prayers are with ya'll. Cheryl Branyon Vaughan(Dallas,Tx)
YOU WERE SO NICE TO MY SISTER: kIM RR THROUGH 1994; REALLY WERE AN INSPIRATION THROUGH HER DEATH. (MODEL IN 1980S AT CAMP AND SCHOOL).

am I the only one who remembers Kim when she was a teacher at Patricia Stevens -- (I think it was called either a modeling school or ?)
This was in the late forties or early fifties -- She taught us how to walk, how to wear makeup, etc. Her husband taught us fencing, etc. I have pictures of myself which she took to show our glamorous sides. I learned a lot from her -- now necessarily to become a model -- but to attain poise. self confidence, etc.
This is how she started on her road to fame.

The greatest Blessings are seen in the Fruits if ones children. Its remarkable to be a great doctor, Kim, we all know you through your daughter who has a heart of gold and who has the richest character we surely credit you for that. I've worked directly with Dr. Vernon for @ 25 years and I know and see your Spirit shining through her in Jesus. Margie Bayes
Kim made everyone feel important. Even the lowliest photographer trying to get a start. She lives on among us.
Our family is of great loss with Ms. Dawson, our Aunt Louretta Brackins spoke very highly of her during her years of illiness. We sincerely, want Lisa to know that we are in prayer with her forever. Barbara & Cassandra neice/s/...
I grieve with the Dawson family for their loss and rejoice with them about their future reunion. I am sorry that I wasn't aware of this sooner, but news from Texas travels slowly to the Midwest.
Kim, John, Lisa, Tiger and Mr. Dawson,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve the loss of your mother and wife. Kim and I were rommates at the University of Texas at Austin. I can remember the first time I met Mrs. Dawson and how impressed I was that she owned a modelling agency. It was the early 1970's,and at that time I didn't know any other women who had their own business. I heard the media refer to her as a "pioneer" and that she was. Not just in the modelling business but for women in general. Not only was she accomplished, she was a first class southern lady with impeccable manners and grace. I know that her family was her top priority as I witnessed how proud she was of all of her children.
We lost our 24 year old son, Winston in August of this year, and I know that these two beautiful souls will share a little piece of heaven. God Bless you all!
The First Lady of the modeling industry. Whenever anyone would come up to my photographer husband and declare, "I want to be a model," the first thing he would say was, "Go see Kim Dawson. She'll either encourage you...or make you feel fabulous even as she's suggesting "another line of work would be preferable." A true lady on all levels. It was our honor to have known and worked with her. Carol Booth, Greg Booth + Associates, Dallas
Kim came to Houston in 1974 to help me to open my Agency, the 1st Fashion Agency in the city. She told everyone that this was the chance of a lifetime, and really helped Houston and myself, to reap the rewards of being endorsed by Kim Dawson. I worked with Kim on many a market, and together we judged many a beauty contest. She was the greatest lady I ever knew in giving to others. She put the Southwest on the Fashion Map.
My deepest sympathy to all your famly, George, Lisa, Kim, and Tiger. Gerri Halpin Troy
Kim, we will miss your smile & kindness, you are my friend. George, may God bless you and enlarge your territory, for you are a good man. Lisa, stay strong, & to Janice, all my heart & may God keep you & all of you keep making others dreams come true.
May God Bless a Great Lady......Kim Dawson!
I only knew Kim as a young mother, when my grandmother watched Kim's kids and myself. But I have seen examples of her wonderful spirit and generosity. George, little Kim, Lisa and Tiger ... my heartfelt condolences.
James Lambert- Canton TX
I want to wish George, Kim, Lisa, and Tiger God's comfort during this time. Your wife and mother was a fabulous, loving lady, that everyone thought the world of. May God bless your family!
I offer the Dawson family my sincere condolences on the loss of your loved one. May the "God of all comfort" see you through this difficult time.
All of us who were apart of the Kim Dawson extended family are better people because of her! I say "family" because Kim inspired that kind of dynamic with her maternal warmth and generous spirit. She mentored talent that had staying power and empowered one with the will to succeed! Her passing is the end of an era; a very special one that I will forever cherish and feel so very blessed to have been apart of. Luckily she leaves her empire in the brilliant hands of her daughter Lisa and devoted husband, George. All my love and support so out to George, Lisa, Corine, and entire family! God bless you all. Rest in peace, Kim. Love, Marianne Green (Houston, TX)
In 1984 I LaBon French a young man from the eastcoast was met with the hospitality and warmth of Big-D AKA Kim Dawson, where she had bestowed great advice for a young model for which I took to heart and challenge myself to be unique for she had told me "use your French pronounation of your name, " For its different and unique "LaBon" I will treasure those words for she always knew how to encourage all that she can in touch within the business and her devoted family. Sweet memories always a Dallas Treasure. LaBon French of :
In 1978, Kim wrapped her arms around me, welcomed me to the "agency/family," and I will always feel and love her warmth! Including my wife and daughter, Kim is the reason I live in Big-D.
My family and I knew Kim Dawson and her family when I was a little girl. They were our neighbors in Lake Highlands and we use to go over to their house and play with their kids. My mother said she was such a sweet lady. Kim had a picture made of my middle sister back then and it was such a nice picture of her and she still has it to this day. I remember going to one of the modeling shows and thought how neat it was. She was a wonderful person and did so much for others. She will be missed. Sympathy to her family.
Prayers and love for Lisa, Tom, and Aidan and the rest of the Dawson family.
Kim Dawson was a tremendous force in my life in the 80's. From modeling with her agency, to moving over to KD Studio, to her daughter Kimsy delivering my son, to my husband building her last home in Lane Park. I will miss this beautiful lady and everything she gave to everyone that she touched. Rest in Peace Lovely Lady. To George, Kimsy, Tiger and Lisa, my sincere condolences.
Kim and I went to school together in Center, TX and I have many good memories of her. I loved her dearly.
George, Diane, Kimsey, Tiger and Lisa -
Heaven MUST have been missing an angel. Kim was such a wonderful wife, mother, step-mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. I have such wonderful memories of her. Always smiling, always selfless and always present. I loved how she couldn't talk to you without touching you. I wasn't family, but she always made me feel as if I were. I feel so lucky and blessed to have known and loved her, and to have been part of her world for a short while. My thoughts and prayers are with each of you and your families. The heavens are brighter today! My love to you all.
My partner & I met Kim 17yrs. ago at Parigi. She would come in for lunch at least 2 or 3 times a week & sat along the back banqette her favorite spot. Her smile & energy will remain with us forever.

Of all the people that have influenced me in my life, Kim Dawson started it all. When I asked who is that CoCo lady everyone talks about, she tenderly sat me down and explained who CoCo was and then suggested that I attend FIT which I did. Kim would wear the bizarre things I made for her and act like they were the finest of fashion. I can still remember the fashion show in the great hall when the models slid down slides in their beaded gowns and all the beads came cascading down the slide to the music of Aquarius by the Fifth Dimension.
Kim just went on like it was suppose to happen. So many stories such fun times. I am still in love with her.
Thanks,Kim. I love you.
Lisa I still remember the picture of you that your Dad took of you sitting in a
chair reading a book. Sweet.
My wife knew, worked with and admired Kim Dawson since she was a young child..
Thought I might post this for her in loving Memory... Our prayers are with the family..
Robert and Brecca-Preston Guenther and Family, Coppell, Texas
Even though Kim may have forgotten many of us, we will never forget her. She was always willing to help college students who wanted a career in fashion. She opened the door for us to all the wonderful opprtunities available in fashion. Without her support, I know I wouldn't have accomplished what I did.
Dallas has lost their Grand Dame.
Thank you, Kim.
I will never forget Kim Dawson . She was amazing and I was blessed to have been a model with the agency during the seventy's and eightys. My prayers are with the family. Dianne George Sztamenits, Fort Worth, Texas
George, when I go to the talent section I see you working at your desk and I want to hug you, I guess it would be the closest I could get to Kim herself. Lisa, we are all so proud o you and the way you run that massive ship, The Kim Dawson Agency.. Tiger and Kim, we grew up with stories of you. I never thought of the Agency as a ship before but it is, and has carried the dreams turned to successes of so many of us in the Talent division as well as the Beautiful People. I was the second one to sign with you to represent me. It was one of the best things I have done in my entire life..Starting in the Apparel Mart, in your tiny office...we would walk thru to our space, watching the likes of Larry Harmon, Angie's Dad, in the big room and found that they were friendly and wonderful as well as beautiful.. Kim, all these words and thoughts from people are exactly right. You, you made it all happen. You did make us believe in ourselves. You did make us know we are wonderful. And your amazing staff backed you up so we all stood taller, and nailed the next audition and brought "home" the booking to your delight (and when we didn't you still loved us). You will always walk by my side. So many changes, such growth, for all os us.. Peace to all of you. With love, Margie Herbert, represented by the Kim Dawson Agency.
My deepest sympathies to Kim's family and legions of loved ones, kin or friends. It was a pleasure and a privilege to have crossed paths on our life's journeys. God's speed.
A Kim Dawson Talent Agency alum.
My grandmother, Hazel Brown, who went to school with you, asked me to find you in the DallasNews. She and my grandfather, Dan, are doing well and living in Shreveport now. Everytime she talks of you, she lights up and says that you achieved your dreams... everyone of them that you all talked about and she is sooo proud of you! I am so blessed to have met you the few times I did attend market with Rah Rah, Hazel. You will never be forgotten! God Bless!
My condolences to George, Lisa and family. I will never forget the laughs and fun we had together. She was THE GREATEST!
May sweet memories heal your heart.
Lynn Flowers Sterling, Houston, TX
One of the kindest and sweetest ladies. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to be represented by your agency. Rest in peace. The angels are smiling with your presence.
Cenita Johnson, retired Model repped by The Kim Dawson Agency.
Thank you Kim, for being a part of our family; with your hectic schedule you always took time to shower our kids with love and affection. You were a gift to all who knew you.
Mark Matie (Dallas, TX)
For all the times Kim and her most efficient staff were a part of my life at first Joske's of Texas, and then later Laser Tech/The LTC Group, I will always be most grateful. She set the standard for both professionalism and graciousness. Her light still shines on at the agency, and may you all take comfort in knowing that she is in the most loving and blessed hands there are.
Like many other women, I was guided by Kim's genuine compassion and sagagious advice. Indeed she was my mentor, as she made me believe that anything was possible if I wanted it badly enough. To George, Lisa and her siblings I send my most sincere condolences. Kim not only leaves behind a wonderful family but also an amazing legacy.
Kathi Anderson Collins
