Davidson, Ghyrane Allen "G.A." Ghyrane Allen (G.A.) Davidson of Plano, Texas passed away, on April 22, 2013 after a lingering illness. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be missed by his loving family and many friends. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jean, his children, Allen (Martha) Davidson of Sugar Land, Texas, Patricia (Gerry) Sarver of Plano, Texas and John Davidson and his partner, David Burke of Duncanville, Texas, his four grandchildren, Laura and Matthew Davidson of Sugar Land, Texas and Caroline and Will Sarver of Plano, Texas, a sister-in-law, Pat Davidson of Sherwood, Arkansas. G.A. was preceded in death by his parents, D.C. and Margaret Davidson and his two brothers, Galan and Glenn Davidson. G. A. was born on November 23, 1931 in Independence County, Arkansas. One of his proudest personal achievements as a young man was the attainment of the rank of Eagle Scout in his Boy Scout Troop. He graduated from Jacksonville High School in Jacksonville, Arkansas in 1949 and married his high school sweetheart, Jean on August 3, 1950. After graduation for University of Central Arkansas with a BSE Degree in 1954, he began his long career with SBC and AT&T. He held various accounting, finance and information systems assignments in Little Rock, St. Louis, Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio and New Jersey. In addition, during the 1950's he served in both the Arkansas and Missouri National Guard units, attaining the rank of First Lieutenant. He also served on the board of Liberty National Bank in San Antonio. While there he served as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church, Chairman of the Board of Deacons as well as Sunday School Superintendent. While in Dallas, he served on the boards of the American Red Cross, The United Way of Dallas, The Dallas Historical Society, the YMCA of Dallas and the Community in Schools. Following his retirement, G.A. remained active in civic organizations, including AARP Tax Preparation, Reading mentoring to children, Plano Rotary Club, Financial Executive Institute, Dallas Chapter and the Plano Shrine Club. In addition, G.A. served for several years on the board of the University of Central Arkansas Alumni Foundation. He and Jean were active members of Custer Road United Methodist Church. G.A. will be remembered by his family with much love for the positive influence he had on their lives and by friends as a man of integrity and goodwill. The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to Sunrise of Frisco and Odessey Hospice. A private burial will take place at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco, Texas. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road, Plano, Texas 75023. For those who desire, memorial contributions may be made to University of Central Arkansas G.A. and Jean Davidson Scholarship Fund, Development Office, 201 Donaghey Avenue, UCA Box 4986, Conway, AR 72035-4986 or to Custer Road UMC Music Department.
