Herbert was a long time friend of my husband, Thorne Lee Hilborn. Our children called him uncle Herbert. One time when we were visiting, Herbert's cat was in the room sleeping on a chair. He told our kids to watch the cat. He was at the piano and he began to play. The cat raised it's head and looked at him. Then Herbert began to sing and the cat got up. It started towards the door. Herbert sang faster and the cat moved faster too. Herbert sang louder and the cat tore out of the room. My children thought that was the funniest thing they had ever seen. We loved Herbert and will always remember him fondly.
