I was saddened to hear of the passing of one of our veteran Sky Troopers. WO3 Garner's contribution and professionalism set a standard for our young battalion. The 229th Aviation Battalion fought in Vietnam for six years and distinguished itself in 16 major campaigns earning three Presidential Unit Citations, the Valorous Unit Award, a Meritorious Unit Commendation, four awards of the Republic of Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, and a Republic of Vietnam Civil Action Medal. Two of our pilots earned the Medal of Honor during actions "Andy" was involved in. The battalion returned from Vietnam as the most decorated Army aviation unit from that war. We are proud to call Andy one of our own. Hank Llewellyn. 229th AHB. Vietnam.

Andy was one of the kindest people I have ever known. As a client of his, he helped me to find my way after my husband's death. I will always remember him. Andy, I will always miss you.

My younger sister Mary and I were always so excited when Uncle Andy and Aunt Aileen came to visit us. They'd always arrive with a carload of treats, home movies, and their little dachsund, Johnny Reb. Uncle Andy was always a handsome hero to me, one of the best memories of my childhood. I'm glad he had a long, happy, and successful life and lived to see his daughter and grandchildren grow up. May he walk in peace in the Otherworld.

To our handsome, gentle Uncle Andy: You are our hero and loved so much by us all!
