Mr. Ferguson was my 5th grade teacher at the old Rylie school. He was undoubtedly the greatest mentor and teacher that I ever had in my twelve years as a student. I remember very fondly of the many Saturdays that he would happily take a bunch of kids on a bus to the Dallas Music Hall to watch our first ballet and the Dallas Symphony. He taught us respect and how to behave in public. He even gave us a history lesson by taking us to the Majestic theater to see Gone With the Wind. He was also very intelligent and treated every pupil the same because we all loved him. I'm sorry that I didn't get a chance to tell Mr. Ferguson what an incredible impact he had on my life that I didn't receive at home. Thank you and my sincere condolences to Lawanda and her family.

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm just learning of this. Mr. Ferguson was a very special teacher and made such a lasting impact on so many of us at JQA. He put up with our pranks so good -naturedly! We used to pile rocks against the back door of his portable, knock on the door, and run. He had to know it was us! I will always have good memories of him! He treated every student like they were each his favorite.

I do believe this to be the same Mr. Ferguson I had as a social studies teacher back in the late 1970's at John Quincy Adams Elementary. Rest in peace, sir.
