I remember Mike fondly. He and I were on the track team together at Belton High School. RIP.

Mike was a good friend beginning at Austin College and continuing through our years together in Temple, Texas. We played golf together, raised families near each other, shared many a beverage together, laughed, and probably cried some together. He was truly one of a kind, a larger than life type. Mike was the eternal optimist about everything whether it was making the next putt to win the press or being successful in his next business venture. If you knew him you could not help but like him. I was very blessed and feel honored to have called him my friend. My sincerest thoughts and condolences go out to all in his family and his wide circle of friends.

From 12 years of public school and four years of Austin College, I have lots of memories of Mike - mainly about transportation. In our senior year at Belton Hish School, we had the same study hall. We both skipped out and he drove me up to Mary-Hardin Baylor College (as it was then) to look up info to help me write my valedictorian speech. And then, when he was allowed to have his car at Austin College, he was nice enough to give me rides to Belton for holidays. We didnt have much in common and very few friends in common, but he was very gracious and friendly on these trips home.
