I knew Joe, as he and his wife were Holy Family Associates with our Sisterhood. May he rest in the peace Jesus. I will say a prayer for his soul.

He was a great man. Glad to have known him.

I have been a parishioner of St. Thomas Aquinas since 1982 and really got to know Mr. Mehan (he was always Mr. Mehan to me) through Scouting. He mentored me for many years during his tenure as the Chairman of the Diocese of Dallas Catholic Committee on Scouting. Our 3 Eagle Scout sons greatly benefited from his contributions to the White Buffalo District and the DDCCS. He was a fixture at Cub Fun Day and many a Cub Day Camp He and Mr. Duca (RIP) always ran the woodworking station. It was the loudest (hammers) and the quietest (busy Cubs not talking at all) station all at once! And the songs they would sing! This was back in the day when we had ALL DAY Day Camp running from 9 am to 4 pm. They worked so hard and I was always happy and relieved when they would agree to staff for me! Joe always took care of cooking lunch for Cub Fun Day (for staff and participants too!). He taught me so much about Catholic Scouting and how to run a religious emblems program. I was part of the prayer group that he and Mrs. Mehan were part of at St. Thomas Aquinas and they were always gracious and delightful to everyone. My husband is a Fourth Degree Knight in 799 and enjoyed Mr. Mehan's company as well. He will be greatly missed! I am praying for the happy repose of his soul and for consolation and peace for his entire family. Dear Fr. Joseph, the rosary was so moving and lovely. I am so sorry I was not able to attend the Mass of Christian Burial. God love you all.
