In Nov of 1951 joe threw me a TD pass in the end zone at Ebbetts Field to win the Brooklyn PSAL championship. Boys High School finished undefeated in large part to Joes arm and my hands. My life was forever blessed from that day forward and Joe will always be part of it.

I played baseball for him in the 60's at St. Gregory's Juco. He also coached HS football and I remember him as a tough, but fair, no nonsense coach! We need more like him today!!

I remember Coach Joe fondly. I was your neighbor and often the babysitter in Seminole many years ago. I also helped him teach swimming lessons for which my pay was his teaching me to dive. He was a great man who inspired his students to do more than we thought possible. My thoughts are with you, Naomi, and your children.

My dearest friend, Naomi, I just learned of Joe's death, and am angry that we never had the chance to sit around together with y'all and know one another. I still have pictures from your wedding.
I am praying for you.
Much Love,
Jane Powell
