Back in 1970-71 I played for a Pee Wee league team called the Shamrocks and Mr. Holton was my coach. While going through some boxes today I found an old baseball I have kept for decades. It was given to me and signed by Coach Holton. I have kept it all these years because Coach Holton had an amazing impact on my life. At an early age he taught me valuable life lessons that I remember to this day. I am forever grateful for his caring attitude while coaching sports. He was more interested in the character development of those he coached rather than the outcome of the game. I would see him many times in my adult life at the store, post office, or just walking down the street. He always remembered me and had a warm greeting and a smile. There are few men that have left a lasting impression on me and Coach Holton was certainly one of them. I will always remember his kind words and his sincere caring that he always showed. He will be missed here on earth but I know I will get to see him again soon. Thanks for all you did for me coach! You were truly one in a million.
