Keith was a dear family friend for many decades since perhaps the 60s. He graced me, my mom, Susan Brown and dad, Richard Brown with sincere but superb friendship. I always admired his wife, Gaye and I must admit I asked them if I could come live with them when I was probably 10. He grinned and said he was flattered but my parents would probably be upset and I should remain steadfastly, at home for my best upbringing! I was disappointed but everyone but me was smiling at his candor!

I tracked him down a few years ago seeking a translation of some text on a Japanese poster. He obliged and we had an excellent lunch at Thai Thai on lowest Greenville Ave.. With his ghost now, I continue to dine.

I sought him out today to return a shakuhachi (flute) to him at the request of my (now deceased) mother to be given to him upon her death. I was shocked to find his phone disconnected which brought me to the obit section and you can guess the rest.

Thank you Keith for a wonderful friendship!
Now there are only tears and time..

He was my neighbor for 20+ years, and a dear friend for 30 years. He was a sincere, talented gentleman, and a willing confidante. He is now with Gay and his mom, laughing, telling stories, and exploring new places. I loved him dearly. It may sound cliche, but it is true; they don't make them like him anymore. Bon voyage, myfriend.

Keith was not only inspired by Japan, he inspired others with his enthusiasm. The same can be said of Keith's joyful embrace of life, and of the fine example he set in treating everyone with kindness and respect.
There are too few men who are truly gentlemen and scholars. Kieth was both a gentleman and a scholar of the highest order. His loss is a great one to his friends and to our community.
