My first memories of Lloyd and his twin brother Charlie and sister Betty was in 1946/1947 when I was 8 years old, 4 yrs younger than then the twins....My parents and their parents, "Big Lloyd and Liz" had been close friends sine the "30's"...We lived in Oak Cliff at that time and I remember taking the street car many times by myself at age 8 from Oak Cliff to where they lived on St Johns and Hillcrest in Highland Park, (which by the way ran up to SMU and turned around)... to spend the weekend and helping Lloyd and Charlie deliver the Dallas Morning News riding their Serve Cycle motor bikes.....They would also take me on the street car, that had a stop across the street from their home, to the Knox street theater for movies...The one movie I remember most was "The Outlaw" with Jane Russell.....Our parents got a hoot out of that one and they never forgot it.....Also trips to Cripple Creek, CO and Ruidoso, NM when one summer in 1951 we got a summer job at a bowling alley setting up pins when Big Lloyd and Liz had a cabin on the river in Ruidoso's Upper Canyon...Also much later as an retired American Airlines pilot I was honored to be able to fly on their plane from Addison airport to the Ruidoso Sierra Blanca airport and being able to get some "seat" time....I could on and on about more remembrances....Thank you for reading just some of my memories........Peyton Campbell lll
