I am so sadden to know that I didn't hear about Dr. Freeman's death. To the family, I offer my condolences. God bless you!

I am deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Marcus A. Freeman, Jr. has passed away. Dr. Freeman stood among the tennis community's greatest. Through the pages of Black Tennis Magazine, he tirelessly dedicated himself to saluting and chronicling achievement in the sport at all levels, throughout the nation and beyond. Since 1977, his publication has served as a journalistic foundation upon which the African-American-led tennis community can stand with a great sense of pride: an enduring legacy.
It has been my privilege to serve as a contributing writer for Black Tennis Magazine. Via emails and telephone communications, Dr. Freeman provided me with invaluable advice and guidance in preparing articles. I will always be grateful for his guidance, patience and kindness. My deepest condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and students of this distinguished and beloved gentleman.
