Although I was never a student in Margareta's classes at SMU, I had the good fortune to meet her through friends. I was always touched how she would recognize and greet me and others when we would cross her path on campus. She always made time for an uplifting conversation, no matter the time of the day or season of the year. Ruhe in Frieden, unser geliebter professor, mentor, und freund.

Even though I was not a student in her classes while attending SMU, I met Professor Deschner through friends, and was always touched that she would greet me warmly and easily strike up a conversation whenever I might run in to her on campus. She was and continues to be an inspiration.

Frau Deschner was an outstanding teacher and role model. I wish I had known more of her history when I was majoring in German 1964-68. Ruhe Sanft!
