My family and I are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of our beloved Martha Hyder. To say that Martha was special to us would be an understatement. Martha first came into our lives when my father won the Van Cliburn Competition in 1973. As his host family in Texas, and one of the driving forces behind The Cliburn and the arts in Texas and America, she soon became family to all of us. I was born 3 years later and from the very beginning, she was literally my Texan Fairy Godmother. Martha was there at every important turning point for our family as our lives changed before our eyes. We spent our first American Christmas with the Hyders in their home in Fort Worth. My first experience of Mexico was when Martha invited us to stay with her at her estate in San Miguel de Allende, a place and the people she loved and supported so much. It was truly magical and gave us some of our fondest family memories, even today. And although we havent been in close touch in the latter years, our love and adoration for her has never wavered. We want to send our condolences, our love and our prayers to Whitney, Brent, Elton and the entire Hyder family. We love and miss you all! R.I.P Martha, you live on in our hearts forever.

Whitney and Brent,
There's a wide hole in this world because your Mom went to heaven. I hope they let her decorate!! She was such an inspiration for me and was so sweet and kind to me, I will never, ever forget your mother!! Especially when I look at my collections! I always thought of her so often. "Coolest" lady on the planet!
Love,
Rebecca Collins
