In 8 days I will turn 75 years old. I think of Dr. Anderson frequently. She will always be a most admired and loved woman in my life.
Forgive me, but we were friends, so to me she will always be "Pamela". When we met in her Dallas office, it was immediate the complete trust and confidence I found with her. She knew I had suffered since I was 9 years old with gynecological issues, we shared many similarities.

In November 1993, Dr. Anderson and Cyndi found my uterine cancer arranging a complete hysterectomy with Dr. Lifshitz assisting the day before Thanksgiving. I knew in her hands I would be fine. I am.

We continued our friendship as we became confidants as her children grew up attending some of the same private schools my child attended. Her mother and I would look on with tears as Pamela proudly watched these babies grow up, cherishing every age and stage.

I moved to Austin, time and circumstances kept me from keeping in touch the last few years of Dr. Anderson's beautiful life. I always knew she loved me as I loved her; we were lucky to find each other. As career women devoted to family, while struggling to keep up with all of our responsibilities.

Today I had to add my words to these many devoted friends and patients, knowing we ALL feel lucky to have been blessed with her in our lives.

Like so many others I am learning of Dr. Anderson's passing years after it happened. She made such a special contribution to my life and I think of her and tell stories of my appointments often. I will never forget arriving at her office with elephant ankles and her springing into action. I told her I left my office in a mess and needed to at least go back and straighten things up, to which she replied she didn't care if a hurricane hit my office, that I was going home on bed rest. My son was born 5 weeks early on Thanksgiving Eve after a difficult pregnancy. At 5 p.m. the night of his birth she came and apologetically told me that she had her kids that evening for Thanksgiving dinner and wanted to have dinner with them, but that I would be in good hands. I cannot help but admire her strong love for her children and her dedication to set aside work for her family. I don't recall ever having an appointment with her that she didn't tell me about her kids. She was so proud of them. Thanks to her care of me I delivered a healthy child. I have missed her since she quit practicing at Presby and know I will never have a better doctor.
