Maggie was my tour guide in Ireland in 2015 and made sure I was able to branch off and teach a class at the Ballymaloe Cookery School. She made it all easy for me and was a wonderful human being, knowing her Irish history well. I was going to send her my new Irish American Cooker Clinic cookbook I have just published from that trip and cannot believe we have lost her. I am so sorry for her family and would like to express my sympathy to all. Barbara Harper Bach, Bluegrass Cooking Clinic, Lexington, Ky.

Maggie was such a good-hearted person and had such a love of travel. I had the good luck of a visit from her years ago in Austria. We hiked and laughed and drank plenty of beer. The locals still ask about "die Lustige" (the fun one). My thoughts and prayers are with her parents and everyone who was close to Maggie.

My condolences and heartfelt sympathy in the loss of your daughter Peggy. Whereas I only got to know her briefly it was as if I had know her all my life as she was such a beautifully soul with the greatest of hearts. I prayed with her at the new home while installing all of her Audio Video equipment just before she was to make a trip. I will be praying for GODS strength for you all during this time.

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Hillig,
I was privileged to a have a few brief conversations with the lovely Miss Peggy while she was waiting to meet with Ms. Kathleen at our real estate office. Peggy was so charming and we definitely shared a love for travel and meeting new people. After 20 years as a flight attendant I could easily recognize someone with the gift of wanderlust and I so enjoyed hearing her traveling stories. I am so very sorry for your loss. I am sending my sincere condolences to the family. May you find comfort in this thought found at Isaiah 61:1,2 which reads in part" God sent his son to bind up the brokenhearted and to comfort those who mourn."

Lived in Pat Ormsby's house with Peggy so very many years ago....was so very saddened to hear of her passing. Her laugh (and we had many of them) was infectious and I shall always remember her in that way.

So very sorry for your loss. Maggie's passing is a loss for all of us. As mentioned, she was a genuine person, very grounded, and with a fine tuned, piercing, wit. I so enjoyed seeing her laugh, or even that wry smile that came with some of her insightful, spot-on, humorous observations of life in its oddness. Always with an eye sparkle! And always with genuine care and understanding. Maggie will be missed in many, many lives.

Mr and Mrs Hillig my deepest condolences. I think I am the only person who still calls Margaret by her formal name which she was called at Holy Rosary school where we first met in 6th grade. Margaret was leaning on a wall cracking jokes rolling her eyes at the absurdity of being transferred from her school that closed. All these years later we are stlll friends who still cracked each other up. My sons always looked forward to her visits to NY. Margaret we love you and this isn't goodbye, it's "see you later!"

I attended Holy Rosary School in New York with Maggie many years ago. We became re-acquainted via Facebook about a year ago. I enjoyed some of our chats-- especially about planning a 40-year reunion of our Holy Rosary Class of '76! She never let on that she was ill. I don't know if her parents will remember me-- there were a few sleep-overs at her house-- but I do remember them, especially Mrs. Hillig, who cheerfully carted us around in her Volvo on many occasions. I am so, so deeply sorry for their loss, and wish them peace and God's blessing in the coming days.

I worked with Maggie for twelve years at Presbyterian Plano. Always missed her when she was on tour, but loved hearing of her adventures when she returned. All of the nurses wanted to go with her "next time." She was a wonderful physical therapist, a great teacher, a gentle soul. I am so happy that she had so many exciting adventures. I love the beautiful picture you have chosen, Maggie and the tiger! Maggie was an absolute joy. We will miss her greatly. My very deepest sympathies.
