Dear Donna and Family,
I just learned of Richard's passing today from a co-worker. It was an honor and a blessing to have known Richard when we worked together on LBJ in Dallas. He had the greatest smile and had quite a zest for life which I know is not news for anyone who has read this guestbook. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this difficult time.
Peace be with you-
Susan

I keep reading this obituary like it is a bad dream. Richard aka Dickey and I were friends as long as I can remember. I keep looking at his picture trying to find words to say about Dickey. I know that I loved him as a friend. He was always so moody. We would have the biggest fights and he would be upset, but that did not stop him from coming every morning to get a ride to school. Some mornings he wouldn't come in the house but would sit out in the cold in my grandmother's car waiting. We would come out and nobody said a word to each other and my grandmother would drop us off at school. I last saw Dickey about 12 years ago and that was the first time I had seen him in 20+ years. In a few minutes we were able to catch up on a few things. I remember noticing how much he had matured. I enjoyed our conversation so much. He had become quite a young man and I was happy to call him friend. The tears come as I look at his picture because we had so much fun growing up in Fairview. Rest well my friend.

Donna, My deepest sympathy to you and your family's. My heart goes out to you. Richard was so full of life. I can still "hear" his laugh even though I haven't heard it in a couple of years.

Richard was just a great person and touched every one of us that he came in contact with. His smile, laughter and unwavering optimism will always be remembered.

With Deep Sympathy to Donna and the Akers Family. May beautiful memories of life lived to its fullest linger and the shadow of pain be lessened each passing day.
