Well the end came that I feared. It has been ten years since I spoke to Richard. For about ten years of my life I was a devotee at almost his every seminar. I have about 30 of his tapes. He quit teaching about 2005. I visited him once and spoke on the phone once afterwards. He ignited a new passion in me for Christianity and the Catholic church. His encyclopedia memory was astonishing. Never spoke a false fact. He made the history of the church and the movements and principals come to life. I matured as a christian and went forward and enjoyed teaching and visiting Italy. He undoubtedly is one of the most influential people in my life. I did not know of his passing until today as I was perusing some of his many outlines like, "Torah, Torah, Torah". I still have a good vision of this brilliant man of God! I have much of his teachings in my mind and physical tapes and printed material. Gone to a higher calling....but he left his mark on so many of our souls. What a wonderful human being and giver to others!

Fr. Weaver believed that the Spirit wants us to use the gifts of our minds to mature our religious faith. His teaching was ultimately to that end. After I'd been attending classes for some time, my son once said, "Mom, you are a different person than 5 yrs. ago." When we relocated back to TX, dear friend Marge Caesar loaned some of her taped classes to me which I'd missed. My library of all is a treasure. Fr. freed us from the extremes of right and left thinking. Learning is a liberator and Richard and his teaching ministry were a great gift to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.

As a young child I remember my father sharing the news of the sad and untimely death of Richard's father. In 1951 I became a classmate of Richard and remained so until our high school graduation in 1956. Thereafter our connections would be via telephone and at occasional class reunions. Memories of his humor, keen intellect, and compassion for all will remain forever.

Fr. Weaver was such an outstanding scholar of the scriptures and communicator of their meaning to the Catholic community. He is greatly missed.
