I was privileged to work in the APA under Bob's leadership. The group of pilots of that era worked diligently to better the the working environment of the pilot, improve the safety for eryone in the airplane and keep the company profitable. Though it seemed that management thought of us as adversaries, Bob kept the course and knew that a profitable airline was also the goal of the APA. His job was difficult but he accomplished it with honesty, diligence and untold hours of plain hard work. It was an honor to have worked with such a man and to be part of his team. Jim Hopper

As good friends, Bob and I go back to the very early days of our careers at American Airlines when we were the first "new hires" to be elected to The Allied Pilots Association Negotiating Committee. We worked together on the same side of the table for many years until we each followed separate yet parallel paths, Bob rising through management of the Allied Pilots Association and I through the management of American Airlines Flight Department. We continued that early friendship even though we now sat on opposite sides of the negotiating table. I had the utmost respect for Bob's work at APA. As the President of APA, Bob was able to fill the shoes of Nick O'Connell, the Association's founder, more so than any other president of the Association. Bob was truly a fair and honest man. He was an outstanding natural aviator. My fondest memory of Bob will always be that he and I were friends.

So sorry to read that Bob has left us. I have many memories of him in the Bartlesville School System.
