I met Mr. And Mrs. Elsner after I became friends with their daughter Susan. Susan and I met at band school (Permian High). We became fast friends, and I was lucky enough to spend time at Susan's home. Her parents were the best. I had some red pants at that time, and Mr. Elsner always called me "Cindy red pants" He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to Susan and Phil. Your father was a great man. My son and son-in-law serve in the military, of which I am very proud.Mr. Elsner was one of the "greats" serving our country, and our community. Love to the family??

Roy was my first employer, as I returned to Odessa from college and worked with him and Essie as they formed KQIP FM. He then encouraged me to use my skills as a staff member at the Odessa Chamber of Commerce where he was an active volunteer. After several years there, I then served several Texas local Chambers, returning to Odessa as their Chamber CEO, only to find that Roy was to become my Chairman of the Board. After retiring from the Chamber profession at the state Chamber in Austin, I made a list of outstanding community leaders I had worked with in my career, and Roy Elsner was very near the top of that list.

Roy Elsner was one of a kind; an gentleman who selflessly worked for the good of his family and his community; always seeing the good in everything and everybody. He helped make this world a better place.

It was a great privilege to have known him and work for him many, many, (and many) years ago.

Prayers to Phil and Susan and the Elsner family.

May his legacy continue on.

We offer our deepest condolences to the Elsner family in this difficult time. I enjoyed knowing Mr. Elsner and looked forward to seeing him at VM events and with Phil. He was fun, interesting and a delight to be around. He will be deeply missed.
