To Steve's family...may those great memories help sustain you over the time to come. Steve was a true friend of mine for almost 50 years. He always had that boyish grin, and yes, he loved to laugh. He was also warm and compassionate. We exchanged letters during college, and I remember dancing with him at the Playboy Club on college breaks. As do many long term friends, we went our separate ways after graduation. But, over the past 15+ years, I had enjoyed periodically meeting him and several of our school friends at Via Real. (Thank God, he never brought that darn snake!) He was a great talker on religion as well as politics...and everything else. He spoke often of spending time with his dad and truly appreciated Catherine's care of their mother.

Stephen Marshall Smith, may you rest in peace. However, it was NOT time to go on that rowboat!!!

Love and miss you,

Stephen, I always told, both you and your Dad, that you were my very best male friend.

We had hundreds of lunches together, you took me many places, took my girls to things they would probably never got to attend. We talked for hours, mostly about your trips, girl and friends you met along the way and boy did we talk politics. We were always on different sides.

You would come into my office, bringing our lunch (pizza a favorite) and have that stupid snake wrapped around your neck under your shirt collar. I would see your shirt move, jump up and yell at you to get rid of that snake. You would think that was the funniest thing in the world. Next, you would wrap that snake
around a chair leg and wait for the postman. If he saw the snake, the poor guy would jump and you would just laugh and laugh. We laughed a lot Steve. I remember the time you took me into Hooters. I just looked around and you just laughed.
I have wonderful memories. You were the brother I never had. No one ould have been better than you.
I love you and I miss you so, but I know I once again, will laugh with you in Heaven. Just wait for me, it's wont be long.
