Steve was a darling! I met him a very long time ago at a John Denver concert and almost immediately fell in love with him. What an absolute sweet wonderful guy. Talented, funny and as handsome as it gets. The planet is a less bright place without him here. I can only hope I meet with him again on the other side. Love you Steve!

I just learned this week (Nov 6, 2023) that Steve had passed away in 2014. Steve became a friend for such a brief time following a John Denver Tribute concert in Grand Rapids Michigan in 2012. In the days after the concert we got better acquainted and talked about a lot of things really important to him as he was reinventing himself. One thing he shared with me was this, "I want to be remembered as someone who finally took the trouble to try to reach people, Terrance. And who succeeded in that." You did, Steve! I will treasure our brief friendship, always. Peace my friend, Terrance Merriman (Michigan and Texas)

It was nice to see this today . I remember Steve today as I do every day I have a picture of him and John Denver in my den and a picture of when I met Steve in Aspen. I see him every day when I come in the door. I would like his family to know how special he was to me how many lives he touched. And I am always so thankful that our paths crossed and that I was able to talk to him and spend time with him, special moments . .memories I'll treasure forever. He will never be forgotten. My mother passed away in November 2018 and I had told her about Steve. I told her to find him when she got to heaven, that she would love him! Thanks, love & blessings.

I jammed with Steve many times, and I was always struck by the fact that I sounded better when I played with him...not just because I had to bring my A game, but because he was selfless in his play. He was adept at playing behind others less talented and making them sound better.

Dear Steven, Thanking you from the bottom of our hearts for the times you came to Chatham, New Jersey, to grace us with your beautiful, unforgettable performances of John Denver's songs (and your own beloved song, "Christmas for Cowboys"), alongside Reverend Shawn Garvey. Those performances in the church were magical and joyful. You brought the music to life again in your own unique style, with your winning combination of incredible musicianship and goofy sense of humor. Those concerts will live forever in our hearts, as will you. Happy Trails
