The man was an important part of my growing up in the US Navy. I will miss him.

You had a huge impact on my life when I was a young man in the Navy starting out. I'll never forget.."If ya got time to lean, ya got time to clean," or " Everyday's a holiday, every meal's a banquet." You influence went far. Thank you, Sir. Rest your oars.

What a great guy he was. I showed up to the USS Will Rogers, a brand new Ensign and he always watched out for me, getting other LPOs to help me qualify. Thanksgiving 1985 he invited me to go to Dallas and stand on the sidelines to see his Cowboys. I didn't do it and it has been one of my life's lasting regrets! RIP my friend, a life well lived!
