CALLAN, Valerie Patak Valerie Patak Callan of Altamonte Springs, FL, died on September 23, 2018 in Orlando, FL surrounded by family. She had recently celebrated her 85th birthday with her family. Valerie was born in Ennis, TX, to Willie and Annie (Parma) Patak. Valerie graduated high school from Our Lady of Good Counsel Academy and married Francis P. Callan in Dallas. Her husband's work in aerospace engineering re-located the family to Cincinnati and then to the Central Florida area in 1963, where they raised their family of eight children. After a 23-year hiatus, Valerie returned to the workforce at Rollins College in Winter Park, FL. She attended night school at Rollins, earning a degree in Accounting. After graduation, Valerie remained at Rollins as a Senior Accountant in the Finance Department until her retirement. She remained an active member of St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church in Altamonte Springs, FL, the Catholic Counsel of Women, and other ministries since 1963. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Frank, and their eldest son, Edward. She is survived by their children, Ann, Monica, Lori, Tom, Meg, Jim (Walley), and Dan (Julie), daughters-in-law, Anne Heideck and Alison Yurko; and four grandchildren, Delaney, Claire, Paige, and Matthew. She is also survived by three brothers, Bernard (Adell) Patak, Raymond (Judy) Patak, and Paul (Betty) Patak, all from the Dallas area, and a large family of nieces, nephews, and cousins (Pataks and Parmas). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at 9am at St. John's Catholic Church in Ennis, TX, with a reception to follow at the Knights of Columbus in Ennis at 10am.
