Such an amazing talent and a warm and gracious human being. I met Mr. Cliburn at La Piazza in Fort Worth several years ago while he enjoyed time/dinner with friends at his favorite spot in the bar. He always enjoyed hearing of my trip adventures and always asked to hear about the latest any time I saw him. I have missed those visits since moving to Palm Springs several years ago. He contributed so much to so many and will be sorely missed. Rest in Peace Van Cliburn...

My first concert was in New York when he came to play at a local college, under a tent. It was remarkable, i was young but immediately entranced and when my father took me back to meet him and he shook my hand, with the biggest hands i had ever seen, i was mesmerized and knew i would be a fan forever. Years later, i was fortunate enough to see him play in Texas. those memories have stayed with me all these years.
