Max was as good of a man as I have ever known and a true friend through thick and thin. I just found you have crossed the River my old friend. Thanks for all you did for Texas and Coastal Fishing. It would have been very different if you had not stood strongly for bay and offshore issues.Your voice and pen were instrumental opening Cedar Bayou and Vinson's Slough in Aransas County near Rockport, Texas which restored 78,000 acres of pristine wetlands and seven bays systems.Helping restore this area saved the sport fishing which crashed due to an illegal closure of Vinson's Slough twice which had a million yards of sand illegally dumped to kill the natural fish pass. The opening also saved the Whooping crane population in the Coastal Bend.

78,000 acres of wetlands is 25,000 times what any Federal Agency has attempted to restore in an entire years national budget. You were always there to tell the truth about the largest illegal man made environmental disaster in Texas History.

Debra and I along with tens of thousands of Texans will sorely miss you my friend.
