Coach Dykes, next to my father, was a role model and a mentor that influenced my life and those of us that were fortunate to have played for him. Forty eight years later I can honestly say we were better men because of him. Please accept my condolences.

5Now may the God who supplies endurance and comfort grant you to have among yourselves the same mental attitude that Christ Jesus had, 6so that unitedly you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ
Please find comfort in the meantime find comfort from god

WHAT A MAN! I was a student at Tech the year he took them to the Cotton Bowl. We made a sign that read A-ALREADY B-BOUND for C-COTTON, because it was going to be broadcast on ABC. Coach Spikes saw the sign in the window of my car on campus and left a note on my car that read "Thanks for believing in our Red Raiders. I love our students and their loyalty." Signed, Coach Dykes. I later found out that it really was him that wrote the note and I still have it to this day. LOVE YOU and will miss you TERRIBLY.
