I had the pleasure of playing summer league ball with Danny in Worcester back in the late-70's/early 80's. When he joined the team, he immediately replaced me at guard...and - for the first time in my life - being replaced by someone didn't bother me at all. I didn't care because: a) he was clearly the better player; and b) he never acted like he was the better player. Danny was a pleasure to watch out on the court, but more importantly he was a pleasure to be around off it.
Unfortunately, I lost touch with Danny after I left the Worcester area in '82, and it is a shame that I didn't know he was in the New York area and working with several of my friends at Cantor Fitzgerald.
I hope that the memories that cause his family and friends such pain and sorrow today will someday bring a smile to each and every one of their hearts. And I pray that their "somedays" come soon.

Reading the entries so far just reinforces the fact that Dan, was indeed a great person to have in your life.

You were 6'2" and 160#....but you had 7'0" and 300# of confidence. More than your tremendous athletic ability, I will always remember you for the sheer presence you had. Thanks for looking after me in college.

It didn't matter if you were hitting homeruns at Mosely School during our marathon wiffle ball games, that lasted most summers as kids. Or working as alter boys at Blessed Sacrament. (I can imagine the smile Father Kroyak greeted you with) You were a friend to everyone.

I last met up with you some years ago at a High School Re-union. I had the pleasure to meet Kathy, and was not surprised to see that a great kid had grown into a great adult. Your kids will not have to go far to hear all kinds of stories about how many people you have affected in so many positive ways.

God Bless you, and the entire Trant Family!

You were the oldest friend I had in this world. We lost each other in life and recently found one another thru fate. I'm so glad we had the chance to "hook up" again, if only thru e-mail. May God bless your wife and children. I'll see you again someday.

P.S. Are you finally at least trying to play some defense up there?!

T0 "Dan The Man"

You have been by my side through good times and bad.I will cherish all those times forever. I am a lucky one to have known you and shared my life with you. We may not be blood, but you are my brother. I will always be there for Kathy, Jess, Daniel ,and Alex. Just as you were always there for me, Shawn, Michael, and David. Dan your legacy will last till the end of time. I love you and will miss you so very much. I can hear you now, "Don't worry Les,It'll be o.k." And your thought for each day, "Work like you don't need money,Love like you've never been hurt,And dance like no one's watching.
Danny, May you experience Eternal Peace.

you will be in my heart forever.

P.S. O.K. really how is Lenny's game? Are you giving him a few {ha ha} of your pointers?

Dearest Dan, Dad and I have loved you these forty years, You've been the source of such great pride and joy; I hope you knew that. We'll miss you more than words can say, but we know that you're with God, (and probably playing hoops with Michael and Ryan.) " Goodnight, sweet prince, and may flights of angels sing thee to thy place of rest." Mom

Dan, you wouldn't believe all of the people that have surfaced from so many times and places in your life during the past few weeks...people we haven't seen in years!

You always did have a special talent for bringing people together and providing a lot of laughs, jokes and good stories...that talent of yours is still very much at work...

We have been remembering you so fondly and with such great memories, that it is still so hard to believe that you aren't here with us...but then again, you are.

May God bless you, my brother...and given the loving, caring life you led during your short time here, I know that he will.

We love you and miss you, bro...

Until we see each other again...

Love, Matt

P.S. - How's Len Bias' game?
