I grew up in Lost Creek Pa,south of Ringtown by about 5 miles. My uncle Harry Carey who when young played against Danny and he took me and introduced me to Danny and Ron Northy (Mahoney City) who were barnstorming thru the coal regions playing local all star teams. What a great memory of him as I remember him givng me baseball tips. Both he and Ron were super nice and great ball players and men. Jack Carey Camp Hill pa formally of lost Creek Pa

I used to go to his baseball camps at Michigan State in the mid-late '70s. It was always a special week. After the morning sessions some of us would hang around the field and Danny would tell us stories about the old St. Louis Gashouse Gang and playing with Pepper Martin. He was a wonderful story teller and he had a special quality that made people feel comfortable being around him. He used to carry a fungo bat around all through practices. That image with his friendly smile is etched into my memory forever. RIP Danny, you will be missed.

Eternal rest grant unto him Oh Lord and let Perpetual light shine down upon him...a prince among men and now a saint in heaven...how fitting. We will always love you and the memories that you made with us. Carol, Mark and Andrea

Danny frequently came in to my father's shoe store and repair shop in Bloomsburg. As a little girl I remember him sitting on the shoe shine stand as my Dad shined his shoes. He came in to say hello whenever he was in town and my Dad was happy to see him. Retaining his Italian accent and pronunciation, he referred to Danny as Danny Litwhile. And that is how I remember him. May he rest in peace.

70 years is our life span. 80 with special mightiness. ( Psalm 90:10)Danny was blessed with 95 years of special mightiness. May your hearts soon be filled with wonderful memories of joyful times together as you celebrate a life well-lived.

My prayers for Danny and PAt's families. We came to know them in FL at Cypress Run. He gave autographed baseball cards to our 2 FL baseball playing grandsons--very inspiring. A real treasure.

Danny and my father, Jack Moore were great friends while we all lived on Mayo Street in Tallahassee, FL. They worked together on a product now called "Diamond Dust" that players use to reduce the condensation on baseballs, their hands and gloves to enhance catching and throwing in damp and humid weather. Their names are now among those contributors to the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, NY. I still remember the two of them rolling the baseballs back and forth in our backyard in Tallahassee to test Diamond Dust out - and to their chagrin, chasing our Cocker Spaniel, Mamie, when she nabbed one of the balls. Danny was a wonderful man and we enjoyed our time with him and his family.

As a Graduate Student under Danny in 1981 and 1982 I learned more about the game of baseball than you can imagine. His inventions, career, and knowledge of the game is like no one else I know. Thanks again Danny. And I send my condolences to his entire family.

Dear Litwhiler Family, we are so sorry for your loss. My dad remembers playing a game against Danny in the 1950's when Danny hit a home run off of him that went so high my dad thinks it is still in orbit. God bless you all.
