The world is a little emptier today. May you rest in peace, Dimebag.

Last night one of the greatest Thrash Metal guitarist of our lives was taken from us. Darrell Abbott, know to the world as Dimebag Darrell, was shot and killed around 1am (central time) during the first song of the DamagePlan show at a club called Alrosa Villa in Columbus, Ohio. Anyone who has listened to Pantera or even DamagePlan knows what a loss this is for Texas Metal and Metal in general. If you have ever gotten the privledge to see either of those bands live you know that a live show invloving Dimers was intense and unforgetable. Lets keep him and his brother Vinnie Abbott (Vinnie Paul) and the Abbott Family in our prayers. It feels so wrong to have to do this, it's not right. Gone too soon. So now for most people December 8th hold to sad events. Rest In Peace Darrell Abbott 1966 - 2004.

Dear Abbott family, friends and fans: My deepest, most heartfelt reguards go to you all. I have been a long time fan of Dimebag, and his music was inspirational to people around the world. He gave me an outlet for my emotions, and helped me through a lot of tough times, as well as millions of other people. This was sincerely an untimely tragety that has shocked the planet. I as well as you and all of his fans have yet to realize that this is true. Dimebag was truly a legend, not only in music but as a person as well. I have not had the privlege of meeting him personally, however I hear nothing but fantastic things about him. I have seen him in concert about 3 or 4 times with his former band Pantera, here in Chicago and it completely blew my socks off. The way he plays guitar and the ways he made it sound was truly phenonamal. It was like he was singing.... My deepest reguards to your families from mine. May you find comfort and solace this holiday season. Easier said than done I know. Vinny, my heart goes out to you for having to witness this tragety. I know you and your brother were inseperable and nothing will compensae te for your loss. You loss a brother, I lost someone that touched me in a personal way that helped me. Granted I never knew, but I have been a fan of you guys for 15 years, since I was a kid. My mom used to jam Pantera. I'm 21 now. Insread of going to Las Vegas, My plan was to come to Dallas and party it up at your club. Nonetheless, my gratitude to the parents of Darrell and Vinvent for bringing such wonderful, inspiring, warm, kind and most down to earth people into this world. God Bless you all during this sad time. Thank you for this oppournity.Sincerely, Viola R.

I had the pleasure of meeting Dimebag and the rest of the gang in '96 here in Corpus. A true loss for everyone. I can not imagine the grief that is being felt all over the world. Dimebag has touched so many lives. PANTERA is the band that got me into heavy metal many many years ago. Deepest sorrow, Denise Terry

after hearing about darrel i was so devestated and shocked about the whole thing, this morning when i woke up and turned it on to the edge the first thing i heard was" dimebag darrel was shot last night..." and i immediatly woke up. when i got to school there was nothing but crying and people hugging others to comfort. and even a couple of my friends were sent home to mourn over darrel. well i just wanted to leave you this to let u know how sorry i was and if i was there i would have totally jumped on that stage and taken that bullet for him, no matter what! so god bless ya'll and we, and i mean all my friends and i, are very sorry you have to go through this.
