I am an avid Denver Broncos fan and when I saw Darrent play these last two seasons, I knew he was something special. I have been rooting for his success since the first time I saw him step onto the football field and I would never have imagined him to be 5"8, because he stood so tall and confident.

I am terribly saddened by the news of his death. It has come as such a shock and it has been the #1 thing on the minds of myself and my boyfriend since the early hours of Jan 1st. Since then we have been reading every article on every website to get to know Darrent "the man", since we already knew Darrent “the football star”. It is unfortunate that many of us are only learning how great he was off the field now that he is no longer around to be appreciated.

It just breaks my heart that Darrent will not have the chance to be the Pro Bowl player he was destined to be, to see his two children grow up and accomplish their own dreams, to prevent those young teens from joining gangs, and to pass on that infectious smile he had on his face every game because he was doing what he loved. I am 24 as well and have not even accomplished half of the things I have wanted to do in my life. Darrent had already accomplished so much, but could have done so much more.

I hope something positive comes out of this terrible tragedy. His spirit will linger and I hope this can be a learning experience for youngsters out there that life is too short and precious to waste it in the life of gangs.

I pray for everyone who has been touched by Darrent Williams (those who were close to him and those who have never had the chance to know him personally). The world has lost one good soul, but gained an angel. I am sure he will continue to do good work from the heavens.

"Lord I pray he's found some peace and his soul's somewhere at ease"

Darrent, you will be missed…
