To the Gavitt family - I had a chance to work with Dave on committees and know him outside the office as a friend and colleague, especially here on the Cape where I would run into him at a Cape League game or a local store. He was one of the nicest and most genuine people I've ever met. My deepest sympathy...John Garner, Jr., Cape Cod, MA

To the Gavitt family,

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Gavitt and his son Dan, while he was in charge of the NCAA Foundation. And he was always so nice and gracious, I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to the Gavitt family.

I met Dave Gavitt in 1965 when he was the assistant coach at Providence College. He offered me more than a scholarship to PC, Coach Gavitt offered me faith in myself. Whenever he spoke to me, his voice was always smart and caring. He always made you feel that he was speaking to you personally when advising you in coping with real life, and how to choose the life you wanted.
Dave Gavitt played a key role in teaching me to increase my efficiency and enhance my life quality. God loves Dave Gavitt and so do I.
