I always thought the world of Don "Monk" Meineke, Sr
I loved his stories and how he viewed athletics, people, and the world in general.
Monk was born with "street smarts" and I never got to see him play unfortunately--- but I am certain he "got away with a lot" in the lane ! He took pride in "knowing the Game" and part of the game is maximizing what u can do ! Obviously, he was gifted on the floor but perhaps his greatest gift was in the legacy he has left and the tremendous family he and Mary Jane raised.
Just one sports footnote:
The big man used to hold the NBA record for most disqualifications !
The NBA refs could catch those hooks, hip checks and grabs! But Big Monk always laughed about that and had that wry smile remembering those hoops days !
He was a fabulous man and as big as life !
RIP Don "Monk" Meineke , Sr
