Thinking back on the long history of my friendship with Eric takes me back to a time when you met up first and made plans second. "Hanging out" was the activity and everything that happened in between was just a bonus. "What's up? What do you want do do?" "I don't know come over." Was a common exchange between us. I've done everything with Eric from helping his sister move to Pittsburgh to driving to salvation army while listening to the soundtrack from Office Space. It all started in Mr. Crane's chemistry class, sophomore year of high school. Eric and I were lab partners on the first day, and we continued to be partners, so to speak, through college when we lived together. These experiences together make up a huge part of who I am.
Eric and I seemed to be always on the same page when it came to everything including sense of humor and how long we were going to stay in the pool on summer days. It is rare to have a friendship with someone that can remain as unconditional as ours did. Eric was like another brother to me and his family was like another family. We share a bond that can not be broken. I am so thankful for being able to spend a few more times with him in February. Sure we grew up, moved away, and some things changed, but the experience was overwhelmingly familiar as though we had never been apart. This picture says it all.

I knew Eric from playing tennis with him for three years in High School. He was also laughing and enjoying the time with his friends. It is sad to hear of his passing and I hope that his memory is comforting all those he touched and that his family knows just how many people Eric knew and how many people counted him as a friend.

Eric was one of the first real friends I made after moving to Ohio and no matter how many years go by, my lasting memory of him is always going to be of that goofy, life-loving, incredibly friendly 13 year old kid. My deepest condolences go to his family and closest friends, Eric will be missed by many for a very long time.
