Thinking of you Jean and sending prayers for a speedy recovery. You were blessed with wonderful, caring, and loving parents. I was fortunate to know both of them. Your mom was my first Girl Scout leader and a role model to emulate. Your dad was shared by so many. He was loved for all that he did for children and will be remembered by all who knew him. May you and your family feel the love of many in the coming days.

Chet Roush was truly a great educator and a loving man. I came to Kettering in 1967, after teaching in another district for a year. I was thrilled to be in a school system where children and their education came first, and teachers were treated with the utmost of respect. In Kettering there was an atmosphere that rewarded creative thinking and teaching, and when I witnessed it, I knew that I had found my true home. I soon learned why Kettering was so different from other school systems. It was because this great man, Chet Roush, had the vision of what he felt a school system should be, and he had the leadership ability to bring the best out of all the people who worked in Kettering. He was a gentleman and a role model for all, and he will be greatly missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him. What a wonderful gift of his life that he gave to the Kettering community.

Mr. Roush and my father were the two gentlemen who influenced me throughout my business and personal life. It was a privilege to be a team member of Coach Roush's Fairmont 1949 Miami Valley Championship football team. I have never forgotten the many lessons he taught me, and it has been an honor to have this man of extraordinary integrity be a part of my life.

I am a retired teacher from the Kettering School system, and feel fortunate that I had the opportunity to know such a wonderful man. I was always amazed at how he could remember my name and made me feel that I was not just another teacher. He was amazing and will be missed by so many.

Condolences to the Roush family. We have fond memories of Chet and Dottie. I was a friend of Sally's and spent many hours visiting in their home. My husband was one of Chet's students when he was a teacher at Randolph (class of '58) in Englewood. Not only was Mr Roush a great educator but he was a wonderful loving family man.

I definitely say ditto and Amen to all the above. I taught in Kettering from 1968 to 1990, and have felt his influence ever since. He was a pillar.

I have so enjoyed watching the love between Chet and Dottie as they napped with their heads together on the sofa in the front lobby of Lincoln Park Manor. That is true love...Blessing's to the family.
October 15, 2013
I remember your parents sitting in front of Lincoln Park Manor, hand in hand sleeping on each other's shoulder. I will always remember that for the rest of my life. It was peace and love. I am sorry for your loss.

Jeanne,
Thank you for sharing your Dad with everyone for so many years. When I was hired and given an office at the board Mr. Roush came to meet me. From that day forth he knew my name. He told me once, "Dave, people think I can walk on water. I can't. But I do know where the rocks are."
So many things will be said about your dad. I could ditto each one.

Mr. Roush was always a benchmark for all of us as we grew up in the Fairmont school system. He was the "Standard" of what it meant to be a gentleman with enough fortitude to face life and its challenges. He will always be missed.

What a priviledge to have been a patient at Lincoln Park Assisted Living a year ago and meet Chet and Dottie. They would sit outside the front entrance, when the weather was favorable, and greet everyone who was coming to visit other patients. Chet and Dottie always asked where residents and guests went to school and want to know who won the ballgames each week. What a wonderful legacy, for the city of Kettering, to have had such an outstanding leader and his wife!

One of the finest men I have ever known !!!!! Class of "51" .

So many wonderful memories of your Dad Jeanie. Starting back in first grade at Dorothy Lane through our lives even to when he and Dottie came to the class of 65 reunion years back. So glad you and your family were with him, and I as so many others am deeply saddened. Please reach out if I can do anything. Love to you and all of yours.

These tributes are so wonderful and bring tears to my eyes. I did not know Chet and his wife until they came to our Assisted Living Unit and most of the time they were here, no one entered the building without seeing them together and their picture should be placed in the dictionary next to the word "love". Devotion is the word that comes to mind not only for the both of them, but to their entire family. He will be so missed. I am so glad I had the opportunity to see him almost daily for the last years of his life. May God be close to his family at this difficult time.

I always marveled at Mr. Roush's ability to call me by name when we would meet at school activities. I use him today when speaking to benchmarks for a superintendent. Integrity, compassion and strength are the words that come to mind. God's blessings on the family. - Wm. Lynn Dixon, FE '1970

Chet was my teacher for gym and health in the early 50's He was a great man, always caring for his students.

Chet Roush was the principal at Dorothy Lane School when I was in first grade. He took care of me once in the office when I fell and cut my lip on the playground. When I was in high school performing groups, he and his wife used to sit near my parents and my mom always appreciated their presence. He was Superintendent when I was hired to teach there in the fall of 1970. He was an awesome leader of the schools and we were so lucky to have him. My sincere condolences to his family; we're so glad you shared him with us!
October 15, 2013
Chet was one of the all time greats. My wife and I often spoke that we wanted to be just like Chet and Dottie. Full of life and full of love.
October 15, 2013

I loved this man. I will always be grateful to him for giving me the opportunities I always thought were beyond my reach. He always knew by name all he had met. Mr. Roush was a true leader of people and always had the welfare children of Kettering his top priority. Kettering and all of it's people are a better place because of him and I am sure that he is sitting next to GOD. I weep for our loss, but thankful for having him in my life. GOD BLESS YOU MR. ROUSH, YOU are certainly a oner. There never was nor will there ever be anyone that even compares to you . No doubt
about that! Again, Mr. Roush, YOU ARE THE MAN!!

The father of Kettering City Schools. He was to Kettering Schools what George Washington was to our nation. A gentleman, scholar, and family man. He never swayed in his devotion to family, God, and education. A giant of a man. Godspeed Chet and condolences to your family.
