I was with Christina in Afghanistan and we worked in the same building. I knew her vaguely, which is to say we would say hi to each other and maybe talk Air Force stuff (there were only three Air Force members there, so we automatically shared that bond) and sometimes would be in the same group of people during meal times.
The presence she had was magnificent. She was always flashing her beautiful smile. I saw Christina a couple of hours before she was taken from us. I had just finished a convoy to pick up food for the building. There were so many heavy boxes. Christina, with here petite frame, would carry as much as she could. It was her nature- always willing to help.
The loss of Christina devastated the work center. When we received word that she had passed, there was obviously a great deal of sadness and anger. Many people were asking "why?” I wished I could answer that question. But I know she is with God and even Heaven is improved by her presence.
To her family- It has taken me a long time to figure out what I would write on this guest book. I think Thanksgiving is a very appropriate time to finally say something. We did not forget her. Myself and the other Air Force member lowered all American flags on the base to honor our fallen Airman and friend. Three days later, we raised them again. The work center has since renamed the meeting room to “The Christina Maddock Shura Room”, posting a plaque on the outside wall in her honor.
I keep Christina's obituary and the very picture shown above taped to my locker at work. Taped next to that, is what I have written here. How I knew and remember her. How the loss of Christina affects so many people. We owe it to her to tell all those around us about this wonderful person. I barely knew her. But I will always remember her. I will always consider her a friend. And I will always, always, be thankful for that.

Tina, never in a million years did I imagine that something as tragic as this would happen to you. I look back at the times we had together, both in the classroom and at the gym, and remember how you made me and everyone around you laugh at your crazy self. Although I wasn't the friendliest person to be around, you still had enough patience and personality to consider me as a friend. For that I just want to thank you and apologize for not giving you a hug and saying goodbye when we went our separate paths.
To Sue and Jimmy, I'm so incredibly sorry for your loss. I met Tina a few times while working at the BX with you, her spunk radiated from her... I hope time eases your pain, I could always tell that you were a close knit family, full of love for each other. Lots of love and prayers to everyone!

So sorry for your loss. When parents had lost their daughter Our Lord Jesus told them "The young child has not died, but is sleeping." Note what happened next; "taking the hand of the young child, he said to her “Maiden, I say to you, Get up!”?And immediately the maiden rose and began walking." This can be your hope and may that thought bring you some comfort at this sad time.(Mark 5:39-42)
Sue I am so sorry for your loss, God bless you and your family and may He give you strength at this time. My prayers are with you.

Tina was the kind of person that leaves an impression from the first day you met her. She was genuine and sweet and had the most contagious smile, you couldnt help but smile when she was around. Goodbye Tina. You were a wonderful friend. Ill miss our wine and game nights. May your grace and spirit leave a lasting impression on this world.
Very best wishes for her family in this time of loss.
I will never forget the late nights you and our other co-workers would come over to Reed & I's apartment after a crazy long shift we all worked at Bar Louie. Many of us gathered around the kitchen table, telling jokes and letting loose after a rough night of dealing with some rather "unfavorable" customers at times. You always brought energy and of course hilarious laughter to those gatherings and to work. Those years at Bar Louie with you and the team are some of my most fond memories, thank you for being a part of that. We will miss you - rest in peace Tina.
I have fond memories of working with her when the Fox & Hound first opened in Beavercreek. She was light-hearted and fun. She was warm and always had a smile on. I always admired that about her. As evidenced by the numerous people posting pictures of themselves and Tina on Facebook, she was a friend to many of us. She was always smiling and a joy to be around. She introduced her brother James Maddock to us, who became a great brother of Delta Tau Delta, and most recently, President.
