Wow so its been a little over 2 months since youve passed and i still cant believe your gone. u meant and still mean so much to me. i have so many funny moemoreis with you. the best one is me always telling u that i was gonna marry you. ha i had the biggest crush on you. if u were mean to me id tell u that im not your wife anymore. then you would be nice.we always had fun when we were together.. never a dull moment with us.. you were like my big brother and was always there for me. it hurts me that through the past 3 years we have kinda lost touch. but sometimes here and there youd send a message and see how me and my family were doing. i really miss you and love you. i cant wait til the day comes when i get to hug you and see your big smile again :) until then watch over me and keep me safe! this isnt really a goodbye because ill see you again! i miss you chris..

much love

Words cannot express the deep sympathy I feel for you and your family over the loss of your son Chris. What a remarkable, young man...he touched so many, many lives in such a positive, wonderful way. My heart aches for you, John, I can't even imagine. This just doesn't make any sense, but I do believe there is an ultimate plan for all of us. It is just so difficult being the ones left behind to grieve. John, I wish you strength, love, patience, understanding and peace. My heart and good wishes go out to you and your family. Chris will forever be in our hearts and memories. May God Bless you and keep you strong.

John, Sherry, Family and friends:

My deepest sympathy to the entire family and close friends. It is not easy losing such an obviously very "life touching" person. Being a father of 2 children myself, I know it can not be a comforting feeling, to survive a child. God only calls those that are deserving to go, and He never gives us more than we can handle in life. Not that it will be easy, but, the fond memories of what Chris was to the people he touched will be the driving assurance that he is and will always be "loved".

God Bless, Peaceful Thoughts, and my deepest sympathy in your time of cherished loss.

Rest In Peace Christopher, God speed your soul.

Sincerest Thoughts,

Martin C Downing (Past PPG employee) and Family

I only got to hang out with CK a couple times but I can honestly say he was an AMAZING guy. I met him through some friends and we went out at UD together. That night some guy put a roofie in my drink. CK was right there to help take me home and make sure I was okay. I honestly dont know what would have happened if he was not there. I want you to know that in the few times I met him, he impacted my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this hard time. He will be smiling down on you :)

Sherry, John and family: We remember Chris as the little kid next door on Dayton Dr., who was full of smiles, always said hello and never had a bad word to say against anyone. Drove his sister crazy but said he loved her.

When bad things happen to good people, it is never easy to understand why..but be comforted in his memories as he lead a pretty spectacular life, as he had a pretty spectacular Mom and Dad. You raised him well...you know words cannot express the depths of your loss, and how sad we all are for you and your family.

May the God of tender mercies be with you in your time of sorrow. Our hearts ache for you and pray for your comfort.

To the Kernich family and friends,

The loss of such an amazing and beautiful person such as Chris is very sad. May God Bless all of those close to Chris and those who stood by and showed continuous support throughout. I had the pleasure of meeting him only once, but I know the smile and the personality, the Christopher Kernich that everyone knew. He was full of life and was surely taken too soon, but God has a plan for him and I know he is up there watching out for all those near and dear. God Bless

Rest In Peace Christopher!

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Chris was an amazing friend to not only me, but many others. The last few days I have repeated the memories I had of him over and over, and not once was there ever a negative word that came out of his mouth or even a frown on his face. Rest in Peace Chris! In my thoughts forever!

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Kernich family. This senseless act can never be understood. Hatred is running rampant through our everyday lives, and most of us are unaware because we choose to lift ourselves above that hatred. I am sure I speak for all when I say "you have much love and compassion going out to you from the Fairborn and Park Hills High School Community."
November 22, 2009
Chris was a great kid and will truly be missed. This is a parent's worst nightmare losing one of their babies. Chris is looking down upon all of us and smiling down. As hard as it is, we need to be happy for Chris as he has joined God and holding a place for all of us to join him at a later date. Until then, we will all have a special guardian angel looking over all of us. The good lord had a different plan for Chris and realized he was needed more with him. Chris, we will all love and remember you here in Fairborn and I know I am proud to say that I knew you. May your family find the strength to make it during these trying times that they will experience.
November 22, 2009

Not, How Did He Die, But How Did He Live?

Not how did he die, but how did he live?
Not what did he gain, but what did he give?
These are the units to measure the worth
Of a man as a man, regardless of birth.
Not, what was his church, nor what was his creed?
But had he befriended those really in need?
Was he ever ready, with word of good cheer,
To bring back a smile, to banish a tear?
Not what did the sketch in the newspaper say,
But how many were sorry when he passed away.

Even though I did not know Christopher personally, both of my daughters went to Fairborn High School with him and remember him well, and am so sorry for your loss. I wish you peace in your hearts knowing that Christopher was loved by everyone who came into contact with him and that he will be cherished by so many.

You are truly an angel who was taken from us too soon. God must have bigger plans for you. The outpouring of love you have received over the last week just goes to show what a stand-out guy you really are. Your ability to light up a room with your smile and your friendly personality both made you one-of-a-kind. I feel blessed to have known you and to have spent many good times with you while I was at Kent. You will NEVER be forgotten. I will continue to pray for the rest of your soul and also for your parents during this extremely hard time. Love you Ckkk!

We hope you know how much Chris meant to our family. We loved him so much! He did so much for Joel! Chris was part of a great group of Skyhawks! Joel sent a text message on Saturday to be shared with Chris that didn't make it in time..."Hey, can u tell CK hi and I love him so much, u tell him that, OK"...that says so much about Chris! I am so happy Joel got to see him Friday to share his love for this loving, beautiful person.
Our thoughts are with your whole family...you were an inspiration to all who came to see Chris! Your faith will sustain you through this lonely time. Please know we are here for you!

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Both of my sons were close friends of Chris, and our oldest son Mark graduated with him from Fairborn in 2005. It was through our sons, Mark and Matt that our family was introduced to Chris. From the moment he walked in our home and flashed that huge smile, it felt like he was part of our family! We shared a lot of fun times and laughter playing ping pong, sledding and even shoveling snow. Chris was snowed in at our house with the entire family and countless others for a night in the spring of 2008! We were priveleged to have known Chris, and you have our deepest sympathy. There are no words that can ease your pain. We know what a thoughtful, respectful, delightful son Chris was, and he has been taken from you so unfairly and needlessly.
