My prayers are with you. Bluegrass music has lost a legend, but heaven has gained an angel in its glorious choir.
I miss Harley so much. I met him in Nashville in 2008; we got along like a house on fire, bantering back and forth and having a wonderful time kidding around, cos that was Harley. After his show, he asked me to stick around for a while and hang out and chat. I did; I told him of a deeply spiritual experience I'd had that moved him to tears -- many, many tears. He had such a HUGE heart and an amazing soul. He gave me a wonderful gift of friendship that night; he was a brilliant, shining beacon of light to me, a meteor that came zooming through my life for one fun-filled evening, but he left such a massive impact no one or nothing else can compare to. He was at Puckett's in Lieper's Fork showcasing Jeffrey East and The Broussards. It was a magical night I will never forget. I'll never forget the kindness, humour, and light of this very special musical angel. God bless you, Harley. You will always be my soul brother. xo
Harley is in Heaven with one of his biggest fans,Alma. Rest in Peace
The day I graduated in 1976, I made a choice to go to Wild Cherry Park in Englewood rather than have a party at home. I heard and met many of the bluegrass greats that day, including the Allen Brothers. I personally got to talk to and get a hug from Harley. It is funny that just the other day I had out several of the Allen albums I purchased over the years, one of them autographed by all of the boys. Just a couple of days later I heard of Harley's passing. I will all the more cherish those albums and the memories of that day of listening to sweet music under the trees.
My condolences go out to all of the family and friends that knew and loved Harley.
The Allen Brothers lived and struggled when we were young, They sang from their souls. Know that we all feel great love and grieve for the family
Mark/Betty, Sorry to hear of your loved one passing away. Christian and I send our condolences to the family. We were neighbors across the street for years. God Bless!

Rest in peace my friend, looking forward to hearing the next Jam with our Father in heaven. Much Luv to ur family. See ya soon. Gale Ann Valley AKA (FAllen)
So sorry to hear about this talented young man losing his battle with cancer. My husband grew up in the same neighborhood with the Allen boys. We loved to hear them play at many of the Bluegrass festivals around the area. I don't think people realize how many songs Harley actually wrote or co-wrote, I was impressed at the long list. Such a shame to lose him so young. My prayers go out to his wife, children and the rest of his family.
My sympathies go to Harley's family. My father used to jam with him years ago here in Dayton, and my dad was so happy to see his album on the shelves of stores. It always brought a smile to my father's face!
Now, it's time for Harley to put smiles on the Angels faces up in heaven. May God be with his family in this difficult time.
Though it has been several years since I last saw Harley, his passing leaves a hole in my heart. I cherish the hours that I was able to spend picking with and listening to Harley and his brothers many a night. I first met him when he was just 17 and was always in awe of him though I was somewhat older. He will live forever through his songs and I'm sure, like they did with brother Neal, Greg and Ronnie will keep his music alive.
You will be missed Harley. My thoughts and prayers are with Ronnie,Greg and the rest of the family.God Bless
My deepest sympathies go out to the entire Allen Family. I first met Harley when I was barely 17, at The Living Arts Center, where Red Allen and the Allen Brothers were performing. I loved their music so much, and Harley's charm, well I was hooked. I became close friends with his sister, Delores. What fun we had at the festivals, dancing, clogging, singing and laughing. He will be missed by so many. I know that in heaven the three part harmony, Neil, Red and Harley are jammin. Again my sympathy and love to all of the Allen Family.
We lived next door and the boys would get together to sing and play. Most of the time Harley would come over and say: Hope we are not making too much noise. Sure was some beautiful noise. The Allen's touched so many. Thoughts and prayers for the rest of the family.
When I was growing up my daddy always listened sunday night to wyso-the allens were always on the air-years later they were friends with my ex-husband and played at our private wedding in dayton ohio 1977- harley sang with my daddy"blue eyes crying in the rain" My daddys now 80 and today I told him about harley-that is a good memory we will share forever-loved his voice and his mandolin-our best to ronnie & gregg and the rest of the family-He will always hold a special place in our thoughts
Too soon for our world to be without Harley's talent and wit! Thankful for memories of all those bluegrass nights listening to Harley, Ronnie & Greg!
Heartfelt condolences to the family.
