MAY GOD BE WITH YOU GODFATHER!I LOVE YOU TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!!
I am in complete shock over this! First of all, my condolences go out to his family, friends and co-workers. He was a very caring, gentle and passionate person. He took such good care of my babies! He was very gifted and talented at his profession. Which all of us appreciate! You will always be remembered for everything you have done for our communities and for our furry little loved ones. RIP Dr. Horton. You will be missed.
I am not even sure if I signed this guest book, Mrs. Horton. Jerry and I cared very much for Dr. Mike. I was heartbroken hearing about his death. He was one of the most special, wonderful people we have ever known. We miss him very much. Dr. Janet Kail, Jerry Kail, Petunia and Isadora.
You were my best friend ever.
I miss you.
Dear Mrs Horton,Family,Friends,and FAH Staff
I was on vacation and just learned of Dr Horton's sudden passing. He was one of the kindest, caring individuals I have had the pleasure of knowing. He was a great vet! When my dog Buddy was ill he gave me a few extra years with him and I will be forever grateful for the care and love he showed even in Buddy's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and the loss for all of us and our furry friends.
Lee A. Duteil
I just recieved the tragic news. He took care of our pets for the past 20 years. He was always so kind. And he always enjoyed talking about our lives as military reservists. My prayers go out to him and his family.
YOU MAY NOT REMEMBER ME, BUT I LIVED IN YOUR CONDO ACROSS THE STREET FROM YOU AND MICHAEL FOR A FEW YEARS, BACK IN THE LATE 80'S AND EARLY 90'S.
I RETURNED HOME FROM VACATION, AND WHILE GOING THROUGH THE OLD NEWSPAPERS, I READ ABOUT MICHAEL'S SUDDEN DEATH. I JUST WANTED YOU TO KNOW HOW VERY SORRY I AM FOR YOUR LOSS. YOU AND MICHAEL COULDN'T HAVE BEEN NICER TO MY ROOMMATE AND ME AND I REALLY ENJOYED MY TIME THERE.
ALL MY PRAYERS ARE WITH TO YOU AND YOUR FAMILY DURING THIS VERY DIFFICULT TIME.
MAUREEN (RYAN) MCLAUGHLIN
I had the pleasure of working with Dr. Horton to develop Fairborn's urban forestry program. Whether taping an episode on trees for Channel 10 or discussing one of Dr. Horton's numerous projects, he was passionate and knowledgeable about trees and taking care of our environment. I will miss him very much.
Mike was my classmate in the OSU College of Veterinary Medicine class of 1972. He was always the gentleman and the consumate colleague. It is obvious from the community's response to his death that he was more than the local veterinarian, he was a local treasure.
As our careers diverged I only saw Mike at state meetings or class reunions but he always remembered names and had a good word for everyone.
He will be missed by the community and most especially by his family but he has left a legacy of service that will be hard to match.
You always took such great care of my animals. Although you are in a better place, you will be missed by many. My prayers are with your family.
Dear Marcia and my old friends at FAH, I was so sad to find about Mike's passing. What a great man, doctor and friend he was.My little part time job at the hospital for so many years was a great joy to me and I got to see Mike's skill and compassion. My cats spent their whole lives under his care.
I am thinking about and praying for you all.
Much love, Lyn Askew (Stager) Raleigh, NC
I am so very sad to receive the news about Mike. We were close friends in high school and often talked about what the future held for us. We were going to leave our mark on the world because we understood what an enlightened time we live in! Our paths never crossed again, but I often thought of Mike over the years and wondered if he was living his dream. I hope so. He made my world a better place. My deepest sympathy to his loved ones. JUDY SCAGGS BENSON, Santa Fe, New Mexico
My wife and I are deeply saddened by the loss of Dr. Horton. He was a great person and took such wonderful care of our animals. It was an honor and privilege to have met and known him. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and staff he leaves behind.

I was one of Dr. Horton's reps. I just loved him and his stories! He was so full of life and never stopped learning. He was truly a gem and one of the best vets I have ever worked with. His love for animals, hostas, nature, and people was an art. Every time I met with him, he always has something new and exciting to show me. He will be truly missed!
Our Dear Dr. Mike - we were on vacation when our daughter called to tell us about this terrible tragedy - I just couldn't make myself believe this! I sold Mike's house in Beavercreek when he was about to build his clinic in Fairborn. I even had the chance to see the clinic on a private preview. His son was liitle then - he was called BJ - a very cute little guy! Ever since - Mike was our Vet. He loved his KIDS and was so amazing with them. We lost our lttle Heidi and he knew my world was jut falling apart - he was so swwet and kind to me. Years later our little Hannah was a miniature doxie and was just 3 weeks shy of being 18 when we lost her to old age. One time she hurt her back seriously when she got in the garden and was chasing rabbits. Mike took care of her and she came out of it - just like a miracle from God. I teased my husband when he hurt his back and the doctors were trying to get him some relief - I told him to go and see Mike - he cured Hannah so he could cure him too! When we lost our Hannah he was so caring and tried so hard to help us find another little doxie. We talked many times about differnet dogs and he alwys gave me his honest opinion and made me feel that we were making the right decision. When we first took our little Maggie in to see Mike - it was love at first sight for the both of them - a happy time for all of us! We have such wonderful memories of Mike and I'm so sure that all those KIDS in Heaven gave him big welcome with lots of kisses when he arrived. May God bless Mike for all the good he did, not only for his KIDS but for the community. Some on told me that dogs don't go to Heaven - well - haven't you seen that movie --"All dogs go to Heaven"? There's a place for all his KIDS there with him. He will sadly be missed by us and many others - his life was way too short for such a good person that he was. May he rest well and someday we'll all have the opportuntiy to see him again.
Al and Sally Utz and little Maggie
Brenda & I were extremely saddened to hear of Dr. Horton’s passing. Mandi, Chloe, and Abbey were blessed to have Dr. Horton’s special care many times, over the past four years. When Chloe’s eye was injured in an accident he took her in immediately to try to save her eye. And when it was determined it could not be saved, he performed the surgery the next day to once again remove it. She was up and alert that day and ready to come home like nothing happened. He took time many evenings to call us with health updates of our “kids” (as he called them). We offer our condolences to Dr. Horton’s family, staff and many friends in the sadness we all feel. He will be missed, with fond memories of his loving care for our pets.
I just found out today. I am in such shock. Dr. Horton has taken care of my beloved pets for almost 2 decades. I had the opportunity to work with him when he allowed me to do my professional practice at Fairborn Animal Hospital. I got to know him well during that time. Dr. Horton was a phenomenal veterinarian, humanitarian, and role model. He has inspired so many people including myself to do the right thing and take care of the world around us. What a tragic loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to Mrs. Horton and family.
It is with sorrowful hearts that we say goodbye to Dr. Michael Horton. He was our veterinarian for the past 10 years. I remember our very first visit with Petunia, our silky terrier puppy, when he said "you picked a good one". He referred to us as "mom and dad" and to our pets as "the kids". Once I ran into him at Kroger and he asked "How are the kids?" Through the years he has helped our dog and cat through sickness and health.....almost like a marriage. Since I am a medical professional myself, we always used to talk "shop" and share interesting medical information. I compare Dr. Horton to my own father and it was said at dad's funeral that he was a "true gentleman". That is exactly what Dr. Horton was...a true gentleman. He was generous, kind, caring, intelligent, energetic, dedicated to his patients and their families, dedicated to the Community of Fairborn. He will always be one of the most admired people in my life. Mrs. Horton, I know you will miss him and that he can never be replaced. Please know that we grieve with you and if you ever need anything please call us. Jerry, Jan, Petunia and Isadora (Izzy) Kail
Our family is devasted over the loss of Dr. Horton. He was a kind, gentle man, and a wonderful Vet. I met the good doctor through my wife, Elsita, who grew up in Fairborn. He cared for our "extended family" as we did, and truly understood the mindset of a pet lover.
Our hearts go out to his family, and his staff. He has touched many lives in a positive way. He will be greatly missed.
May the Great Spirit watch over him, and give him eternal peace.
The Azzaretto Family
My family and I will miss you. I have known Dr. Horton since I was a kid. He has taken care of my parents animals and mine in later years. I cannot believe he is gone. Dr. Horton was a good doctor and loved animals. Such a kind person. Here is a man that truly cared and loved animals. Our prayers are with his family at this very difficult time. Dr. Horton..you will be greatly missed
We will miss you Dr. Horton. You always said you only had one Barnacles and one Raisin in your practice. You cared for Barnacles for all 15 years of his life through cancer and arthritis. Then, when we got our new puppy you joked with us...."I have to tell you, I am a little disappointed with his name Bradley. After a name like Barnacles, I would have expected another unique name". We all laughed about that one. Thank you for taking care of our "kids". You had a heart of gold and you are loved and missed. Please look after all our "kids" which I know are around you now.
What a nice man! He is the best veterinarian my family has ever seen. So caring and kind. Trully loved animals. Will be sorely missed. He contributed so much to the Fairborn community. He trully cared for all people and animals. Our thoughts and prayers are with Marcia and family during this very difficult time.
One of the finest man, I have ever work
with and for. Never arrogant toward anyone and always cared for everyone he work with.
I worked with Michael at Wright-Patterson AFB, AMRL, Fairborn, Ohio.
A Great man is always missed. I will miss you Michael Horton.
Our deepest condolences to Marcia, the staff, and other family & friends. Dr. Horton was such a compassionate man & we will miss him. He always took such great care of Mo, Molly, Katy, & Onyx. Thank you all for sharing him with us these many years. He gave so much to us here in this world, but will be lovingly welcomed by Mo & Molly & many others with lots of kisses.
Thank you Dr. Horton!
Thank you so much for taking care of us and caring about our community... Thank you for spending time talking to our owners about us... She's sad you're gone, and is not sure where to take us anymore...You've been such a reputable veterinarian. THANK YOU & LOVE TO YOU.
Love, Abby, Bear, [Bella, though I perhaps hadn't met you], Cindy, & Cutsey.
Since I am very particular about the care of my animals, I feel a tremendous loss. That doesn't compare to the loss felt by Dr. Horton's family, friends, and staff, but I definitely empathize. Please accept my condolences and know that Dr. Horton will always hold a special place in my heart as the best vet I ever had. Thank you for everything you did for me and my animals, Dr. Horton. You are missed.
You were a very good vet..I would have recommended you to anyone I knew..which most of my neighbors went to you anyhow. You took good care of many of my dogs..the ones I remember was Nicholas..he saw you many years and lived a good life when we noticed him getting sick he took a visit to you where we came to find he had cancer in his throat and we had to have him put down there was nothing left we could do. I wouldn't have trust anyone but you. Then I have a great dane Beau you have seen since he was a puppy. He has went through so much with his legs..where he grew to fast and they weren't going as quick as he was..you were there to help..and I don't think he would still be living here if it wasn't for you. I am very upset to see you gone and don't think no I know we will never find another vet like you. My deepest sympathy goes out to everyone at the clinic and your family.. your truly missed already.
Take care of all the animals in heaven I know they will be glad to see you.
Colleen, Tommie, and Savanna
These comments about Dr. Horton tell a wonderful story of the type of person he was and how much he gave of himself to help so many.
Please accept my deepest sympathies.
Thank you for taking such good care of our furkids. We all will miss you and your love and compassion for your patients.
I'm so sorry. Mom sent this to me, and I just read it while on vacation. I'm so sorry.
God be with you,
In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
Dr. Horton was an exceptionally kind hearted person who has left such a positive impact on so many people and their furry companion's lives. He's been there from the beginning to the end of many of my furry friends' lives. His sincere compassion was truly special. My deepest sympathy goes out to his family and all the staff at his office.
Thank you Dr. Horton for all the passion and dedication that you gave to the community of Fairborn. You will truly be missed by our "kids" and their "parents". Our hearts go out to your family and co-workers.
Thank you for all your loving care of our beloved pets. You will be greatly missed. Jim and Frances Coates
Myself and my little Abby is sending thoughts and prayers to all of Dr. Horton's family, friends & co-workers. I never knew him, but it is obvious he has touched so many people who were fortunate to cross the path of life he walked. You all have so many memories to cherish and I hope those memories will help you heal in time. God Bless
you have our deepest sympathy for your lose.we sat acrouse the table from you at Bens and Mandy;s weading.
Dr. Horton - You were such a wonderful vet. When we moved to Fairborn in 1996 you were recommended by several co-workers. After the first visit I could see why. When Abby lost her sight you patted my shoulder and told me she could still have a good life and she did. When we determined Lola was diabetic you gave us advise and comfort. Rest in peace Dr. Horton, many "kids" will miss you, but we're sure many "kids" are happy to see you in heaven. Deepest condolences to Marcia and all the girls at the clinic. Can't believe you're gone. Miss you much already
Sallie, Barry and Lola Wilson
You will truly be missed in this community and in our hearts. Thank you for taking such good care of our kids...from the Culli kids - Dusty & Ginger...
We were very sadden when we heard about Dr. Horton. He was such an awesome person and vet. He will surely be missed.
Michael was my veterinarian and my friend for over twenty five years...in Sept. of 2007 he hosted our wedding at his house and stood up as our best man...I have lost a friend, my cats have lost their care taker, his wife has lost the best of the best and the community has lost a great friend, the last of the great gentleman.
The universe will shed a million tears.
Michael..say hello to Jack for me.
He was a great and kind man. Always there to treat both the people and the pets. A great loss to the community, he will be missed by all of us, both two- and four-legged. Out deepest sympathy goes out to Marsha and to his wonderful staff at Fairborn Animal Hospital.
Not only was Dr. Horton a wonderful vet, but he was one of the finest people I have ever known. He truly was doing the work he was meant to do all these years. He will be greatly missed.

We live in Louisiana now but while living in Beavercreek, Dr. Horton was our beloved Boomer's vet for many, many years. He was so good to Boomer throughout all his trauma. What a sad, sad, loss for the community.
Blue and Gracie Loar will miss Dr. Horton. He was their wonderful vet and good friend.
Dr. Horton was a kind, gentle, caring, passionate man. I've known him for the past 25 years. He has taken the best care of all of my family's "kids" (dogs) and I truely feel that he had his whole heart in his relationships with his patients. Knowing he is up in Heaven is sad for us on this earth but knowing he is taking care of our "kids" who have passed, gives many of us peace. He will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and staff.

Words cannot express my sorrow from the passing of Dr. Horton. He was without a doubt the kindest and most compassionate man I have ever met. My thoughts are with his family, friends and especially his staff family. Even though he can't take care of Lily for now, I know he is now watching over Major, Zachary, Michael and PJ. Thank you Dr. Horton for sharing your special gifts with so many.

We extend our deepest sympathy to Mrs. Horton and the family and community.
A great man is tragically gone and he leaves behind a legacy of love and concern for God's creation. Let us all vow to honor Dr. Horton's work by caring for animals that he loved.
Dr. Horton had a kind and gentle soul. If each of us could have just an ounce of the kindness, love and passion that he exuded, imagine the possibilities. He had been our family vet for 25 years and we wish peace and love to his family.
I was a total shock to see the notice of Dr. Horton's passing last Friday. Not a day goes by since then that I haven't thought about his importance to our community. We have taken eight of our pets to him and he will be greatly missed by we and our pets. Words cannot express the loss we all have suffered.
Dr. Horton was a genuinely good-hearted person and a wonderful vet. He cared for my dogs for several years and was so kind, compassionate and understanding during each visit. He was there for me last year when I had to make the decision to help my best friend transition on to the next journey. Dr. Horton will be missed but never forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and staff.
Laurie Moore, Dayton Ohio
We will miss Dr. Horton very much. He was an amazing vet and overall great person. So friendly to me, encouraging to my daughter and caring to our dog. Andrea, Sasha, Bianca
Dr. Horton was a wonderful man. He has been our vet for years. He took care of our dogs and cats as if they were his own. My daughter was in ROTC her sophmore and junior year in high school, and always volunteered to help clean up the parks around the area. He will be sorely missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family. God bless, Scarlett, Pixie, Pugs, Butler, Cleocatra, and Tony.
Debbie, Catie, and Deana
I moved to Fairborn 7 years ago and have taken my kids to Dr. Horton since then. He was the best veterinarian and the nicest man I have ever met. I will miss seeing him when I take my boys in for their check-ups.
Melissa Miller and her boys, Tails, Piston, Cam, Axle, & Daytona
Dr. Horton was a wonderful vet and a great man. He always made me feel like my kitties were the most special and that I and my family really mattered to him. Dr. Horton was so caring and giving and we will miss him very much.
He was there at some of our happiest times and by far some of the saddest. And we trusted him at every stage of our Pet's lives. A model citizen and true military officer. We'll miss you greatly Dr. Horton.
Doc was a saint along the lines of St. Francis of Asissi, the patron saint of animals. I consider him to be a friend and one of the most remarkable gentle men I ever met. Trhogh the years with my five rescued Golden retrievers, he and his wife were always there. When our Abigail had to be put down in 2003, he and his wife came to our home and put Abigail to sleep in our arms as we looked out over her beloved park and yard.
A remarkable man, he designed his facility and his home and I could see his passion for so many just causes in his work and his endeavors. He was a Rennaisance man. Truly his passing is a great loss for for his family, friends, community, his beloved patients, and the many recipeints of his giving of himself and his talents and time. God and Michael are playing with the the puppies at the Golden Bridge.
Heaven is filled with hostas and lillies and daffodils with the arrival of Mike Horton. He was greeted by thousands of cats and dogs that he cared for over the years. Heaven is a better place today. Fairborn benefitted from having Dr. Horton spend his life here. He touched our city in so many ways. He will be sorely missed by so many of us. Especially all the "kids" that he cared for so lovingly. My sincerest sympathies to his family and office staff.
Mrs. Horton, Family, and Fairborn Animal Hospital Staff,
We are very sorry to hear of Dr. Horton. I'll always remember how he treated us and our dog "Bozo" when Bozo came down with cancer.
You have our sympathy and prayers
Mrs. Horton, I had the pleasure of speaking to you on several occasions when I was trying to reach Dr. Horton because of an emergency with one of our Boston's. I remember when we were first stationed at WPAFB from England and I asked a close friend. Who's the best vet. I was told Dr. Horton. From our first meeting, he became our "Doggie Doctor". Over the next 23 years he took the best care of our "fur kids" or as Dr. Horton called them "Popeye'd Kids". When our first Boston was critically ill, Dr. Horton had us meet him on a Sunday so he could treat him. When our second Boston began exhibiting signs of Dementia, he gently allowed me to come to terms with the fact that there was nothing else to do. And we had tried numerous options over a 4 week timeframe. When it was time to help him cross over the bridge, he was there with kind eyes, gentle words and his ever so gentle touch. Dr. Horton was one of the most kind, knowlegable, and loving persons my husband and I had the pleasure to know. My heart is breaking with sadness for the untimely loss that you, all of your family and the Fairborn Animal Hospital family are dealing with. Please know that Dr. Horton will continue to live on in the many lives that he touched and your memories of him. He was a man beyond measure who will be missed greatly by my husband, myself and our pups; Buster Brown, Buster Brown Jr, Missy Rose and Spanky Ray. I'm sure he was met at the Rainbow Bridge with lots of kisses from Buster Brown and Buster Brown Jr. May God hold you in the palm of his hands during this sad sad time and bring you through to the other side where memories will again bring a smile to your hearts. With Love and Prayers for God's Peace,
Mike was a pledge brother of mine in ACACIA fraternity at Miami University in the winter/spring of 1966. We went active but he never returned to Miami and I lost touch until he started doing the cooking show with the ladies from the Greene County Extension Office where I now teach. I am so sorry. We had many great memories. His mother chartered a bus for us to be with him when he recieved an award at his church in Fairborn. I really wanted to make contact with him, again. You have my prayers and sympathies.
Mrs. Horton I had the pleasure of speaking with you several times when I was trying to reach Dr. Horton because of an emergency with one of my Boston's. My heart is breaking with sadness for you and your family including those at Fairborn Animal Hospital during this time of loss. Dr. Horton was our "Doggie Doctor" for 23 years and one of the most compassionate, kind, knowlegable, sharing people my husband and I have had the pleasure to know. My Boston's were always excited to see him whenever we came for a visit. We will greatly miss his kind eyes, soft words, and ever so gentle touch. Remember to let God hold you in his hands through this sad time. Hold onto the happy memories and he will be with you always. With deepest sympathy from us and the fur kids too: Buster Brown, Buster Brown Jr, Missy Rose and Spanky Ray
Looking at all the entries in this guestbook you can see how many lives Dr.Horton's touched. Thank you for taking such good care of our animals (kids as you would say). We trusted you with their lives and they'll never be anyone else that will compare to you. You will truly be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you Marcia and all of your family.

The past first Sundays in June at Michael and Marcia's home have always been special to us. Michael's dedication to making nature and the enviroment a better place was unmatched and contagious. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Marcia.
You are in our thoughts and prayers...we will miss Mike dearly.
Mrs. Horton, I don't think that I have ever met you but I want to let you know how much my heart hurts for you and the Fairborn Animal Hospital family. Dr. Horton has been my vet for the past 7 years. He has care for my furry friends as if they were his own. He was a mentor and friend. I will never forget him.
Dr. Horton was a great doctor and a true friend. He was someone I trusted and respected. He was my vet and friend for over 30 years. He took such great care of my dogs and they truly loved him so very much. I am deeply saddened in my heart of this tragedy. The people and animals of Fairborn are in deep mourning and we will always remember him with great love. Heaven gained a wonderful soul and the animals there waited to great him with joy and love. May God always watch over his family. They will be in my prayers. I will deeply miss you Dr. Horton.
Marcia, Jim and I are so saddened by Michael's passing. He was our vet, a co-worker, a great chef, and our friend. We will miss him.
Kathy and Jim McDougal
Dr. Horton will be greatly missed. It was such a shock to hear of his passing. He was the greatest veterinarian and took care of so many of our fur babies over the years. May God watch over him and comfort his family in thier loss of this great man
To Marcia, I'm so very sorry for your loss. You and Mike were truly partners in life. You worked together, served together and played together. Together you set a marvelous example to the next generation (and even to some of us older folks) not just in the works you did together but also as an example of how a marriage can and should be. You two got it right. God bless and sustain you today and the coming days.
We were so saddened by the loss of Dr Horton. He was our vet for 27 years. He was a wonderful veterinarian, and human being. He always had a smile, & a good sense of humor. He took good care of our cat "kids." We will miss him...and never be forgotten. Our condolences to the family and his staff.
It was upsetting to come back from an out-of-town trip to learn that Dr. Horton had suddenly passed away. He was our veterinarian and we trusted him wholeheartedly with the care of our dogs, Scooby and Charlie. He was an incredibly nice person who will be missed.
Dr. Horton was a truly wonderful veterinarian and caring person. Seven years ago I brought my dog to him because he came highly recommended. While many doctors could not diagnose the hip problems my border collie Murphy was having, Dr. Horton spent a great deal of time with me to determine the cause. He was the only one who diagnosed her and treated her so that to this day she is able to run and play like a puppy.
I am truly sorry for your personal loss and the loss of the community. He was a wonderful person. God Bless. DaRona Smith
It is with such sadness that I learned of Dr. Horton's death. He had such a wonderful sense of humor and was such a gentile caring and loving person. He took such loving care of Duncan, Lady, Grizabella and Rumpel Teazer since 1983. Grizzy and Rumpy lived for 19 wonderful years and Dr. Horton was there for all of our needs. I could call him at any time and he was always there. His knowledge and expertise in working with dogs and cats was the best that you could ever expect. When it was time for me to say good bye to my girls after 19 wonderful years, Dr. Horton was there, holding my hand, crying with me and telling me "you have to love them enough to let them go." I'll never forget his compassion and love for all amimals. Our community is a much kinder and better place because of him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and I can never thank you enough for sharing Michael with all of us.
We are so sad over the loss of our dear friend, Fairborn High School classmate, and veterinarian for the past 28 years since he opened his practice in 1981. Mike was probably the most caring person put on this earth. He loved Fairborn and made it a life goal to make this a better place, not only for our four-legged friends, but for every person he came in contact with. He started a science program for the students of Fairborn and collected pennies to replant trees in areas that were barren. He established scholarships for Fairborn High School students in honor of fallen Fairborn war veterans when a classmate of ours, Phil Ritchie, died of agent orange he was exposed to in Vietnam. He decided there were stories like those and honored not only Vietnam vets, but WWII and Korean vets as well. I was privileged to present him for his induction into the Fairborn City School's Hall of Honor. He not only cared for our four-legged family members, he was always there for anyone in need. He was instrumental in getting the land donated to Fairborn for the Oakes Quary and the old cement plant where they will be training medical personnel to handle crisis situations. He never stopped trying to improve our lives. He was one of a kind and we will miss him dearly. We would usually come in for a serious situation, and wind up having a good laugh before we left. It's amazing how our dog always became healed by the time we left. He was truly a "miracle worker!" Love to Marcia and family. He will forever be in our hearts and minds. May the good work he created in this town continue in his name.
"Pets are just little people in fur coats" are the words of Dr. Horton that I will always remember the most. And, it is my hope that they will somehow bring some comfort to us in our sorrow at the loss of this great man. Shocked and devastated, saddened and grieving, we have to accept this tragedy and preserve the legacy left by Dr. Horton. He was held in the highest esteem, admired and respected for his professional knowledge and skills and loved by all who knew him on any level. His dedication to and love for our "kids" can never be equalled. A few days before we moved from Fairborn to North Carolina, I stopped by to see Dr. Horton and thank him for the 16 years of care he gave our kids and us. I am so glad that I had the chance to say good-by and let him know how much he meant to us. The Lord really does work in mysterious ways.
This is so sad. May God bless the family at these difficult times. We have known Dr Horton for many years. Recently, he has given our dog a comfortable life by providing caring and expert treatment. We loved him for this. We will miss him.
A fine vet, a great man and the best friend a cat ever had. He'll truly be missed.
Thank you Dr. Horton for taking such good care of our babies these past 11 years. There will never be a Vet as amazing as you were. We never worried when we had to leave our pets with you. They couldn't have been in better hands! You were a God-sent to our family. You had such compassion and wisdom. Our dogs would not be here without you. You will be missed by so many. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

i was a jrotc cadet all 4 years at fairborn high school. every year i worked community service for him. and every year he had me pull garlic mustard... eventually he called me the garlic mustard queen. he did so much for the program at the high school and for the community. He was also my families vet for almost 9 years. he was the only vet that my mama trusted with her seeing eye dog. And when he had to put an animal down for us. he always showed so much sympathy and compassion in his work at the vet office and everywhere else. i will truly miss his
compassionate spirit. Thank You Dr. horton
Though I appreciated everything I knew about Dr. Horton, I continued to seek his care for my pets for one reason; his genuine concern and understanding for the relationships between humans and animals. No animal lover wants to be patronized because of their feelings for their pets. Dr. Horton and his staff have patted my shoulder and held my hand through sad and worried times and never made me feel silly for what I was going through.
He was a caring and compassionate man. He was a hero and the kind of person you point out to your own children as someone to emulate.
There is a special place for souls like his.
Doc Horton was the best, the absolute best! He treated our large family and us too! He helped me make the hard decisions when it was time to say goodbye. He had cats, and we did too, so we always shared stories. He loved his babies dearly, even if one woke him up in the middle of the night, and one layed on the computer keyboard when he was using it. He had great integrity, caring, and went the extra mile. I trusted him completely and he never failed my "kids". I can't imagine our family without him. From the tributes, his life was obviously one that touched many people with his giving, and caring. Selfishly, I want him back. It just isn't right that this happened. There are more "kids" to save. He was the best, the absolute best!!
We are heartbroken to hear of Dr. Horton's passing. Our furry kids will forever miss his compassionate care and, as for us, his friendship will be sorely grieved. Yes, he must be in heaven now with all of your and our "other kids". We love you and miss you terribly, Dr Horton.
We so sorry to hear about Dr. Horton. God Bless his family. May he rest in peace.
We have known and visited Dr Horton for many years with various pets. Most recently, he has been the reason our bullyhead, named Dozer has lived a comfortable life. We are so grateful to have known such a wonderful man. What a model human being he was on this earth. We will miss him.
Words cannot express how grateful I am for knowing Dr. Horton. I have been with him since 1981 with my 1st dog. Dr. Horton has treated all of my animals. I believe it was Christmas eve 1994 when my cat was diagnosed with kidney failure. Dr. Horton wanted me to come in on Christmas Day so he could give her fluids. This is the kind of vet he was. So caring!!! I will miss him so very much. His wisdom, his stories, and just his love for everything that he felt strongly for will be missed. To Marcia, his family, and his staff my thoughts and prayers will be with you.
The number of lives touched by this man must out number the stars in the Milky Way. As a result, he will live through the seeds he planted - the change he facilitated - the love he shared with so many (people and pets). I thank God that he placed Dr. Horton and Marcia in my life. I would not be who I am today were it not for their influence. Marcia, please do not hesitate to call for anything.
Dr. Horton was the type of person who radiated goodness. Not only was he a superb vet he was a fine human being. I felt proud to have known him. His spirit will live on in all our hearts. Thank you Dr. Horton for just being you.
Please accept my sincere condolences on the loss of Dr. Horton. He was the only vet I trusted with the care of my cats since I moved to the area 25 years ago. He was a remarkable man and the world is a lesser place without him. My prayers are with his family. Thank you Dr. Horton for all you gave us.
Dr. Horton has been our vet for almost 30 years. He had a gentle spirit and a genuine compassion for our "kids" (Max Moore and Sugar and Tiger Thompson) He will be missed more than words can express. Our prayers are with his family.
I am still reeling over this tragic loss. Dr. Horton was my parents' vet, and then mine, for over 25 years. I've known him since I was a child. I remember my mom calling him in the middle of the night when it was time to put down one of our family dogs. I cried and he hugged and comforted me. He recently called on a Sunday just to check on my 13 year old Lab, Jasmine, who had been sick earlier in the week. Dr. Horton was straightforward while still being kind. He was a brilliant veterinarian and vibrant conversationalist. Sometimes we would talk about Europe and wine, other times school issues and children. I just saw him last Tuesday, and we talked about the horrors of homebuilding and the economy. I'll always treasure these conversations. People always asked me why I drove from Clayton to Fairborn for a vet...anyone who knew him wouldn't ask. He was a kind, honorable man and it was a privilege to know him. I'm heartbroken. My love and prayers to Marcia, the family and the kind staff at the hospital.
My thoughts, prayers, and condolences are w/the Horton family as well as his staff members. Dr. Horton was a truly wonderful vet and overall exceptional person. He was my vet for close to 15 years. He treated all my babies w/the upmost compassion and care. I would not trust anyone else to take care of my babies. You will be missed
Please accept our condolences on the death of Dr. Horton. He was my vet for over 25 years. I never trusted my kids with anyone else. My prayers are with his family.
Please accept our condolences on the death of Dr. Horton. He was my vet for over 25 years. I never trusted my kids with anyone else. My prayers are with his family.
Dr. Horton possessed an immense heart, matched by a passion for all living things. He lived a life of service that made our world a better place. Thank you, Dr. Horton for all that you gave, without hesitation. Your legacy will live on through all of the lives that you touched. My kitties and I will miss you terribly. My prayers to your family and staff.
Dr. Horton was a wonderful vet, and one of the few people we trusted completely with our pugs. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Horton family and staff. Our little family (including our "babies" Penelope and Belle) will miss you!
Our thoughts and prayers go to the Horton family. Dr Horton was a man of great compassion. He loved all God's creatures, great and small, human and otherwise. He treated and loved our beautiful Golden Retriever, Xena.
Dr. Horton was one of a kind. His genuine concern for both pet and owner were very obvious and very much appreciated. He has left a great void in our community. I hope he knew how much he was loved and admired. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff.
Michael was not only an awesome vet but also a very dear friend along with his wonderful wife Marsha. It is still so unbelievable he is gone as he was always larger than life and had such a great sense of humor. I am glad to have known him . My deepest sympathy and love go to Marsha and his family.
Thank you for the wonderful treatment and care you have give my boy "Riley" You will be deeply missed by all. My thoughts and prayers go to your wife & family. May God Bless you all.
My heart goes out to Dr. Horton's family and his staff at the Fairborn Animal Hospital. He was one of those very special human beings that not only loved his family dearly but clearly cared about his patients and their owners, his community and nature. He was an inspiration and a terrific role model.
Dr. Horton kept Petey happy and comfortable for many years he would not have had, had it not been for his excellent care. I don't know what Petey and I will do without you. We miss you. My prayers are with the family, the staff and friends in their grief. Rest in peace dear Dr. Horton.
Petey (Dafler) and Kandy Nevin
I just don't know what we will do without you. Romeo & Juliet demanded that I drive 500 miles because you were the best vet ever. You will be missed by so many!
Dr. Horton was a kind & compassionate man. He was an amazing activist for the community of Fairborn & always saw the potential this city has. He was a wonderful vet & he took great care of our dog Joey for 4 years. His loss is immense and our prayers are with the Horton family.
Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to Michael Horton’s wife and family. What a tragic loss. Dr Horton was our Vet for the past 20 years. During that time he became a trusted friend and someone we always knew we could count on. Dr Horton was a truly good person and we were privileged to have known him and to have benefitted from his dedication to our pets over the years. His wisdom, love of animals, honesty and incredible compassion for both the pets he cared for and their owners truly was a blessing. His trained mind and kind heart and hands healed many of our girls over the years and we trusted him implicitly to heal them when he could and to tell us when it was time to say goodbye. We feel certain that as he crossed over the Rainbow Bridge he was met by wagging tails on all the 4 legged kids who he cared for over the years and who have gone before him. Undoubtedly Michael is in a good place….we will miss him terribly.
Karen & Scott Morris and the Hounds (Gertie, Dixie and Lucy)
Dear Horton Family,
We will be praying that the Lord will bring you comfort and peace during this time of grief. May you find joy in the wonderful memories of a man who has inspired and encouraged so many in his community. Please know that our family, including our dog Emma will miss Dr. Horton dearly.
Dr. Horton was the best vet we have ever known. He was always so kind to our pets and treated them like family. We have been taking our pets to him for the past 22 years. He was always willing to work with us since we have had several dogs with unique problems and he was so understanding when we lost one them. We will miss him greatly. You and your family are in our prayers.
Dr Horton's passing touches so many of us. Whether he was taking care of one of his "kids", speaking at a school, collecting "pennies for trees", bringing Fairborn's history to life, or working at one of the parks, he always had a zest for life. Tim and I were privileged for the last 25 years that he was there to share his enthusiasm for his current projects and all the new additions and passings of our pets.
God bless his family and staff.
Tim and Carla Staiger
formerly of Fairborn
Dr. Horton was a great man and a great vet. He will be terribly missed by our family. He will never be forgotten. We wish his family the best through this difficult time.
Shooting stars blaze through our universe on rare occasion and, much too quickly, they are gone. But what a brilliant light they cast on everything around them while they are here! Michael, you were a shooting star to so very many of us. Please give a hug to my kids Red-kitty, Thomas, Callie, and Kit Kat. Zoey and I will miss you more than words can express; you left a huge hole in our hearts. Our thoughts and love are with Marcia and all of your family.
The community of Fairborn has experienced a great loss. I got to know Dr Horton when I was City Engineer for Fairborn and was always amazed by his energy and efforts. He gave so much to the city, the parks, and the community and really made a difference. I often wondered if he ever slept as he was always going and always thinking of new things. He was always so involved and I never knew him to not have a smile on his face. I remember him coming to speak to Rotary about Heritage Days in costume promoting the event. He always gave 110%. I hope to see the city name a park in his name as he did so much for the parks. He loved nature and the animals and worked hard to preserve them in any way he could. He will be greatly missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.
We were shocked and saddened to hear about Dr. Horton. Our family has appreciated his friendship and loving care to our dogs for 25 years. He was truly a caring and generous man.
Dr. Horton was the most wonderful vet I've ever know, and a great person too! My dog Taffy and I loved him for the care and attention he gave Taffy. We don't know how to express our sympathy for this loss to your family. Know that he will be missed and you and your family our in our prayers during this difficult time.
He was the best vet I ever went to. Clara (my dog) and I will miss him greatly. Linda Arrington
Dr. Horton was a man of vision. He will be greatly missed in Fairborn, not just for his work as a kind and compassionate veterinarian but as a person who saw the potential of Fairborn. He was dedicated to improving and expanding the park system. He worked on projects that will benefit many future generations of people in the area. He was loved and will be missed. We must be dedicated to continuing his vision!

I was so very sad to here of Dr. Horton's passing. I have only had the pleasure of having him for my vet since 2006. He was an amazing man and vet. I know in my heart he was welcomed into Heaven with open arms and paws. May God bless and be with his family during this trying time.
Brenda Groves, Fairborn Ohio
When I adopted my German Shepherds from Last Chance at the Huber Heights PetsMart, they immediately got checked out by Dr. Horton.
He was a great person and Vet and will be missed by all his friends, both two and four legged.
My husband and I are very sad with the loss of Dr. Horton. He was the gentlest, most caring individual when it came to our "kids".
As "Fairbornites" we also know how devastated our community is. Thank you, Dr. Horton, for caring so much for us, our family and even moreso, our community.
Our deepest sympathies
Bob and Katherine Myers, Rob, Midnight and Shadow
Very seldom in life do we get the pleasure to know someone like Dr. Horton. Thankfully, I had the privilege of working with Dr. Horton in the Air Force many years ago, a job that I think he loved as much as his beloved animal patients. I challenge anyone to find a more conscientious , considerate, or loving human being. While we’re blessed in having his friendship and memory, we’ve all lost something very special. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. Horton, his family, and those that knew and loved him.
There are no words to express my sympathy on the passing of Dr Horton. He was definitely a great man and his passion for animals didn't go unnoticed. I truely appreciate all the care he gave to all my kids over the past 20+ years. He will be missed.
My husband and I are shocked and very sad at Dr. Horton's passing.
He took very good care of our "kids" and we will miss him immensely. We saw Dr. Horton just a week ago and I was telling my husband how lucky we were to have him as our vet.
Our deepest sympathies.

My family told me that you passed away...I am deeply saddened. Yours were the hands that were caring, yours was the face that was kind, and yours was the compassion that always made me better. I will miss you, my family will miss you, Fairborn schools will miss you, Fairborn will miss you...and so will the world! I hope that your family will be able to rest in the comfort that you will now always be looking down on us from heaven.
Dr. Horton sounds too good to be true.I wish I had known about him. I I would have traveled there from Kettering!Compassionate, caring vets who are not just out for a buck are very rare, unfortunately. I`ve never found one who truly seemed concerned about animals, unfortunately.Hope that`s just bad luck on my part but Dr. Hortons patients were very lucky. I`m so sorry about his passing

I am deeply saddened by the passing of my friend, a wonderful human being, kind soul, veterinarian Michael Horton.
Dr. Horton was a generous spirit and loved his community of Fairborn, the animals, humans and all living things therein and strived to make this world a better place. I am a better person for having known him.
I pray for God's peace and comfort of his dear family
In a lifetime, one may never meet a great man like Dr. Michael Horton. I had the privilege to not only meet him, but work with him for many years. His guidance during my teenage years helped me focus on veterinary medicine and eventually to become a veterinarian myself. His commitment to teaching excellence, freedom and perseverance stay true in my life to this very day. There has never been anyone quiet like Michael, and there may never be again.
To my friend and mentor... Thank You! You will be truly missed.
As I write this, the little chihuahua that Dr. Horton rescued sits next to me. You see, he saved Chico from the pound, after Chico's human mommy had died (a former client of Dr. Horton's). He took Chico in, kept him for weeks, treated him for medical conditions, and found him a good home (mine!), and never charged a cent for it. I love Dr. Horton very much and I know that he is in heaven.
We are so saddened by your untimely passing, definitely gone too soon. We will always value you and the care you gave to our kitties, Stephanie Stearns and Sable Wheeler. Your love for animals and the community will live on with us forever. You will never be forgotten.
I could not believe my ears when I called Dr Horton's office and was told he had passed away. Right after moving here from VA my cat, Midnight, fell very ill with a heart problem. Dr Horton called the OSU vet hospital to get him in that very day. Thanks to Dr Horton and his expert care, Midnight was with me 6 more years, even after OSU said he had only 2 - 6 months to live. I feel so badly for his family, staff and friends - there will never be another vet like Mike! RIP - your impact on this earth was huge!
There are no words to express how much Dr. Horton will be missed by the animals he cared for and their owners. His gentle spirit and compassion for all God's creatures will be a great loss to all of us. Rest assured he'll be with Noah and the ark in joyful delight caring for all the animals "two by two." Our deepest sympathies to his family and staff.
Dr. Horton thank you for all you did for my dogs Brandy and Sadie. I can't believe you are gone. I will be praying for your family.
Dr Horton was a prince among men. I knew him for 30 years and he was unfailingly kind toward all beings; he was there beside me when I had to put our cats to sleep. I can't believe we're all just random electons spinning in space when I meet guys like him.
My heart goes out to Dr Horton's family. I am on vacation in New York and heard the news. He has been my dogs vet for 14 yrs and I enjoyed talking to him about all the activities he was involved in. I don't know what my dog Sasha will do without him, he was the best.
Please accept our condolences on the death of Michael. He was a friend as well as our family pets' vet. He will be greatly missed by the us and by the entire community.
We, as well as our pets and our community of Fairborn, have suffered a terrible loss.
Marcia: Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
My heart goes out to Marcia and Mike's family for their tragic loss. Fairborn has certainly lost one of its finest residents and his passing will be mourned by many for many reasons. My dog, Onyx, was lucky to have had him for a vet, and I know he will greatly miss Dr. Horton's gentle words and touch. I am sure he is greeting many old friends over that Rainbow Bridge.
We were so sad to hear the news of Dr. Horton's sudden passing. We didn't know Dr. Horton very long, but his knowledge, loving spirit and genuine kindness was very much appreciated. He was always willing to sit and talk with you to make sure your questions were answered and you and your pet were receiving excellent care. We will certainly miss our neighbor and vet. He did so many things to help all creatures and nature.
Our thoughts are first with Dr. Horton's wife and family, we are so sorry for your loss. Please accept our deepest sympathies. Secondly we think of the loss to our community of a great man. He was a leader, teacher, healer, and friend to so many, to the environment, and to all creatures great and small. A treasure to us all, he is greatly missed. We trusted Dr. Horton with the life and well being of our pets whom we think of as members of our family and he treated them as such. A more caring, gifted, and skilled veterinarian cannot be found. We feel fortunate to have known him. I can't find words to express my sorrow.
Mark and Kirsten Waldron
Dr. Horton's concern for the people of Fairborn was unmatched. His sense of civic responsibility, his analytic ability and his leadership qualities were a blessing to our small city. His philanthropic works benefited us all. Not the least of his legacy is the green spaces we love, whose preservation and care we owe to him. We owe him so much--in so many ways!
We placed our trust in Dr. Horton for the well-being of our beloved animals and we were were never let down. He never turned away animals in need. He was instrumental in rehabilitating the abandoned. Every life--human and animal, domestic and wild-- had value to Dr. Horton. His life was a testament to his values. May his "kids" who preceded him have been waiting for him at the Rainbow Bridge. Condolences from Blue's Mews Cat Rescue, Tristate Collie Rescue, and the Fitzhugh Bauman Family
What can you say when you lose a Vet that happened to be the BEST Vet we have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. He'll be greatly missed!
We are so sad to hear about Dr. Horton who has been a wonderful friend and doctor to "our kids". Dr. Horton was always so kind, positive, full of energy, and passionate about his many interests. He took wonderful care of "our kids" as did his staff who reflected his kindness and caring approach. We will miss him so much. We feel like we have lost one of our best friends. Our prayers go out to Marcia, his family, and his staff.
We were greatly saddened to learn of Mike's passing. His contributions to the advancement of veterinary medicine in the Dayton Area were truly outstanding. I will always remember his keen interest in the science as well as the practice of veterinary medicine, and his enthusiasm for sharing difficult diagnostic problems with his colleagues. The citizens of Fairborn and their pets have, indeed, lost a great friend and protector. All will miss his enthusiasm for living life to its fullest. Godspeed and love to all.
I first met Dr. Horton in Kettering when our dogs needed the scarce parvo vaccine and almost 30 years later our "kids" have seen no other vet except when he was called to serve during Dessert Storm. He was always thorough, professional and caring when we brought the kids in for well or sick visits. Over the years we developed a great friendship, I so enjoyed our discussions on education and sharing our mutual love of the the outdoors. When one of my students expressed interest in becoming a vet, I said I have a man you need to meet and work for. Dr. Horton became her mentor and she worked at the clinic for several years. He played a major role in her becoming a successful vet. My neighbor made a comment about the tragic loss of our vet, my first thought was we lost not just our vet but a very special friend. I will dearly miss him. Dr. Horton and his staff were there for me in many crisis and sad times. Their care and compassion is unmeasurable. My thoughts and prayers are with Marcia and the staff during this very difficult time. I will always treasure the fond memories I have of Mike as I know they will. He was truly a man who touched the lives of many and made a difference in this world.
Dr. Horton was an awesome vet and a wonderful giving person. It was an honor to know him and he will be greatly missed. We trusted him with our four legged family members for many years. He was one of a kind. Our love and condolences go out to his loving wife, family and his staff.
Dr. Horton was one of the kindest and most compassionate veterinarians we've ever known. He was knowledgable, friendly, and really loved animals. He always took time to explain what was happening and at the same time we knew he really cared. Less than a month ago he saved our dog Ty's life and we are so grateful.
The community has lost a great friend!
There will never be another Vet like Mike. We have known him over 20 years. From our first visit when our middle Westie, Krackers, had infected milk trying to feed her puppies until he told us it was time to let our last Westie go, he always made us feel our dogs were the only patients he had. Plus, we enjoyed sharing Air Force stories and his love of country and community. Every time we eat strawberries, we'll think of you. RIP Michael, we miss you. Cols (Ret) Ken & Kay Fryman
Dr. Horton was our vet for 15 years. He was one of those remarkable people who touches lives in ways that leave lasting memories. He was always honest and straightforward in treating our dogs and we deeply respected his professionalism as a veterinarian and his service to the community. We thank him for all he has done for Fairborn and for our dogs. Our family will miss him very much.
It is unbelievable to me that we have lost Dr. Horton. He was a wonderful Dr. and person. He was so good with my pets, especially my cat, Pretty Girl, who did not not like going to the Dr. and was very uncooperative. He was always very patient with her. I am so sorry for his wife Marcia, his son, father and all of his family.
I am on vacation in CA, and my sister called to tell me the tragic news. I was stunned. Dr. Horton has been my cats' vet for over 20 years, and they all loved him! There could never be a more caring individual. He will be missed. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family and staff.
Like all of Fairborn, I also am in shock over our loss of your great smile & "what can we do for this kiddo today?"
I was in the office just two weeks ago with my dog,"Angel" & was to bring my cat "Tuffy" in the next day but had to cancel due to my brother being rush to the VA hospital. I never got to take him in as my brother passed on. I know that God is taking care of my brother & Dr. Horton along with my "kiddos" already there & ALL of the other "kiddos".
My heart goes out to Dr Horton's family & to his Great staff at the hospital. He will be sorely missed & it will be hard to find another vet as good & as kind as him.
Angel & Tuffy
We are all so very sad to hear about Dr. Horton's passing. He was a knowledgeable, caring, and compassionate veterinarian and man! Our deepest sympathy and love go out to all of his family and friends! We will miss him! Carrie Jez, Shadow and The Entire Jez Family
We are extremely shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Horton's death. He was doctor to our three pets while we lived in Enon. He was a fine man and a very caring and conscientious veterinarian.
Our deepest sympathy is with his family, his staff and all the citizens of the Fairborn area.

Debbie and I were greatly saddened by learning of Dr. Horton's passing. It is seems so surreal.
Over the years he has tended to many of our kids, they all loved him as much as he loved being a Vet.
He had such passion for everything he did, always 110%, never less, mostly more and would never give up.
He took care of our babies at all hours of the night, day, weekends, he cared more about other people and animals than he did for his own time or schedule. For that we will always be appreciative.
We offer our condolences for the family, friends and co-workers of Mike. He will truly be missed by many, he was such a large part of the community and touched many peoples lives. Thanks you very much for all you have done for us and the kids, you will always be in our hearts.
Rest in peace my friend,
Our family is shocked and so very sad about the loss of Dr. Horton. Dr. Horton took care of our "kids" after we moved to Dayton from South Carolina over 10 years ago. He was an excellent veterinarian that we always depended on...through the good times and the bad. He is an inspirational person and will always be special to us. We will keep Dr. Horton, his family, and his caring staff in our prayers.
Dr. Horton was my vet for 20 years. I was devastated to hear of his passing. He was a wonderful man and I will miss him dearly.
It is rare in life one gets to meet and befriend such an extraordinary man as Dr. Michael Horton. His passion for life was contagious, His energy- boundless, his intellect-genius, his compassion, dedication and caring for plants, animals and friends- exceptional. Our memories are beautiful. Our hearts are broken.
To Marica and Ben, our greatest sympathy.
Nancy And Ewald Schulte
Words can not express the sadness we feel for the loss of Dr.Horton . He was out Vet for many years, taking care of our kids at all hours of the night, early morning and weekends, and, just as someone else said, he didn't do it for the money, he did it for the love of the animals.
Dr. Horton had a passion for anything that he set his sights on, nothing was ever halfway done, whether it was planting trees at the park, teaching kids in school or taking care of everyone's furry kids. It was always a 110% and then a little extra for good measure.
Our "kids" will miss him certainly, all they had to do was hear his name, and they were ready to go meet their friend.
We offer our condolences to the family/friends and co-workers of Micheal, he will be missed by all of us.
"We will love you forever, like you for always, as we are living we hoped you our verterinarian you would be."
Dr. Horton, we miss you..

Dr Horton's passing was indeed a terrific shock to the entire community. He will be greatly missed. My prayers go out to you Marcia and to Mike's step father....Mike Malavich. May GOD Bless you and keep you.
Our deepest condolences to the Horton family, his friends and his great staff. He will be greatly missed.

I am in complete shock. Dr Horton was one of a kind and I will miss him very much. He was the only vet I have ever went to and I trusted him completely w/ my babies. My heart goes out to his family.
My thoughts and prayers are with you Marcia. I just got off the phone with one of my Air Force friends who broke the news to me. It seems so unreal and so unfair. Michael was among the best of men. He has left such a legacy and will be missed by his family, his friends and his community. What a gap he will leave in this old world of ours.
I was privileged to work with Dr. Horton for several years on various Fairborn community projects. He was instrumental in expanding the Fairborn Parks system (the Oakes Quarry park was only one such example). A true gentleman, honest, and caring. I always marveled at how much energy he had. In addition to serving thousands in the community through his veterinary practice, he found time to bring enrichment programs to the schools, recruited countless volunteers for the parks, lead the F.R.O.G.S. program, volunteered for the Sweetcorn Festival, and touched countless other community programs. I feel blessed to have known him and will work hard to carry on his never ending sense of community. Dr. Michael Horton was a true philanthropist, loved the environment and all the creatures that inhabit it. Our thoughts are prayers are with Marcia and the entire Horton family during this difficult time.
Our "Kids" will miss you greatly as we all will! I thank God for all you have done for us and the time he has given us the gift of YOU. I know you are being well loved and looked after in heaven, still looking after all the "Kids" there. With our sincere condolences....
Chet, Kathy, Karlie and Brutus Mohler
My son and his friend were some of the local students that this veterinarian let share a day or two at the vet to see what being a veterinarian career would be like. We are sorry to lose him so early in life. He is in our prayers.
Fairborn has suffered a loss of one of the last warriors in this world. He was a friend and healer to our "kids" and to us. We had the opportunity to visit with him 2 years ago when we drove back to Fairborn to watch the 4th of July parade. He was his usual smiling, caring self. Our little ones loved him and we often wish we could have moved him with us to TN. He is deeply missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and his staff. He touched lives more than he could ever know.
Don & Barbara Keeney Slape, Cookeville TN
Dr. Michael Horton treated my pets as if they were his own. He was an understanding doctor who gave the utmost care. He always came in with a smile and a "How is the kiddo today?" He placed every thing on hold when I had to bring my dog in for emergency x-rays as a puppy. He had a passion for what he did and energy like no other. His passing is a huge loss for not only Fairborn, but those he came in contact with over the course of his life. I know we are heartbroken with the loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those closest to him-- his family, friends and staff at Fairborn Animal Hospital. He is greatly missed.

Todd and I are thinking of you and your family Marcia. Dr. Horton and you made me feel so welcome when I came to Fairborn. He was also an incredibly caring doctor for our dogs Oscar and Felix.

How does one find the words to express the emptiness left by the passing of such a gentle hearted man?
There are none. What we do have left are the WONDERFUL MEMORIES and LESSONS he gave us.
As so many others have written their stories on the MIRACULOUS GIFTS Dr. Horton possessed, I too have been BLESSED as a receipent of his LOVE. His LOVE for his GOD, his fellow man, his country, his staff, his patients and their parents, his son and his beloved wife Marcia . He not only treated and healed his patients, he healed their loved ones too.
Dr. Horton was the only doctor my 3 kids saw. He often joked and commented my kids kept him on his toes. They would make the medical books if they were people.
HEALING was his GIFT, and he was the BEST. Replacing him is IMPOSSIBLE.
To the many DEDICATED staff both present and past my heart goes out to you.
Marcia, may you find God's LOVE, PEACE, SUPPORT, STRENGTH, and GRACE as you deal with the days a head.
You are a STRONG LOVING LADY, and I have FAITH, God will be right be side you in this difficult time. Michael LOVED you very much. We talked of you often and his eyes just BEAMED when he talked of his BEST BUDDY.
Dr. Horton - I miss you already. You will ALWAYS remain dear in my heart and I will never forget you.
May GOD Bless Marcia and your family in your abscence.
Dr. Horton was a wonderful man with a kind and gentle soul. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, humans and animals alike. He was an amazing blessing to the staff and children of Fairborn City Schools and the very best vet that any pet lover could ask for. I know our furry "kids", Logan, Lizzie, & Leia will miss him. All we can say is the pets in animal heaven must have been in need of the best vet around and that is probably exactly where he is now.
With our sincere condolences...
James, Traci, Austin, & Jacie Womack
and...Logan, Lizzie, & Leia
Our thoughts and prayers are with Marcia-Dr. Horton worked tirelessly for Fairborn City Schools-and shared his knowledge and love of the environment with all Fairborn's children. We will miss him and his care for our dog Max-our thoughts and prayers are with you-
Chris, Pam, Casey and Corey Gayheart
and our dog, Max
I just cannot believe that you are gone, Dr. Horton. Thank you so much for all the years you have taken care of my kitties. You are the best vet ever and I don't know how we will ever replace you. Thanks for taking care of Shadow and giving me these past few years with her. You will never know how much your care of her and saving her from death meant so many years ago when I brough her in and she was so sick. You took her and cared for her while I was recovering from surgery and nursed her back to health. For that I can never repay you. May God Bless your family and heaven has just received the finest of men.
Our deepest sympathy to the family of Dr. Horton. He was a wonderful, caring man and we will miss him.
Mike .... Your time on earth was so short but you made the most of the time you had. You will be missed.
Dr. Horton was like a member of the family, he has taken excellent care of all our "kids" for the past 20 years. We will miss him so much, as will the entire Fairborn community. Rest in peace.
You gently and skillfully cared for my pets (and as a result, me) since the late '70s. Your generosity of spirit will be so missed.

We are deeply saddened by the loss of our vet and dear friend Dr. Horton. We have been with Mike for over 24 years and can not imagine him not being there. We will miss him more than words can express.

Rest easily, Dr. Horton. Your compassion, gentle humor, kindness, love of nature, and affection for your hometown will be missed. Thank you for your prairies and flowers and trees. Thank you for your smiles and humanity. And thank you for your support of the library and for caring so deeply about the children of Fairborn. I know that your heaven will be filled with all of the things that you loved.
Thank you for taking good care of our kids, Scooter and Dan. You will be missed terribly. Our prayers go out to Mrs. Horton and family and his great Staff.

Dr. Horton was one of the finest people I've had the privilege of knowing. We entrusted the care of our motley crew of "kids" to him over the past 18 years, and his care and compassion for them and us will never be forgotten. He had incredible curiosity and passion for life - I always looked forward to a good conversation about the environment, school funding, theatre (he was a supporter of the theatre program at Wright State), or anything else that might come up. He was so engaged in life - his loss is incomprehensible, and huge. Our condolences to his family, and to the wonderful staff at Fairborn Animal Hospital.
I became a client of Dr Horton's when he first opened the Fairborn Animal Hospital. Through the years he was so supportive of all the stray cats that I adopted and brought to him for care. He was very compassionate when I had to have any of my pets put to sleep. We shared an interest in butterflies and growing the plants to host and feed them. I have a paw paw tree planted on my property that he sold to me when I expressed an interest in having one. He will be missed. My sincere sympathy to Mrs Horton and family.
I was so sorry to hear of your loss. The thoughts of many are with you at this time of sorrow.
Rest in peace Dr. Horton. Toby first came to you at age 5 and has had the privilege of your care for 11 yrs, still very healthy! And we now have Tigger and Baxter, both only knowing YOU as their caring, trusting, loving doctor. Your smile and dedication will be deeply missed! Our thoughts and prayers are with all those whose lives you impacted.
Dr. Horton is a amazing vet, He saved my child's life twice. He even took our baby home with him to care for him around the clock without even thinking about it. He was the only vet that could figure out what was wrong with out baby. I known Mike Horton and his staff since i was a small child he cared for my parent's kids and now he was my vet. He was a friend, caring person, and most importantly he really cared about his passion to help. I am very sorry for your loss Marcia and staff at fairborn animal hospital. DR. Mike Horton will be missed and always remembered.

Dr. Horton was such a wonderful man and vet. My husband and I were there for his Grand Opening in Fairborn when he moved from Kettering. We moved to S.c. 13 years ago and are planning a move back to Dayton with our three cats we were excited to see and be with Dr. Horton again. It is a sad day for everyone that knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his loved ones.

You saved my child not once but twice. You were the only person that could figure out what my baby had. My family and I will always remember you and your love for people and animals. We love you Dr. Mike Horton . We will miss you.

Dr. Horton took care of my loved ones for 20 years. I do not know what we will do without him. His gentleness with the animals and genuine affection for them was so evident. We will miss you so very much. Are thoughts and prayers are with his family and the office staff
Dr. Horton truely loved me and took the best care of me over the last 10 years. I was one of his many "babies" that he loved and took care of as I grew up. It's hard to believe he is gone. No one can take his place. He was the most loving and compasionate person that we ever knew. He along with his staff provided the perfect down home setting for a Vets office. We will miss him terribly and want to give our deepesr sympathy to his wife and staff during this difficult time. He was a wonderful person.
God Bless, Bailey Shea,Dan and Gaylene Block
Sorry to hear of Dr. Horton's passing. He was always cordial when I was visiting with his staff. My prayers are with Dr. Horton's family and staff.
My heart goes out to you at this time and in the days ahead.
Dr. Horton was the vet for our family pets during the 10 years we lived in Fairborn. We found him to be a very caring and kind person, serving as a good role model to his staff. Our elderly cat was with the office for treatment while we were away on a short trip. We felt very badly that he passed away just before we got home. The staff was very sensitive to our loss when we came to make arrangements for our pet. He had a good sense of humor too, making us laugh when we were checking on our current cat's bizarre reaction to her image everyhwere in our home. I also knew him as a friend to the Fairborn Library during the time I was the Head Librarian. He was generous with his time and in contribution to the Youth Services Department there. He was well know for his interest in conservation as well. What a great loss to the animal kingdom, children, the environment, and his friends and family. Our sympathy goes out to his family.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
I live in Tipp City, so kinda a drive to Dr. Horton's office, my friends would say---Why do you go so far for a Vet?? I NEVER felt that way, I always looked forward to seeing Dr. Horton, because you always knew you would be treated with the utmost love, kindness, and most of all care for all our "KIDS" Dr. Horton was so worth the trip to get there, I truly cannot imagine having to find another Vet!! Dr. Horton we love you so much, Thank-You for all you were to "OUR KIDS", your community, the School Systems, and all those you came in contact with, you have definetley left a Big Impact on all those that loved you!!!!
I am very saddened by the sudden and unexpected passing of Dr Horton.
He took care of my "kids" for over 20 yrs.His love for animals was very apparent. My deepest sympathies and prayer's for his family. He will be missed. God Bless you.
I am so sad, I LOVED you Dr. Mike. You took such good care of me, who will take care of me now?
Dr. Horton was the best most caring person and VET. He and his staff helped me through the caring and death of my two dogs, Toby and Ginger. I was the activity director at Villa Fairborn when I first met Mrs. Horton and the Doctor. They were such caring people. May you find peace knowing that Dr. Horton is now with all of his Patients and Family and Friends, who he loved. Ellen Revis
We are terribly shocked and saddened to learn of the tragic loss of Dr. Mike. He expertly and loving cared for our family's dogs, he shared our joy when we welcomed new arrivals and divided our grief at the loss of our beloved Lady, Emma, Maxie-boy, Buddy and Rudy. Our love and prayers go out to his family and to his loyal, caring and dedicated staff, I can only imagine how deeply each one of you are hurting. This is such a tragic loss. Our deepest condolences to you all.
We did not know Dr. Horton except through our friend Craig Waymire who is one of his brother-in-laws.
We just wanted to send our sympathy to Marsha and the family.

I will miss dr Horton very much. He took good care of my cats. I think he will be at Rainbow Brige to see alot of his "kids" he took care of for so lon.g

For Dr. Horton. (My mom helped me)
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
Col. Horton was a really nice guy and a great vet. He cared about animals and was not in it just for the money.
From the first day we met Dr Horton we knew what a wonderful and caring person he was. Moose will greatly miss his buddy and we will sadly miss his charm, humor and compassion. We were blessed to have had him as part of our lives and will forever remember him. Our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr Michael Horton. God Bless you all.
Dr. Horton was absolutely the best vet I have ever taken my "kids" too. I always loved the way he called them "kids". I moved to Fairborn 11 years ago from North Carolina and began taking my Gizmo to Dr. Horton. Gizzy loved him and was always glad to see him.
My heart goes out to the family and the staff.
I know God has a place in Heaven for such a caring person. We'll just have to know he is the "Head" "kids" doctor in Heaven now.
Dr. Horton was a wonderful man and a wonderful vet(for my two dogs). Thank you Dr. Horton for your service to the community and to the schools. You will be missed. My prayers are with your family.
We are heart broken in the passing of Dr. Horton and our prayers go to his wife, family, and caring staff. The staff was such a reflection of Mike's compassion and thoroughness in the care of "our kids." In the past 20+ years "we" have been patients Mike diagnosed, spoke of his passions, wife, family, environment, and his love of the US. Missed but not forgotten.
Dr. Horton will be greatly missed throughout the community. My sincere condolences to Marcia and the rest of his family, as well as his staff. May he rest in peace, and God bless.
He cared for our "kids" for almost 20 years. What a wonderful Vet and human being. He will be sadly missed by the Sottoway,Garrigan, and Parrett families. Our hearts go out to his family and co-workers.
Dr. Horton took very good care of our family pets Nick Nack and Zucca. A friend, a good doctor, and neighbor - he will be missed.
What a tragic loss and shock to the community. Dr. Horton was such a wonderful and gifted person and vet. He will be truly missed by all, two-legged and four-legged. My prayers go out to his family and staff.
May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow.
Seldom does the passing of one of Fairborn's citizens leave such a hole in the hearts of thousands: whether they knew him as a veterinarian, a philanthropist, a nature conservationist, a friend to the schools and library, or wherever his generous, enthusiastic, and loving spirit took him. More of us should be as giving in the community!
His staff are a tribute to his example; they, too, were always kind and giving as well as professional. I have never regretted entrusting the care of six cats over some 33 years to Dr. Horton and his office family.
Marcia, so many prayers are being said for you. May God sustain and comfort you.
20 Years ago Dr. Horton gave me a job at his animal hospital. For the next 4 years he taught me what it means to be a dedicated, talented, compassionate veterinarian. He had an unending energy. We joked that all he needed was a pair of skates and he could do even more. Four years later, I was accepted into vet school, largely because of his guidance, recommendation, and drive to see me succeed. After graduation, Dr. Horton welcomed me back to his practice as an associate veterinarian. His guidance and patient teaching were so appreciated. I have so many fond memories of my time in Fairborn. I am so very grateful for all he and Marcia did for me. I can't believe that he is gone. I have him to thank for my career. When I moved away and got married, he continued to be so kind and supportive. I thought of him as a father, and he certainly was my family away from home during my college and early career years. Mike, I'll miss you so much, Thank you so much for all you did for me and so many others. My prayers are with Marcia, his family, staff, and clients.
I will never forget when my husband and I came home from vacation to find that our cat Maxwell was terribly sick after eating some yarn. He was barely moving, and we were worried for his life. Dr. Horton took him in the next day, and set Maxwell on the road to recovery. When we got him back, he was his old self again. We credit Dr. Horton and his staff for saving Maxwell's life.
He was a wonderful man and did many great things for the community; he will be deeply missed.
I just heard about the passing of Doctor Horton. I am saddened by this loss. He was very compassinate to my poodles Heidi and Katie.
Dr Horton was so kind and so gentle to all is patients and their owners. He touched many lives in his practice and in his community. He will be missed tremendously. My deepest sympathy to his family and all who worked with him.
What a shock! I don't want to think about what life will be like without this wonderful person. Dr. Horton (and his amazing staff) have been a part of our family since 1988. He has treated 4 great dogs with my parents and 3 dogs of my own. Dr. Horton was so gentle, so knowledgable and always focused on who he was with. Any time there was something major going on with one of our "kids" he'd call that night to check in and make sure everything was ok. With the recent birth of our son, he shared his joy of having his son and the wonderful times we were going to be experiencing. He was so gentle each time we had to let one of our dogs go. It still just doesn't seem possible that he's gone. We love you Dr. Horton! You will be missed beyond words. To your family and staff, you are in our hearts and prayers. May you feel God's strength, peace and love.
I have known Dr. Horton since he was at Kettering Animal Hospital and I started out breeding/showing collies. His guidance in the breeding of our collies was invaluable, and we learned everything we know today because of him. If there was a problem with which he was unfamiliar, he would investigate. There was never a time when he gave up on one of our "kids." In those 35 years, we were sorrowed by the passing of many dear pets, and I appreciated his support and great compassion. I remember so many times working with him on a litter of puppies and the great lengths he would go to to care for them.
My heart goes out to Marcia and family. I am so shocked by this terrible accident. My prayers are with you in your grief.
Dr. Michael Horton was a very special person in the lives of the folks in the Fairborn and surrounding communities. All of us in Fairborn are thankful for the things he and his wife have done for the Fairborn Community over the years.
He helped me gather supplies for the animals caught in the Hurricane Katrina catastrophy. He took very good care of my pets and he will be missed so very much.
Our condolences to Mrs. Horton, his family and the staff at the Fairborn Animal Hospital. We have all lost a very wonderful friend.
Dr. Janet Kail, husband Jerry Kail and pets Petunia and Izzy.
Michael Horton will be sorely missed. Not just by all of the animals that he helped over his long career but by everyone who cares about Fairborn, Ohio.
Michael was never hesitant to do things that others wouldn't have wanted to do. Whether it was talking to a group of 4th graders about trees or wearing a buckskin frontiersman costume on a 90 degree day as part of a Heritage Days event. Michael looked out for all of us and he will be missed very badly.
Dr. Horton was a treasure and blessing in Fairborn. He will forever be missed. Mrs. Horton and his entire family are in my prayers.
Condolences to Dr Horton's family, friends, and staff. He was a devoted and caring vet. One of the best. He will be sorely missed by all--two-legged and four-legged.
I am so deeply saddened by the news of Dr Horton's passing. He cared for my "kiddos" for several years, and I wouldn't change vets, even after we moved further south to Franklin. I will miss him and our conversations about environmnent, politics, and vacations. He was a wonderful person. My deepest sympathies and prayers for his family. Please know that your loss and pain, although greater than anyone else's, is shared by many. I shall be praying for you...
Dr. Horton was a true healer and great diagnostician - when another vet gave up on my kitten 13 years ago, he made time for unknown patients and saved him. He called me on two Christmas days to report on hospitalized cats.
Dr. Horton was a great human being caring deeply for his animal patients as well as their owners. His deep love of nature and all living things was evidenced in the great good that he did for the community he cared for passionately.
My deepest sympathy to his wife and son, and to his Fairborn Animal Hospital family.
I am totally shocked to have learned Dr Horton has lost his life to such a tragic accident and is gone forever. He was such a great man, the best of Vets, so kind and loving, and leaves such a huge crowd now in mourning for his passing. It is like...this cannot be; there must be some horrible mistake. My heart goes out to his family. Please know he was highly respected in his profession; he was loved by masses of people.

Dr. Horton, what an AMAZING VET and FRIEND! From the first time we took "OUR KIDS" to him, you felt his GENUINE HEART, Kindness, & Love! If you had the privelege to meet Dr. Horton in this life you were TRULY BLESSED! You know he was extremley busy with his practice, however he ALWAYS, made you and your "KIDS" feel special, and took all the time needed , and treated you with such compassion, and kindness, I had Copee to Dr. Horton twice in the last 2 weeks, and Dr. Horton was talking to me about, even his wildlife on his property, that he cared for and loved! He not only cared deeply about all his "KIDS" but he cared for their parents as well,he had a heart of gold, and we will MISS HIM GREATLY! Thank-You Dr. Horton, for your Precious Life, and the impact you left on all of us, that had the absolute privelege, of knowing you, and sharing our lives together, You were amazing to all the "Kids" your community, Your Staff, and all those who came in contact with you! My prayers are with you, Mrs. Horton, and to his WONDERFUL STAFF, you truly had an awesome person to work for! My heart goes out to all of you, My love & prayers,
Dr. Horton, you will be greatly missed throughout this small community. You touched so many hearts and it is shown by the outpouring of support that so many people loved you more than just being their vet...You helped so many pets (your kids). I will be so ever grateful to you personally, the day you told me that my cat (Tiger) had cancer, it was one of the worst days of my life, but you assured me that you would do everything possible to make sure he would be ok, and Tiger is still here and you kept your promise. I also thank you for giving me service that I could not afford at one time as a Christmas present, that meant so much to me...I know my animals will miss you, you were the only one that my cat did not growl or hiss at. I thank you for everything...It was a honor to know you and I thank you for everything.
My Prayers to Mike's wife, family and his staff at the clinic. I was a neighbor of Mike until two months ago when I moved to Arizona.
Mike worked endlesly for the betterment of all of Fairborn. He will be missed. Thank you Mike for all that you did for Fairborn. May God Bless your soul and May God Bless your Family.
formally of 632 Winona Drive
He was the most amazing vet I've ever known. He was able to keep my cancer stricken poodle alive happily and comfortably for about an extra 2 years over what was predicted. He was always so loving and compassionate that when I left Ohio and moved back to SC I still brought my doggie back to him. The world is a much sadder place to be without Dr. Michael Horton.
Dr. Horton was the most compassionate & caring person I have come across in a long time. His passion for animals was ever so present...he loved his kids dearly... Dr. Hoton, you take care of my Boomer & Noel up there... you will be missed dearly. Bless yr family, friends, and staff..
I want to express my condolences to his wife, son, family members, and his hospital family. His passing will be a great loss to all of us who knew him. He was a special man with a special love of life. Michael has been my vet and friend since he first started at Kettering Animal Hospital. He has always cared for my pets (“kids”) as if they were his own. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
When my Baloo boy picked me as his person, there was only one person who I would trust with his care. Dr. Horton treated my "kid" for ten years. Dr. Horton assisted me on one of the saddest days of my life. I have framed the card he sent to me and look at it often. The quote on the card comforts me to this day. I am sure he was greeted by many of the "kids" he treated over the years.
Dr. Horton, a man that will truly be missed by all. We had the pleasure of spending many great nights with Doc and Marcia at the restaurant. We will always remember the great laughs we had and memories that will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Horton family. May he rest in peace.
I am shocked and saddened by the loss of Dr. Horton. My parents took their "kids" to Fairborn Animal Hospital for over two decades. I respected Dr. Horton so much that when it came time to put my cat down, I drove back from Cincinnati to take him there. Though I moved away from Fairborn over a decade ago, my parents always kept me updated with Dr. Horton's many wonderful activities, and I would accompany my parents on their trips to Dr. Horton whenever I was in town. I last saw Dr. Horton 11 days ago when my father had to take his little buddy "Billy the Kid" in for Billy's final visit. I've never met a more compassionate, sincere veterinarian in my 35 years as a pet owner. My deepest sympathy goes out to Marcia, their families and his staff. All creatures great and small will feel the loss of this wonderful man.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. Horton's family and staff. This is a tremendous loss for the community and the many animals that loved him. We know that no one could ever care for our "kids" the way that Dr. Horton did. He was so very special to our family and he will be truly missed.
Doctor Horton, i have known you for almost my entire life and am thankful for that honor. You will truly be missed by all. Thank you for being so involved in the community and helping to conserve the fossils at the quarry. I will never forget you. Mrs. Horton, i am so sorry for your loss and will keep you in my thoughts. Thank you for all of the warmth and love you have given all of us and our kids(pets).
Please accept our most sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dr. Horton. This comes as a complete shock to all. May he rest in peace.
My husband and I were shocked and very sad to hear that Dr. Horton has passed away. He has been our family's Veterinarian for several years and has taken very good care of our Huskies. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and the staff at this difficult time.
I am so sorry to hear about Dr. Horton. He was a wonderful vet and a great advocate for the environment. I can't believe it.
Dr. Horton was a friend and my vet. I will miss him very much. He was the kindest and most generous man I have met. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff. All of us, including MuShu, will miss you. The Stetler Family
Fairborn has lost one of its greatest and most important assets in Dr. Horton. He was an amazing and compassionate veterinarian and cared for my "kid Angel" like his own. He was passionate about his community, the schools and parks and heritage of Fairborn. I will miss him greatly. My prayers with his family in this most difficult time.
Our "kids"(as Dr. H. fondly called all of his patients) Mort and Max will miss this gentle voice, knowledgeable person, and tender touch. The Noah's Ark Theme in the office is perfect for Dr. H. We are sure he is in heaven working with animals. Blessings and positive thoughts to the staff and to Mrs. Horton and son.
Dr Horton was a wonderful person and vet. He would get down on the floor and really talk to "the kids" as he always called any animal. He took care of many of our family pets growing up. Dr Horton shared in our joy when we brought in a new member of the family and grieved with us as we made a painful decision to end any one of our animal's suffering. He was gentle and caring and knew how to communicate with animals. Dr Horton will be missed by the entire Fairborn community. Many animals are greeting him in heaven with kisses, tail wags and purrs. RIP Dr Horton
Dr Horton was a true patriot--I first met him as my reservist at the base and he was so proud to be an AF officer and retired as a Colonel---he was an exceptional man, officer and veterinarian---I will miss him a lot and so will my "girls"--he is surely sitting at the Right Hand...
I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Dr. Horton's passing. What a wonderful man, and an awsome Veterinarian. He has taken such good care of my pets over the years. He is just a person that you are proud to have known. My prayers are with his family, staff and friends at this time. I know he will never be forgotten by the people that love him.
A family friend and vet before I was even born, Dr. Horton was a great man to both humans and animals. I remember visiting him with my dogs and my parents when I was a little kid. As I grew up and eventually got my own dog, I continued to go to him because he was a terrific person and doctor who ran a great clinic with great people. He always took time to make sure everything was going well with my life and my dog's, as I am sure he did with everyone. He never made me feel like he was rushing the appointment to get on to other patients. He will be gravely missed.
Dr. Horton took me under his wing as a kennel boy in the seventies. I owe a lot to him as a major facilitator to my own career as a veterinarian. He was a vibrant soul and will be dearly missed.
Glenn Thorson DVM
.dr Horton, we will miss you, and our kids who you doctored will miss you, the citizens of Fairborn and the Fairborn Schools will miss you. You and Marcia are in our thoughts and prayers. You have left a large void that will not be filled.
Dr Horton, was a wonderful man, loved my pets and was a good friend, So giving and kind, not of just money but of his time and abilities, Thank you Dr Horton, you took such great Care of my Kids (Betsy and Missy) they will miss your kindess.
Our deepest sympathies and prayers go to all the family and staff at the Animal Hospital. Dr. Horton cared for my "kiddos" for over 25 years. He helped comfort and ease the passing of two of our pets, and cared for the new babies that came after. Any time I found an injured stray along the road, I knew just where to take him. He did so much for the community, and even took time to serve our country. He will be greatly missed by all.
Dr Horton cared for all my fur-babies from 1983 to 2008. Even when I moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 1993, I continued to make the drive to Fairborn to see him. I have not met a vet who equaled his integrity, his knowledge, his compassion, his morality. My heart goes out to all the family and staff at Fairborn Animal Hospital.
Dr. Horton was not only a great veternarian, but a wonderful, caring human-being. We have been taking our Misha there since she was born, fourteen years ago. He was always so good with our baby and us "the parents" and always took the time to explain everything even when his schedule was busy. Our condolences go out to his family and staff.
This is a complete shock. Dr. Horton did so much for the Fairborn community not to mention the wonderful job he has done providing care for my pets over the years. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.
I was so shocked and sad to hear this news.Dr. Horton was a wonderful person. The greatest Vet. there could ever be. When I started taking my Baby there the insist I mat him I knew I would never take her to anybody else.He did so much for the community. My Condolences go out to his family, friends and his staff.
Dr. Horton was not only a great veternarian, but a wonderful, caring human-being. We have been taking our Misha there since she was born, fourteen years ago. He was always so good with our baby and us "the parents" and always took the time to explain everything even when his schedule was booked. Our condolences go to his family and his staff at this difficult time!
Rest in Peace Dr. Horton. You are certainly going to be one of a kind in heaven as you were here on earth. You held my hand recently through a crisis with one of my dogs and I will forever be grateful that you were able to get her through the night. My heart goes out to your family and our community that you loved so much. I will forever be appreciative.
Dr. Horton treated my cats for over 20 years. He was an excellent veterinarian, very caring and thorough. His generosity to the schools, library, and the whole community will be sadly missed. I liked and respected him a great deal. I will miss him not only as my cats' caretaker, but as I man that I was always delighted to see.
Dr. Horton was an amazing vet and an amazing man as a whole. He loved his work and his community. Thanks to his F.R.O.G.S program he has added trees to our parks; land labs to the schools. He was an inspiration to all. I will truly miss walking my class to the land lab to plants trees with this amazing man and talking with him when I take my dog, Corky for his visits. Marcia, my thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Dr. Horton was the most wonderful vet. I've taken my dogs to him for over 20 years. He cared for my goldens with compassion and love. He had a strong influence on my son. My son wanted to do a science project on our golden's deformed front leg and interviewed Dr. Horton about it. Dr. Horton took x-rays (free of charge) and gave them to my son to use in his project. We will never forget Dr. Horton - he will be missed greatly. Our condolences to his wife, family and the exceptional staff at Fairborn Animal Hospital.
I worked with Dr Horton at WPAFB years ago, when he started private practice I took my dogs to him. He was one of the kindest men I have ever met, both in caring and compassion for people as well as animals. There are no words to convey my sadness. He will leave a big hole in a lot of hearts.
Our love and prayers are with Dr. Horton's family, staff and friends. We will greatly miss Mike and the special way he had with all our "kids". May God comfort you all in His arms of love and assure you that all who put their faith and trust in Jesus are with the Lord and we will all be together again one day. Our lives are so blessed to have known such a kind and loving man.
An amazing person and truly one of the most compassionate human beings I have ever met. He gave me years of additional companionship with my dog after bringing him back from the edge of death more than once. Jamie now rests peacefully under a large tree by a stream in Reno. May your family rejoice in the knowledge of how much pleasure you brought to so many others.
One of the greatest parts to being a realtor is that along the way there are special clients that become fantastic friends - that is the case with M1 (Marcia) and Mike(y). What one of a kind people that I love. Our tremondous loss is Heaven's gain. One day soon we'll see you and I can't wait:) M2
Dr Horton we will miss you. You had not been our vet for as long as I would have liked but during the past year we saw a lot of you due to our dear Bella. You and your staff were so kind and I don't know of any other vet who would have driven a cat to a funeral home to help during such a hard time. We are in shock and send prayers to your wife and family.

Dr. Horton was the best. I drove from Dayton to bring my dogs to him. He was also a good friend. My kids (Sadie & Buster) will truly miss him and so will I. My heart goes out to the staff that has worked for him for so long. My prayers are with his wife and son at this time.
What a horrible tragedy and loss. Dr. Horton was a great man and an asset to the Fairborn community. Even when I moved away to Springboro I would still make the drive to take my dog to see him. He is with the Lord now smiling down on us. I will pray for your family during this difficult time.
Michael was my veterinarian and my friend for over twenty five years...in Sept. of 2007 he hosted my wedding at his house and stood up as our best man...I have lost a friend, my cats have lost their care taker, his wife has lost the best of the best and the community has lost a great friend, the last of the great gentleman.
The universe will shed a million tears.
Michael..say hello to Jack for me.

Dr. Horton was an amazing asset to our community. My "kids" Dora and Sydney and the rest of our family will miss him so much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and staff.
This is a tragic loss for our community, Mike was a rare person, who cared passionately about so many things and worked diligently to make Fairborn a better place to live. He will be missed in more ways than we can now realize. Mike was a person who believed in the right things and did the right things. God blessed this community with his presence. Marcia, we are with you in this difficult time.
We are shocked to hear of this tradegy. Dr. Horton was a wonderful man and an awesome vet. He will be missed by all creatures, great and small. Our thoughts are with his family and his office staff during this very sad time.
Dr. Horton was the first and only vet to treat our senior female dog with care and kindness. She was "kiddo" to him:-) He will be truly missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and of course also his wonderful staff. May we all find comfort in our wonderful memories.
The last time I visited Dr Horton was a very sad time for me. I had to have my dog, Tasha, put down. Dr Horton and his staff helped me through this very difficult time. He always called the animals "kids". And he always treated them like they were his "kids". I will certainly miss him, as will all his "furry" clients.
We are absolutely shocked and broken hearted to hear of this awful tragedy. Mike was a wonderful person and an awesome vet. He will be missed greatly by all creatures, great and small. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and office staff during this awful time.

Dr. Horton was such a nice person. He cared for all our "kids",as he called all his patients, for nearly 20 yrs. He sat on the floor and cried with me as we let our lovely Sara Jane, our Greyhound with sarcoma, go. He was truly a wonderful man. We will all miss him so much.

If we have it right you will be met on "The Rainbow Bridge" by thousands of loving animals. You were an inspiration to so many people, and a saviour to many animals. Bless you Michael Horton.
What a great loss to Fairborn and the animals. Dr. Horton was our Sullivan's vet for years, and I always appreciated the kind and gentle nature he had, both with the animals and their "parents." :) He will be missed by many, and our condolences to the family and staff he leaves behind.
Dr Horton was one of a kind, he took time out one Christmaseve to remove a bone from my dogs throat when I was a child. I have never gone to another vet in 30 years. He had a gentel way about him, and he cared for all he saw, human and animal alike. He will be greatly missed

Dr. Horton's caring and giving ways were inspirational. His passing is a tremendous loss to the community. May his family and friends find peace in knowing that all the good that he has done will live on.
I hate this for his family...for all of us. Fairborn will never be the same. He was a true humanitarian.

This is so hard to believe. Just 2 weeks ago our families were sharing a wonderful weekend of great food, great weather and symphony at the lake house. Thanks for the memories and thanks for all you have done to help not only the animals and people near and far but the environment as well. Your positive impression on Fairborn and the surrounding areas will last lifetimes! RIP Dr. Horton.
