You will forever be my hero... I hope St Peter had you by the hand when you took One giant step into Heaven. Godspeed Neil Armstrong and may you teach all the other angels how to really fly.
January 10, 2013
I remember the time when I met Neil. It was in 1963 shortly after his son's birth, when he flew a C47 aircraft up to Ely, Nv (High Range Tracking Station) to deliever supplies to us. We operated one of the tracking stations for the X-15 program and he was one of the test pilots. He passed out cigars and candy bars celebrating the birth of a son. I wish I had saved the cigar. But I cherish the NASA autographed picture of Neil and the other X-15 pilots. He will be greatly missed by all.
December 31, 2012

You will forever be a man to inspire people. Young and old. People are stars, they shine long after their dead but eventually the light fades away. You Neil Armstrong are a light that will shine in the sky for a long time. You will light the way through peoples dark times. And glow in our hearts forever. Born in the world Forged in the stars.
Ashley Elston, future writer, 16.

October 14, 2012
Neil Armstrong has been my hero since 1969 and each year his courage and personal manners have influenced me as a normal citizen. This man was only second to George Washington as my personal hero. Good bless his elegance, wonderful character, manners, heroism, faith in America, and as a model for all Americans. Will any American show such courage again? I pray for someone who can move Americans as the Honorable Neil Armstrong did.

I'm now 70 years old and will do anything to keep our Country a model for all the World's citizens. Neil Armstrong is the model for all of us.

God Bless Neil Armstrong.
October 13, 2012
The Umiverse is one of the most wonderful things that God has created. And for Mr. Armstrong to have a part in seeing that is super wonderfull. He experienced something that few people will ever experience. I know he must have seen God in a way that done of us will ever see Him. Rest in peace Mr. Armstrong and wait until you are awaken to see what God really has in store for you and the rest of mankind, May God comfort the family in their time of sorrow.

YOU ARE UP THERE WITH ERNEST AND PHYLLIS & ALL THE GREAT ONES THAT DIED THIS YEAR. RIP
September 01, 2012
Neil, I watched wide eyed while you stepped onto the surface of the Moon. I was thinking of how you and Buzz were two of the bravest men on any planet or moon. There has never been or ever will be greater men than you Neil Armstrong and your partners in your most famous journey. You are my hero and I salute you.
September 01, 2012
He stepped out into an unknown place
As far as we'd ever been in space....
Not knowing if he would live or die
The world will never forget that cry...
"One small step for man....a giant step for mankind"
It rang loud as it implanted in our mind.
It was a vast domain, yet unexplored
But brave men ventured where none had before.
Our world would never be the same...
So we proudly give tribute to this fallen name.
Astronaut Armstrong,walk on,fly high...
Wave once or twice as you pass the sky.
One day we will surely meet...
And gold we'll tread beneath our feet.
~Rest in Peace~

When Neil Armstong set foot on the moon and famously said, "a giant step for mankind", I was a student privileged to be watching on TV in Vienna while on a college kids seminar around western and eastern Europe. The next day after Neil landed, we flew to Moscow, the then capital of the USSR. On on a subway car in Moscow I sat across from an elderly kerchiefed woman. She said, "Me Russki, you?" I replied, "Americanski." She said, "Yay Armstrong!" Her joy and wisdom made me a planet earth citizen on the spot. Thank you Neil. Rest in the peace that you suggested to the world in your humility on your landing.

Sincerely,
Carol

ve all of us.

There are times when the right words are hard to find; this is one of them. For those of us who were alive in 1969 we will always remember how proud we were of the entire NASA team, and especially the Apollo 11 astronauts. It goes without saying that we were all proud to be citizens of the USA - - and always will be proud.
Sympathy to his family whose memories go well beyond the moon landing.
August 31, 2012
I remember running to meet Neil Armstrong years ago, when I was hugely pregnant with my first child. How charming and wonderful he was! My husband asked if we could all have a picture together, and Neil agreed. Years later, my children carried that picture everywhere, always telling the story of how it came to be.

We wouldn't let Neil pay for the service that we gave him, at our little Midwest dealership--We just wanted him to know how thankful we were for all he and his family had sacrificed for America. That made him smile!

The entire Oliver C. Joseph Family will look up at tonight's Blue Moon and send loving prayers to Neil, our Great American Hero. He will Never be forgotten. God Bless and Godspeed!
August 31, 2012
This candle is lit to light neils journey. What a man and the things he accomplished. R.I.P.
August 31, 2012
A true hero, an example of devoted scientist and extraordinary pilot. Above of all, a simple and humble human being who was well awarded on representing mankind out of our birthplace.
August 31, 2012
I remember watching the Apollo landing in my elementary school classroom along with all my classmates -- what a wonder it was to witness! And what a remarkable man to be a part of the sort of adventure most of us will never know. Praying for the family, and can't even begin to imagine the sights he's seeing now. God bless you all.
August 31, 2012
My condolences go to the Armstrong family, who has had the pleasure to have an American Hero. America misses you Neil as you look over us. We miss the man, who said ",That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind," as took the first step on the moon when the Eagle landed.
-R.I.P. Neil
August 31, 2012
I grew up in those amazing days of Apollo. Neil Armstrong, you are such a hero to me, for the skill and courage you displayed, and even more for the humble way that you dealt with the situation that all that fame placed you in. All true Americans have lost a piece of themselves with your passing.
You are the best that any of us can hope to be. May your journey again be safe as you slip the surly bonds of Earth to touch the face of God.
August 31, 2012
You will never be forgotten. Safe travels Commander.
August 31, 2012

To the family of Neil Armstrong,

Our sympathy for the loss of a great American. We have always felt a special connection to Mr. Armstong as his father was a friend of my grandfather's (John Carl Waidner of Columbus, OH) and was a pall bearer at his funeral. It is so comforting to know that even though we miss them terribly, they are all together now. We are praying for courage and peace for your family.
August 31, 2012
My wife and I saw you land on the moon on that memorable day. I shook your hand and was the Police Officer responsible for your security detail during your visit to Montreal, friend to you and your wife during your stay and Mayor Drapeau reception at City Hall. We will miss you and remember your achievements as you travel on your new journey. A proud Canadian and proud to have had the opportunity to know you and shake hands with a friend the first man who walked on the moon, God be with you.
August 31, 2012
I was 9 years old when I stepped into my back yard in Melbourne, Florida to witness Apollo 11 blast off from KSC. I saw you take your first footsteps on the surface of the Moon. You became not only my hero, but everyone who had the imagination to dream. I am now 52 and work at the very building that launched you into space so many years ago. It shows that a child's dream can become a reality and it was all because you took that first step for all of us. God bless you Commander Armstrong and thank you. ; Wink!
August 31, 2012
Neil , you left this earth a better place by being here. God love you.
August 31, 2012

August 30, 2012
Your husband /Father gave me the best 14th Birthday present ever. My Birthday is July 20, 1955..so I was 14 years old when he stepped onto the moon. My Family and I watched anxiously on TV and then we had cake and ice cream. My Parents, (who I adored) convinced me that he did that walk for just me, for my birthday present, and YES I was gullible enough to believe them. He was/is truly my American Hero. I am so sorry for your loss as well as all of America. GOD be with you through your grief and may Neil Armstrong rest in peace. Thank you for sharing him with us and may you find some consolation in knowing that this world grieves with you.
August 30, 2012
Mr. Armstong was an idol and a hero during my teenage years. Neil had a career that most engineer's can only dream of. He will always be an inspiration to anybody pursuing an engineering career. Please rest in peace, Mr. Armstrong.

August 30, 2012
A poem I just finished. Rest in peace.

Kiss of the Eagle

Many eons passed on Earth, who only saw your face
Untouched your virgin body, floating there in space
Waxing, waning, gibbous, crescent, full and new
Selene the Greeks would call you; Diana, Caesar knew

Who would brave the ether, who would cross the void
To agitate the tranquil sea you had so long enjoyed
To place a kiss upon your lips and return to tell the tale
Of Luna's hidden secrets beneath her powdered veil?

Three heroes took the final quest aboard their fiery steed
In Apollo's silver chariot proceeding with godspeed
Three days and nights they voyaged to their opalescent goal
On Earth they watched and worried inside of mission control

One held the craft outside the reach of Luna's jealous grip
While Eagle's talons cradled two who risked the final trip
They timidly approached her through the shadowy abyss
Luna waited patiently and received the Eagle's kiss

Nations watched and cheered on Terra's distant shore
As one man finally took a step no one ever took before
In our hearts and in our minds his words will be enshrined
"That's one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind."
August 30, 2012
Thank you, Neil for helping make that "giant leap for mankind."
August 30, 2012
God Bless You Mr Armstrong for your courage and patriotism. My condolences to the Armsrong family and all his friends. You were a true American Hero.

August 30, 2012
May God comfort you all during your loss. Thanks for sharing Neil with the world. He made an amazing difference in history and all the lives he touched.
August 30, 2012
To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

I met Neil at a golf tournament long ago in Cromwell, CT and was impressed by his humility. He graciouly gave me an autograph. I put the signed autograph in a bag which was given to all players. When I left the event, I picked up the bag and left for home, but when I arrived home and opened the bag I wsa horrified to notice I had the wrong bag! I should have but the signature in my shirt pocket. What a foolish as of stupidity.

Remember the morning very well, 11 years old, what a brilliant day to remember. Saw the moon last night and said a prayer for you Neil Armstrong, and gave your moon a wink. Good bless you and look after you.

Like the mission to the moon, you too must make your personal journey to your Father in Heaven now. Like the moon mission, one day you will return to the earth to your physical body on judgment day - never to be separated again. Body and soul will be joined and united forever. You are truly my hero, my inspiration and the wind beneath my wings. God bless you Neil -Webster needs to redefine the word "courage." Dolores Kuzniar, Cleveland, Ohio - Email ruthie.2010@hotmail.com

August 29, 2012
You were picked to do a job, and oh, what a job that must have been. Sympathy to his family and friends.
August 29, 2012
My condolences to the lost of your love one. Death is something that was not meant for humankind, because God, he created humans with a yearning to live forever (Ecclesiastes 3:11). However our loving God gives us a wonderful hope that 'death will be brought to nothing' and that we will see our love ones again (1 Corinthians 15:26; Mark 5:39-42).
August 29, 2012
A Great American and hero. From simple roots to soaring to the highest dream. Neil definitely was a great role model to younger folks. An Eagle Scout himself who had an avid interest in flying. Millions of Americans were always so proud of him and the other 21 astronauts (20 M and 2 F) who were Purdue grads.
Neil, thanks for selecting Purdue over MIT for your engineering education. You made us proud!
May God Bless you and we will never forget your accomplishments.
From a fellow Purdue engineering alum.

August 29, 2012
A man that gave away his private life and became a man of the people. I was in awe as he stepped out and walked on the moon. It was scary to me and then I heard him speak in the deliberate quiet voice and said what he did was for mankind. Who would ever imagine the impact it would make on the world. He was and will always remain a memory of what a selfless great man is. I wish his family well, and can only imagine the memories that will stay with you forever. Gone from this life but never forgotten. Fly free!

Was very kind man. He will never be forgotten.

Thanks to explorers like Mr. Armstrong, we have learned precious facts about the moon that add meaning to our own existence. For example, almost half the moon's soil is made up of tiny glass particles that reflect light. Even moon rocks have small glass-lined pits made to reflect light. Discoveries like these confirm that the moon was carefully designed and 'put into the expanse of the heavens to shine upon the earth by night.'(Genesis 1:17)
August 29, 2012
A true giant,
Neil is the reason I still stare up at the night sky hoping for a glimpse of something. I feel lucky to have lived during his lifetime.

Mr Armstrong, one of the best roll models we have ever had, will be sadly missed by many. He was an inspiration to a generation of us and we will never forget him and keep his memory alive in our children. There are so few good roll models today, we hate to see him go, but he did his duty and we are proud to have watched his moon walk live on tv.
My sympathy and prayers go out to his family and friends. You can be very proud of all he accomplished in his life, as I know you are. Forever he will remain in our hearts and mind. God Bless you! Good bye Mr Armstrong, until we meet again in heaven!

An American Icon! RIP!
August 28, 2012
Mr. Armstrong, I thank you and your Apollo XI colleagues for inspiring humanity to reflect upon matters quite beyond the pale. The Second Indochina War, in which I'd recently been a combatant, was making billionaires wealthier by the minute; but the expedition to Luna which you commanded succeeded in temporarily blocking thoughts of pain and suffering from the minds of hapless millions worldwide. You are a friend I never met, a permanent friend of humanity. The universe is in your debt. Rest in peace, Mr. Armstrong; and happy landings forever!
August 28, 2012

Life like a mist appears for just a day, then disappears tomorrow. All that we are can quickly fade away, replaced with tears and sorrow.
If a man should die, can he live again?
Hear the promise God has made:

He will call, the dead will answer
They shall live at His command
For He will have a longing for the work
of His own hand
So have faith and do not wonder
For our God can make us stand
And we shall live forever
As the work of His own hand

The life of this man reflected his core values on so many levels. May you, as his family, be comforted, strengthened and honored in every way by the testimony of his life, humility and desire to serve his God and his country. From a grateful citizen of this Great Nation...his words as he stepped on the moon will never be forgotten.

A wonderful American Hero. May you Rest in Peace.
August 28, 2012
I had no idea the impact he had on my mind, until he was gone.
I know of him for an achievement well before my birth, and that was just the introduction to an example of how to act even in the quiet times. He was also a reminder than our heroes are made of the same stuff we are, and all we have to do is choose to be that dedicated, all the time.
May his memory power those who miss him to achieve great things, especially when no one is looking.

My husband is a Purdue Alum and proud to take our kids to show them the honory statue and aeronautical buiilding in your name. We wanted to show them what a true hero was. One that is humble, had integrity and was just doing his job. That was you Mr. Armstrong! You will never be forgotten in the hearts of America.
August 28, 2012
Neil, you are gone from us too soon. As a teenager, I was excited and proud to follow each new space mission. You were an integral part of a magnificent team that made America proud. As an adult, I've come to appreciate your individual accomplishments, contributions, and sacrifices in service to our country. America could not have wished for a better ambassador for its space program and to so humbly and graciously carry the burden of celebrity for being "First Man." Neil, you did an incredible job here on Earth and you will never be forgotten. Your life will forever shine as a beacon to future engineers, explorers, and dreamers. For me, you will always be THE man in the moon, and will think of you each time I see it. I hope you are once again in a cockpit, gliding through the heavens, at peace, and in the company of family, friends, and colleagues who have gone before. My sincere thanks to your family for the sacrifices they endured sharing you with us, and my deepest sympathy to them at your passing. The whole planet shares their sadness, but also rejoices for your life well lived.
Godspeed, Neil Armstrong, and thank you. You have earned your rest.
August 28, 2012
Neil is one of thoes Giants, as in the saying goes, "Standing on Shoulders of Giants". his family and this country has lost someone truly amazing, but he will be remembered in all of our hearts! He will always be in mine! I know God is happy to have him up by his side, and my best wishes and condolences goes to his wanderful family.

Hopefully, the many entries in this guestbook will give some degree of comfort to your grieving family.

Not many of us get to do what they love. Flying was your thing. And by the the luck of the draw, it took you all the way to the moon and the first footsteps on another world. And with the help of all who worked on the project, the whole world was able to look over your shoulder.

We all touched the moon along with you, Neil. And we'll forever be thankful for what you and your crewmates bravely did during those fateful days in July of 1969. You inspired a whole generation just by you being you. God bless you.
August 28, 2012
I will always remember him for his grace and kindness after his moon walk. I was honored to meet him in the early 80's at a Dayton function. And he was a quiet soft spoken man. My prayers to his family and blessings for all he has done for us and our Ohio history.

Godspeed to a gerat hero. Thank you.
August 27, 2012
My condlences to the Armstrong family. Commander Armstrong was one of the big heros of my youth. I was a space junkie and he was incredible. The computer overload on the landing, the Gemini 8 abort with Dave Scott, and the eject on the lunar simulator. And those are the things we know about. I'm sure there were more. He was integral on the Challenger and Columbia investigations. I know he felt badly about what our manned space program had become, and totally agree, but can't help think he marvels at the technology we employ today from Hubble to the Mars landers. And he landed on the moon with the computer capacity of a 10-30 dollar computer today, maybe 128K, if that. I wish he did more public interviews and expressed his views, but that wasn't him and we should respect him for his wishes. He gave so much to all mankind. Neil, you'll be missed.Amazing person. -Alan Struth, Findlay, 1981-1986, Irvington, NY

My mother woke me up so I could see your first step. As I got older, I learned the importance of that night. In the early '70's, while I was visiting the Walker family with my parents, I had the opportunity of meeting you and shaking your hand when you stopped by to visit your friend Bill Walker in Lebanon. What a treat and fabulous memory! Thank you for being a TRUE American and being a VERY important square in the quilt that makes up this great country. Whenever I look up at the moon, I'll smile thinking of you and your life.
August 27, 2012

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

It will forever be one of the most exciting moments of my life. Thank you Neil Armstrong for being such an inspiring example. It took real courage and skill to land the lunar lander and to risk your life on one engine to get you home. Engineers everywhere are proud of how you represented our profession. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin rightly deserve their place in History, right at the pinnacle of 20th Century achievement.

While it took the determination of JFK and 10,000 brilliant engineers to get them to the Moon, it was they, with Mike Collins, who went out to that Saturn 5 standing on Pad number 39A and put their lives on the line.

It was only thanks to Neil taking over the controls and keeping cool under so much pressure that they made it down to the surface.

Until Man finally Lands on Mars theirs will be remain the greatest achievement of the Human Race.

Yet despite such fame and all the accolades and commercial opportunities that must have come his way, Neil dedicated much of the remainder of his working life to teaching Engineering.

Rest In Peace, Neil Armstrong, you have been a wonderful example to us all.
August 27, 2012
"When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained; What is man that You take thought of him" Psalms 8:3
Neil Armstrong was an inspiration for many of us not only as an astronaut and moonwalker, but in the way in which he lived his life afterward. Together with the names of Copernicus, Galileo, Newton and Einstein, all of whome showed us the way into space, the name Armstrong will forever be remembered as the first human to stand on another world.

Thank you to a true American hero. RIP.

An extraordinary life well lived by a humble gentleman, patriot and pioneer.
Our nation and the world thirst for exemplary leaders and role models such as Mr. Armstrong.
I am grateful and proud to have lived in an era of history when character and deed still meant something.
May God rest his soul and bring comfort and peace to his family.
August 27, 2012
I remember where I was and what I was doing the day Mr. Armstrong walked on the moon. Many times since then I've wanted to remember certain dates but couldn't. Then I realized I could almost exactly pin point the memory when I remembered July 20, 1969.

May the Lord wrap His gentle Arms around you his loved ones and bring you peace and comfort during this difficult time.

God speed Mr. Armstrong, now you're still walking where non of us have walked.

To The Armstrong Family,

I am so sorry for the loss of Neil. I was saddened to hear of his passing. You never think someone like him will ever pass on. I never knew him personally yet it seemed like Neil Armstrong was always someone in the life of young Americans after they heard of his walk on the moon. May you be comforted in your loss and know that an entire nation stands with you in your grief and prays for you. We lost a hero but you lost someone far more important, a beloved family member.

To Mr. Armstrong's family: My sincere condolences in Neil's passing. I, too, remember being fixed in front of the television as a little girl, witnessing my first, and really only, historical event in real life. I never knew Neil but always admired him for his work and thought his private ways were admirable as well.

May he rest in peace knowing he did many good things in life, not only for himself, but for many others.
August 27, 2012
This man lived a long and accomplished life. He will always be in our remembrance as well as God's. My prayers are with the Armstrong family.

August 27, 2012
you were my hero there will never be anyone else like you
August 27, 2012
I was only 2 and half years old when the landing occurred. My mother said that when it was on TV, that is was the ONLY time in my Terrible Two's that I actually sat down and was quiet the entire time. She was amazed at how "transfixed" I was to the set
Sadly I dont recall it, but it must have sparked my interest in space and exploration. I never missed watching a shuttle launch that was televised even after the Challenger trajedy.
Thank you God for amazing and crazy-brave folks like Mr. Armstrong and his collegues.

I understand he didnt want to be called a hero. My grandma told me that heros are those who rush in where angels rarely tread (her paraphrase of another great quote). I have grown to understand that.

RIP modern-day hero and inspiration of many generations to come. My condlences to his family and friends and to all at NASA who mourn.
August 27, 2012

I'm an Ohioan living in the UK. My daughter (now 18) had to do a project on "Heros" when she was in Year 1 and she chose Neil Armstrong. She was so proud that as she was "half-Ohioan" that this famous astronaut was the first man on the moon. She memorised his famous words "One small step" long before she learnt to properly write her full name. We always remember you when we have our telescope out gazing at our moon! God bless you Sir!

JULY 20, 1969 THE RALPH GILLETLY FAMILY CONSISTED OF 7 PEOPLE, FIVE OF THEM CHILDREN. WE SPENT THE DAY WITH OUR FRIENDS BILL & WILDA & THEIR 5 CHILDREN WATCHING THEIR LARGE SCREEN TV AND THE MOON EXCURSION WITH NEIL AND HIS CREW. OUR YOUNGEST WAS 4 YRS. OLD AND THE OLDEST WAS JUST DAYS AWAY FROM BEING 11 YRS OLD. WE WERE ALL SITTING AND WAITING PATIENTLY BUT ANXIOUSLY FOR NEIL TO STEP DOWN ON TO THE SURFACE OF THE MOON. THE CHEERS THAT THE 10 KIDS LET OUT WHEN THE FOOT APPEARED AND TOUCHED THE MOON WERE DEAFENING. THE ADULTS WERE ALSO QUITE VOCAL AS I RECALL. AS OHIOANS WE WERE VERY PROUD THAT A BUCKEYE WAS CHOSEN FOR THAT HISTORY MAKING EVENT & STEP. NOW WE ALL MUST MOURN THE LOSS OF A GREAT AMERICAN BECAUSE GOD HAS CALLED HIM HOME. TO NEIL'S FAMILY I SEND MY HEARTFELT PRAYERS AND SYMPATHY AT THE LOSS OF YOUR HUSBAND, FATHER AND GRANDFATHER. YOUR LOSS IS GREAT.YOUR MEMORIES ARE GREAT AND FOREVER. NEIL, REST IN PEACE FOR AWHILE AND THEN I'M SURE GOD WILL LET YOU EXPLORE MORE OF THE HEAVENS. THIS TIME THERE WILL NOT BE THE NEED OF SPECIAL CLOTHING AND HEAD GEAR. YOU WILL BE AS FREE AS THE SYMBOL OF OUR GREAT COUNTRY, THE BALD EAGLE. I ALSO THINK THEY WILL PART SO THAT YOU CAN PASS THRU THE HEAVENS AND THE AIR AS THEY STAND GUARD FOR SOMEONE AS GREAT AS YOU.
August 26, 2012
Our prayers are with the Armstrong family. GOD BLESS.

Sing, O heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains: for the LORD hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted.
This verse found @ Isaiah 49:13 has comforted me, I hope that t comforts you as well.
With Deepest Sympathy
August 26, 2012
Thanks for being courageous in exploring the moon for us. My prayers for your family.
August 26, 2012
He went where I wanted to go so badly*, and brought us joy and wonder, some of the best gifts anyone can give.

I will always have a visual memory of the motel room (in Pratt KS, as we were driving across country at that point) in which we watched the moon landing and first hours of walking.

He, backed by his family and comrades, allowed us to see something most of us would never see first-hand, and shared it with the world.

A. Marina Fournier, saffronrose@me.com

*I was 15, short, and female, which last excluded me from believing I could ever join the Astronaut Corps.

Neil Armstrong was an American hero, but after the moon landing, he stayed out of the spotlight for the remainder of his life. He was a brilliant astronaut and engineer, but a quiet and unassuming man. He could have used his fame to cash in for the rest of his life, but he chose to live a quiet existence, which made him an even greater man. Go with God, Neil Armstrong. May you look down upon the earth for eternity as you did so many years ago from Tranquility Base.

RIP Mr. Armstrong'..1 step for mankind.. 1 gaint step into heaven...You made a big impact on a lot of lives..You will always be remembered...
August 26, 2012
I remember being totally glued to the TV for the moon landing. The whole world was totally fascinated. R.I.P. Neil you are now flying higher, faster and further than ever.
August 26, 2012
Neil's passing is certainly a reminder of a different time – back when America united behind its finest citizens in order to turn science fiction into reality. Today's generation will probably never know the kind of nervous excitement we all felt as Eagle descended to the lunar surface on that incredible day. In the years that have passed, the men and women of the U.S. Space Program have continued to redefine the word “hero”. I would encourage everyone to attend the annual Astronaut Scholarship Foundation Autograph Show at KSC in November so that you can personally thank these voyagers for their service to our country.

May God Bless Neil Armstrong and all of his fellow pioneers.
August 26, 2012
I will never forget the first time I met Neil at Countryside YMCA. The chill I got on the back of my neck was a feeling I suppose I had never had before. To know beyond doubt that I was truly, by anyone's standards in the prescence of greatness. Neil had been a lifelong hero of mine and I was on pins and needles at the prospect of meeting him. When my father in law heard about it he said well that's just the same as meeting Christopher Columbus and I think that was a very apt analogy. I would not have been any more or less thrilled I am sure. Mark if you should happen to read this please know that our deepest sympathies are with you and your family. Carolyn and I would love to hear from you. Again, we are thinking of you in your time of loss and we are humbled to have known him. Tim Williams
August 26, 2012
Thank YOU FOR EVERYTHING
August 26, 2012
He was a "one of a kind" and will always remembered. Doing something that no man has ever done before. I could only imagine how he and his family felt when this happened. The whole world was holding there breath and stood silently. "Amazeing." You will be missed. May God bless the family of this wonderful person.
August 26, 2012
I will never forget standing my 2 and4 year old children in front of our little black and white tv, so they could see the landing of the first men on the moon. When you stepped out onto the moon's surface it was so exciing and emotional for me. Thank you for being brave enough to make this American so proud and grateful to be part of this great country! My condolences to your loved ones. May you rest now in our Father's loving arms.
August 26, 2012
I kept my four year old son and two year old daughter up to watch Neil walk on the moon. It was a wonderful sight! We got to visit The Neil Armstrong Museum in Ohio when the children were in high school and that was a big event for them also. I am sorry we did not meet Neil in person, but I did meet Buzz Aldrin in later years. Our sympyathy to all Neil's family.
August 26, 2012
Everybody will remember where they were when you took that step for mankind. RIP.

August 26, 2012
Deepest sympathy to your family. I don't think I realized how young I was when history was made - but with his passing, I've realized how even more fantastic his mission was. Please take comfort, in realizing that he's now in a part of the Heavens, where no spaceship of any kind can contain him - and there is perfect peace. God bless.
August 26, 2012
Good night Commander. You made us proud for eternity.
August 26, 2012
I was 14 at the time of the first moon landing. I was glued to Walter Cronkite all day waiting for the landing. I remember the quote "...the Eagle has landed" as if it was yesterday. Several hours later my whole family and the next door neighbor huddled in front of the TV to watch the walk. After Neil made his famous quote and Buzz joined him on the surface, I spent my time going from the TV to outdoors where I looked up at the moon in amazement. For some reason I saluted the moon when the American Flag was planted. To this very day I still do a quick salute of the moon the first time I see it each night. Only I know that I do it and at this point it's more out of habit than anything else. But the next time I see the moon, that salute will be a little slower and held a little longer as I remember Neil. I'm proud to have been alive during the period when man first set foot upon the moon. My grand kids will read about it in history books, but I feel like I was part of it. Neil, Buzz, Mike, and Walter Cronkite will always be part of what I remember about July 20, 1969. God bless Neil and good bye.
August 26, 2012
Neil Armstrong is the true definition of All American. A true American Legend. God Bless.

RIP. Niell, Audrey Cantrell and family from Ireland,
My son at a very young age was a great admirer, your name will live on condolences to your family.
August 26, 2012
I remember my eleven year old anxious anticipation of the lunar landing and your famous "The Eagle has landed." Even more amazing to me was your feet touching the moon's surface and your quote heard through the universe "One small step for man. One giant leap for mankind." Even though I was a mere child, you made me SO VERY PROUD to be an American, a pride which has continued through my adulthood. Rest in peace, American hero, in the Heavens you conquered! The moon will ALWAYS remind me of the courage and heroism of "just doing your job." May your family take comfort in knowing that the world grieves the loss of a TRUE HERO who shied away from glory!

With deep sympathy,
August 26, 2012

. 3 With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: “Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. 4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. August 26, 2012
I did not know Mr. Armstrong personally, but I have a story about how he briefly touched my family which I think shows his quiet, unassuming character. It happened many years ago, when he first joined the staff at the University of Cincinnati. My parents always had seasons tickets to the UC football games, sitting in front of the Presidents Box. It was a rainy afternoon, everyone had their umbrellas up. During the first half, a man from the box tapped my mother on the shoulder and asked her to move her umbrella because water was dripping on hhim. Later at half time, when they introduced the new, famous professor, Mom realized that it was Neil Armstrong who had nicely spoken to her. When she returned home and excitedly told the story, I asked if she got his autograph. She said she was too embarrassed to even look at him again! However, Mom's main claim to fame was that she dripped water on the man who first walked on the moon. My condolences to his family.

Our prayers and thoughts are with your family. "You have slipped the bonds of Earth and have truly touched the face of God". We pray His angels surround your family in this time.

To family and friends,

I was floating on a raft in a pool in Long Beach, CA where I was in college at CSULB the day we landed. A TV was hooked up at the pool where we were having a party for the occasion. I will never forget the pride I had for my country that day, nor the day itself.

What a great Man he is...not was.

Bless you Neil.
August 26, 2012
Remembering my little family watching the thrill of our tv showing this heroic
gentleman walking on the moon. Now, I am 83 years old and remember this as a very special adventure in my life, thanks to the remarkable Neil Armstrong. Delores Ellis, Tucson, AZ, the thrill was seen in Charlotte, NC
all those years ago. And now, the great man is walking on the streets of
heaven where all there are clapping and shouting, "good job".
August 26, 2012
May the eternal light shine upon him.....
August 26, 2012
As a 10-year old living on Long Island at the time, I was thrilled to be able to attend the ticker tape parade in their honor. I'll never forget how close we were as they drove by. The way that he lived his life was further testiment to his wisdom, incredible perpective, and a model for those of us that get caught up in self-importance. Neil Armstrong is an inspirational pioneer who will never be forgotten.

Sincere sympathy and condolences to Neil's family, friends and entire American nation.
August 26, 2012
In the best traditions of Americans serving the nation, a humble man from the Buckeye State showed the world that what others dreamed of and thought impossible was a dream actually achievable. An exemplary life that proved that there are still heroes once walking among us. And when Armstrong arrived in heaven, JFK was there to say "thank you for proving that what I said was true. That in this decade Man will walk on the moon."

SINCEREST SYMPATHY TO THE ARMSTRONG FAMILY! THE "EAGLE" HAS LANDED IN THE
ARMS OF JESUS AND HE CAN VIEW THE
HEAVENS FOR EVERMORE!
August 26, 2012
There have been three events in my life that I share with every American who was alive at the time, remembering exactly where we were and what we were doing. Unlike the other two, this was a moment of immense pride and happiness as we watched Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon. Thank God that this honor fell to a man of class and integrity, who never used that fame in a way that brought discredit to the accomplishment.
August 26, 2012
Neil, you were an inspiration to me. I worked on the Moon Mission and was in awe of the great thing you said as you stepped on the moon, "One small step for man, one giant step for mankind". How humble to be standing on the moon and thinking about everyone else and not your own greatness. I later met you in person and saw that you were quietly a great human being. Now you have taken your final step as a man(and not a small step) and taken an even greater step into the House of the Lord. Your were a man many young children and people of all ages looked up to wanting to follow, in your great example of humbleness and strength, in their lifetime. Rest in Peace and God bless your family. They were proud of you in life and will be as even prouder of you in death. Your legacy will live on as long as the moon shines.
August 26, 2012
Now you are a shining star in the sky, you are and will always be an American Hero!
August 26, 2012
A very modest man, with a great achievement behind him. We all should be grateful for his work and the wonderful people, who made it happen. He will be always be remembered for his walk on the moon, but we should also remember those, who followed him, too.
I think, he should be honored with a postage stamp, with the other past astronauts.
My sympathy goes to the family and friends to you all.
August 26, 2012

August 26, 2012
I had the honor and privilege of interviewing Neil for his top secret security clearances as well as interviewing him as a reference for other clearances. On one occasion as I walked to his front door in the snow I noticed his foot steps in the snow and I thought to myself - Wow, those are the footsteps of the first man on the moon. I found Neil to be nervous, genuine, engaging, apprehensive about the invasion of his privacy, fascinating, humorous, courteous and polite. I was always pleased that I could help him protect his privacy and at the same time ensure our great republic's national security. He was also kind and polite to my son. My son and I will never forget Neil and his hospitality. Neil -
God Bless you and God Speed to you as journey into God's eternal universe.
Your friends The Singler Family

I remember your giant step. ...My family will always remember...blessings to you and your family.
August 25, 2012
The space program was an exciting thing for the USA in the 60's. I remember My Dad sat there with our Black & White and watched this happen as it was broadcast.
After that, he said if a man could step on the moon, he could quit smoking.
He did, but eventually he died of colon cancer a - preventable cancer now but not then.

Being an older parent, my son just found out about that he passed away and wanted to know how old he was, He was surprised. I told him that he continued to support and service the country wherever he could and he seemed comfortable with that answer. It is really important tat you talk to your children about important events because schools do no do their share of that activity.
August 25, 2012

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind,"
Enough said...
August 25, 2012
To borrow a line from another great American: "Thanks for the memories".
August 25, 2012
In many ways you will always and forever be with us. You were sent here for a purpose and touched all of humanity for eternity. But now, a new and bold journey awaits you. You showed strength and courage up until the very last second, and now it is up to us to be strong for you and to carry-on in a foot step we will never, never be able to fill. Many souls pass with barely a whisper, like the gentle breeze a leaf makes as it flutters to the ground. But there are others, such as yourself, who not only change and alter the collective conscience of mankind, but leave behind an endelible positive energy which like a infinite torch, touches the entire human race. Thank you, from all of us, for your long and loving life and participation and as like-minded fellow travelers, we will all join you some day.
A heartfelt and touching of the souls to all the family members. Let it be known, you are not alone during your time of grief. Angels are with him on this flight.

August 25, 2012
Neil Armstrong was a hero of mine from childhood. I was born a few years too late to watch the lunar landing, but he was an inspiration to me nonetheless. If an 'ordinary guy' could walk on the moon, then a fat little girl with glasses could grow up and learn to fly...and that's what I did. It's my fondest hope that my children's generation become the next generation of world walkers to carry on his legacy and that of the other astronauts who stepped foot on the moon.
August 25, 2012
Houston has lost this connection, Mr. Armstrong has made another. You were a pioneer and hero. My kindest regards to your family and friends.

I remember when you told several us new engineers at NASA, with tongue in cheek, that you didn't believe in exercise because the heart had so many beats in it so why use them up on exercise. you are really one of the great ones....honored that I knew you for a short time.
August 25, 2012

My Deepest Heartfelt Condolences to Neil Armstrong's Family & Friends. This Nation & the World as a whole has lost a Great Pioneer, Explorer, & Great Advocate of Manned Space Exploration. It goes without saying that in some ways that Neil Armstrong sometimes felt uncomfortable with his Fame. However, it was well deserved. His continued push for Manned Space Exploration, I hope, will finally be realized as we go back to the Moon, Mars, the Solar System, & Beyond. Neil Armstrong's name will NEVER be forgotten for his contribution that he & his fellow Apollo 11 & other U.S. Moon Missions have contributed to Manned Space Exploration. "GOD Bless You & Keep You, Neil Armstrong! Rest In Peace."

Watching this from England where I grew up,never imagining I would live in Florida and see a shuttle launch in real life, this little girl was enthralled by every moment of the Apollo missions, then the shuttle and now Curiousity on Mars...I still remain enthralled. Sir, you and your colleagues will always be my heros. RIP Neil and thank you.

Neil Armstrong, thanks for everything you've done for mankind. You were the personification of the giant leap. What amazed me most about you was that you've always been humble about your achievements, although they did make you a world-hero! I think that's what made you an amazing astronaut, one that everyone could identify with because you were still yourself. Thanks a lot for your contributions to aviation and space exploration. May Neil's legacy live on and may he be an example to all of us!
God be with all his loved ones he had to leave behind. Godspeed Neil!
August 25, 2012

August 25, 2012
One of America's true hero's. God bless you Neil Armstrong.
August 25, 2012
I will never forget the day human beings first walked on the moon. I am a "child of the space age," born not long after Sputnik orbited the earth. I grew up watching lift offs and splash downs, and those incredible videos of space walks and moon walks. Thank you, Neil Armstrong, and all your colleagues, living and dead, who have contributed to our first steps into outer space. In honor of Neil Armstrong, I suggest that we all petition the government to restore the funding to NASA so that someone living right now will be the first person to set foot on Mars. I propose that the first permanent colony on the moon or Mars be called "Armstrong City."
August 25, 2012
Mr. Armstrong, you will always be an American hero. Rest in peace.
August 25, 2012

I will never forget that night, watching on our black and white tv, the first man to walk on the moon. I was glued to it. And while Neil descended to the surface, I saw a full moon through the window. It was magic. Some time later, as I was working as a reporter for Belgian broadcast, I tried to interview him in Brussels. I stayed all night in the lobby of his Hilton Hotel, but he didn't show up. Only years later I could understand he was not a pr man for Nasa, just a guy with a mission. Neil, I hope you are on the other side of the moon and enjoy it. You will allways be my man in the moon !

To the Family and Friends of Mr Neil Armstrong, my prayers and most sincere condolences. The following is a verse that I wrote. I hope that it offers some solace.
The Strongest Man...(By Michael M. Kelly Sr.)
There never was a man so strong,
That the earth trembled as he walked about,
There never was a man so strong,
That the mountains shook when he would shout,
There never was a man so strong,
That the oceans would overflow if he wept,
But there was a man so strong,
That all that knew him will not forget.
August 25, 2012
If you were alive though you remember exactly where you were at the moment he stepped out onto the Lunar surface. Neil Armstrong with tens of thousands of workers supporting the effort took that giant leap and there can be only one first.

Neil was from Ohio and has retired to his home state with little fanfare.....a pretty private person. But there could be only one first and Neil was the man. Somehow when I heard this news a half hour ago I felt sort of empty. It was a a massive achievement and old Neil was just out there on the point, but there can be only one first.

There were some really wonderful missions to follow including the amazing story of Apollo 13. Men dug up rocks and drove around and even hit golf balls on the moon. Twelve men walked around on a heavenly body and excited us with exploits that we knew we would never make. The astronaut corps was made up of good people and supported by good people but when the goal was attained to walk upon the moon , it was Neil Armstrong......and there can be only one first.

Upon hearing the news my eyes immediately welled up with tears. I didn't know Neil or even think about him much as the years have passed. I look back through the years and find what a big deal the space program was to me and to many. Even as I railed against the war and my government and others called us peace-nik hippie freaks, we all came together on that July night in 1969 when Neil Armstrong spoke the words, "That's one small step for man; one giant leap for mankind." We went back to our corners and continued the fight but we had gone to the moon and Neil was the first and there can be only one first.

More than a man, a piece of history died today. Thank you Neil. You were the first.
August 25, 2012
What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.
August 25, 2012
We as Americans have lost a true hero, an icon, a role model for generations to come. I will keep his family in my prayers. God speed Neil Armstrong.

Mourning the passing of Neil Armstrong - a true American hero. To take such a leap of faith - literally and figuratively. I remember that night so clearly in the summer of 1969 right after graduating from high school. And like John Glenn ... a small town boy from Ohio. They both made Buckeye nation proud. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.

You carried us to the moon. Now may angels carry you to the moon's maker.
