I am lucky enough to be the oldest of the grand kids. Grandpa “Kenny” is truly someone that helped shape my life. Fond memories:
1. Lake Erie fishing, getting an Erie Derie hair cut, throwing his smokes at the age of 10 over board. Explaining to me who Grandma Betty is while fishing.
2. Teaching the crazy finger thing one up one down.
3. pat the head rub the belly trick.
4. having me help hunt “free” golf balls from road sides , woods, and even lakes.
5. Visiting me in college in Charleston.
6. Teaching me about 700 WLW, Earl Pitts, Gilbert Gnarley, & doing “we don’t we don’t we don’t mess around” together !!!
7. Filming 100’s of games for you with my own Dad high up in tiny crows nest boxes, remember 8 MM film, then Betta tapes.
8. Hunting quail, getting picked up by you at like 5:30 AM, driving in the station wagon to an unknown part of Ohio… sending birds out just so the dogs could point them.
9. Bahama Mamma Club !!! , & 1987 Watching you tell players they were not going to horse around and sending them home on the “ANKLE EXPRESS” .
10. Hand Printed cards, letters, pictures all the time.
11. Kissing you & you kissing me back the Thursday night before you passed. All alone talking about grits, black eyed peas, BBQ, cheap quality food, and good family values. Knowing you are so strong, and such a great Christian Man.

There are many more memories to many to list…..
Thanks Grandpa Kenny !

Mrs. Amlin & family,
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Amlin. He was our coach, our friend and our "Woody Hayes". He was "family" to us and long ago transcended just being our high school coach. He gave us criticism, advice, and direction. He attended our college games, reunions, weddings, hospitalizations, and sadly some funerals. He remembered names, numbers and games with details for years. Your family should be so proud because he made a difference. He was special and he leaves giant foot-prints. We are all better for his presence and will be lessened by his absence but are strengthened by his memories. We all loved him and will miss him so much. From one of Roth high school's football players and from my wife a Roth high school cheer leader both from the class of 1965. We would like to extend our deepest sympathy to the family of coach Amlin. He was not only one of the greatest to ever coach the game of football but a great person to have been associated with. He will always be remembered in our hearts. our prayers are with you.

Ten things I will always remember about Ken:
1. His devotion to family.
2. How he treated everyone as family.
3. Holding Court at Maggies or Rosenkrantz's.
4. Telling the same story 100 times and still making it interesting and funny.
5. How he he made coaching fun for me again.
6. Dissecting defenses with his run and shoot offense.
7. Naming plays after his former Roth player's like Frank Jackson.
8. Always deflecting success from himself and giving all the credit to his coaches or players.
9. Traveling great distances for a good home cooked meal.
10. Christmas shopping downtown for 5 hours and not buying a single present.(too busy greeting former players and students.)

Thanks for the memories Ken, I will never forget you.

Dear Pat and Family. Our sincere condolences to you. Ken meant so much to us. I thoroughly enjoyed the years we spent together coaching football. But it was more than football it was like family when we were with him. He taught our boys Mark and Steve and mentored them. They both played football proudly for him. Remember the Eagle Shuffle during warm up's? So many memories to cherish.I will never forget the times we ate out together with John. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.

Pat and family,
As Pam's cousin, I've always known what a wonderful man Steve is, and he definitely had a great role model in his dad. After reading these memories from many former students, it is easy to see why Ken was loved so much, not just by his family, but across the board. He had a long and happy life, and I know you will always cherish the years you had together. May God's Holy Spirit comfort you today and in the days ahead.
Sincerely,
Dan and Sue Bellman

Dear Amlin Family: Please know that you're in our continued prayers. Coach Amlin was an inspiration to those he coached and to those who watched him coach. While playing volleyball at CJ in the 80's, I had the privilege of meeting and knowing Coach Amlin. From his funny stories and cute reactions to adolescent stunts, he always made 'us girls' smile. His dedication and love for the game has influenced the lives of those who knew him. God Bless you Coach Amlin.

To Coach Amlin's Family and Friends, I am saddened by the lost of "The Coach". Mr Amlin will long remain an important leader and role model for me from the 3 years from 1960 to 1963 that I was a member of the Roth High School Falcon football team.

I really appreciated and respected Mr. Amlin. He was my football coach and Civics teacher at Roth High School when it was a new school. I graduated and joined the Marines, and visited him during summer football training. He took me to lunch and gave me lots of encouragement for the future - and recommended the business world. I just retired from the banking industry. We touched base and talked several times over the years - and he always had time to pass along his special brand of encouragement. He always talked about and had a heart for his "kids." He will be missed!
