News Death Notice
VITTITOW, Orville L. age 90 of Dayton, OH, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012. Orville was born July 16, 1922 in New Haven, KY, son of the late Orville and Catherine (Slater) Vittitow. He proudly served his country in the US Army during WWII from 1943-1946. Orville served in New Guinea and the Philippines where he built landing assault crafts. He was a Union Carpenter for 38 years, an expert cabinet maker and gardener. Orville was a member of St. Rita Catholic Church for 41 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, brother and friend. Mr. Vittitow is survived by his beloved wife of 64 ½ years, Willa; 8 children, Catherine (Washington) Logulo, Carol Adamson, Christine (Michael) Nestor, Cynthia (William) Lauber, James (Montse) Vittitow, Thomas (Janet) Vittitow Charles Vittitow and Susan (Brian) Mark; 23 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Nanyoung Kim; 2 brothers, Joseph (Doris) Vittitow and Harry Vittitow; 4 sisters, Julia Atchison, Roseann Bowling, Dorothy Toney and Mary (Robert) Parman; brother-in-law, Joseph (Phyllis) Wills; many other loving family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Joseph Vittitow; brother, Charles Vittitow. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 AM Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at St. Rita Catholic Church, 5401 N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45415. Interment Calvary Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 6-8 Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at Baker-Hazel & Snider Funeral Home & Crematory, 5555 Philadelphia Dr. at N. Main St., Dayton, OH 45415. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Rita Catholic Church or a charity of your choice, in Orville's memory.
