COOK, Otis Dathan age 81, of Springboro, Ohio, died Saturday March 23, 2013 at Hospice of Butler/Warren Counties. Otis was born in Minnie, Kentucky to Roy and Marie (Martin) Cook. Otis served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War, was a member of Eastern Star Lodge #55 F&AM, A.A.O.N.M.S., charter member of Franklin VFW Post #7596, was the first President of the Springboro Eagles, and was active for many years as chairman of the Warren County Democratic Party. He loved literature and was the author of "Mountain Grown". Otis was employed with Monsanto for several years and retired from the State of Ohio as a State Auditor Supervisor. Otis was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Marie Cook, and a sister, Carolyn Sue Stephens. Otis is survived by his wife Nancy (Showlskis) Cook, sons Greg Cook of Cincinnati, Phillip (Susan) Cook of Franklin, Rob Alvey of Franklin, Ron ( Angie) Alvey of Lebanon, a daughter Rebecca Brock of Franklin, 6 grandchildren Steven Cook, Jason Alvey, Eric Alvey, Brittany Alvey, Ryan Alvey, Kyler Alvey, 4 great grandchildren, a brother Wallace (Brenda) Cook of Franklin, and a sister Martha (Claude) McKenzie of Drift, KY. Funeral services are Friday March 29, 2013 at 7pm at Anderson Funeral Home n40 N. Main St Springboro, OH. Visitation Will be Friday from 6-8pm at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Buter/Warren Counties 5940 Long Meadow Dr Franklin, OH 45005 or Alzheimer's Association 644 Linn St Suite 1026 Cincinnati, OH 45203. I was sorry to hear of Otis' passing . We have know each other many years. He helped me get my job at Monsanto, and we worked together about 18 years. We pray that God will be with you and family at this sad time.
