TRIVIA "Beloved Infidel" Tale of the fate - tossed romance between F. Scott Fitzgerald and Sheilah Graha.. Beautifully acted. Has strong appeal. DIRECTION: Fine. PHOTOGRAPHY: Impressive. "The Journey" Brilliantly-made and superbly acted drama. Moves with ticking excitement against background of Hungarian revolt. Outstanding box office picture. Strangely enough, it's not been seen on the small tube. . . . DIRECTION: Excellent. PHOTOGRAPHY: Excellent. "The Sundowners" Adventure drama with comic touches set in Australia. Puperb cast. Has entire-family appeal DIRECTION: Able. PHOTOGRAPHY: Very Good. "Prudence and the Pill" Adult comedy of charm and glitter. Fine cast. Good viewing. DIRECTION: Able. PHOTOGRAPHY: Inventive. You don't have to be in the film business to know that Deborah Kerr is frequently described with what is often now an ill-treated word. . . ."nice." This reputation has survived such smoldering films as "FROM HERE TO ETERNITY" and "THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA."

Deborah Kerr was made a Commander of the Order of the British Umpire (CBE) in 1998, but was unable to accept the honour in person due to ill health. She was also honoured in Hollywood where, for her contributions to the motion picture industry, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, at 1709 VINE STREET. Althou she never won a BAFTA, Oscar or Cannes Film Festival award in competitive category, all three academies gave her honorary awards.

Here is a thought - just a reminder, of my own, recently I saw one of my all time bestes (favorite Deborah Kerr films) back from 1943 or 1945 - this one had the original title of "The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp." Renamed, when it was brought to the United States as "COLONEL BLIMP." The New York Times, March 30th, 1945, had (in part) this review by Mr. Thomas M. Pryor. . . . Roger Livesey (Clive Candy) Anton Walbrook(Theo Kretschmar-Schuldorrr) Deborah Kerr (Edith Hunter / Barbara Wynne / Johnny Cannon) Roger Livesey was an ideal choice for the leading role, Clive Candy. Anton Walbrook gives a completely winning performance as the Prussian officer. Through this motion picture Deborah Kerr, a lovely and talented actress, plays three different ladies in the life of the general Clive Candy with remarkable dexterity. There is an English governess, Edith Hunter, the daughter of a wealthy Yorkshire mill-owner, Barbara Wynne, and Johnny Cannon a girl in the Mechanised Transport Corps. Deborah Kerr plays the three roles with versatility and distinction in her three-part role.

I've made it a rule to speek the name Deborah Kerr once every day and let my life go on from there. . .the memories from the night "seascape" opened in New York will remind me of our meeting after the program. YOU, certainly, are a charmer! There is still another reminder that September 30th is a day to remember. . .
