I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie's parents at my first Elvis concert in Mobile AL on September 14, 1970. They were down to earth people and never let on or bragged about their son playing with Elvis during the time we chatted with them about being from Alabama originally and having survived Hurricane Camille in Biloxi. We talked for some time before we learned they would be escorted backstage to meet Elvis and that their son, Charlie Hodge, was playing in Elvis' band. It was a great honor to meet them and I wanted to meet Charlie and Elvis backstage but it was not meant to be. My sister saw Charlie's show at Memories Theater and I saw the video. Charlie was the best person to be with Elvis all those years and he did all he could to make Elvis a better person. Charlie had a positive attitude and was looking forwarding to returning to the stage after a short rest. May he rest in peace and join the Angel band with Elvis in Heaven.

My deepest sympathy to Charlie's family. He will truly be missed. I never had a chance to meet him, but I know from interviews that I saw, that he was a true southern gentleman. He and Elvis will be making beautiful music together in Heaven. God Bless you, Charlie
