Many people enjoyed the presence of Charlie at Memories...including everyone who worked there. I, as owner, loved his humor, contributions to the show and talent. Miss you like crazy Charlie...you are aways there with us as we start our 26th year. The ETA's, Legends and band members who were fortunate enough to work with you always have a 'story'.... RIP my friend.

Many years ago before my wife became as disabled as she is today we went to Memories Theatre. We had no idea who Charlie Hodge was until we saw the show. When the show was over as we reach the back of the seats, there he was shaking hands with everyone. Up North here we never are able to talk one on one with show people unless you buy a VIP ticket. It was something that might seem small but meant a lot to us and we won't forget it. Only saw him twice in our vacations down there and he sure seem to love what he was doing...

I'll never forget, back in the late 90's pulling up to a vehicle that had become disabled after attempting to turn onto the street from a parking lot in a part of town known for crime and other troubles (Knoxville,TN). I was just getting off duty from my shift as a deputy of the Knox County,TN sheriffs department, driving an unmarked Thunderbird that was asigned to me at the time. After identifying myself to the vehicles occupant, I offered to call for a wrecker on my police radio. The driver advised that he already had contacted a wrecker, but was visibly pleased when I advised that I would stick around until the wrecker arrived. the gentleman looked familiar for some odd reason. The moment he introduced himself, I about died. Not just because I have been a fan of Elvis all my life, but also a fan of Charlie's also. His name, to me,goes right along with Elvis'.We talked until the wrecker arrive. Unfortunately, the wrecker arrived far too quickly.Man, I sure wished that I had got his autograph that day. He invited me to visit his Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge, TN but unfortunately I didn't get a chance to before his untimely passing. GOD Bless, Charlie Hodge. You will be missed more than you know.
April 15, 2011

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
March 03, 2011
I know you always wondered why people celebrated the anniversaries of someones passing. I guess the best answer to that is trying to find a way to get through the day without breaking down. Trying to relive the memories of the good times and that's what I do when thinking of you!! You were awesome Charlie and you're sorely missed!!! Love, William

I met Charlie in 1987 in Baltimore. He made a special appearance for the local Elvis Fan Club there. He had many stories to tell and he was very kind and always had that big smile. Thank you Charlie for those special memories.
February 12, 2011
Ms. Hodge, I met Charlie back in the early 1980's when he was in the Phildelphia area as special guest speaker for a event for a local radio host Ron Cade who stil has a radio show every weekend with all Elvis Music. During the two days that Charlie was up here all we did was tell jokes, Good, Bad, Dirty, or other we told them to each other . I was around 18 years old. He was such a friendly man and all he did was smile. Charlie left a special memory that will last my entire life. I still tell people to this day about him. I know it has been almost 5 years since his passing but I just found out today. He was a little part of my life but he left a memory that has lasted a life time. I still picture him walking pass me shaking my hand and giving me a wink and saying in his southern draw, I will see again son when he was leaving the event. Thank you Charle for all you have given to me and the world.

Hey Charlie you are greatly missed by me no matter what the occasion. I got to meet and visit with many of the mafia members, Sonny was there among them, and when hearing stories that I hadn't heard before your laughter rang through each time. We all could feel your presence there as well as at the tour and on the vigil. Just as we were lost in thought the song "I Will Be Home Again" rang through the loud speakers and a sudden breeze came through that broke up the heat. I know how that song was very special to you. I knew that if you were anywhere you'd be there and you were. Elvis's presence was strong on the property but so was yours. It was a great feeling and one that I miss everyday.

Love,

William Stiles

I know most people forget that you were once a soldier. We used to talk about your time in Germany quite a bit being as though we were both stationed in the same area just 30 or so years apart. Even though you went to Germany while the Korean War was raging you went where the Army sent you without question. Not only as an entertainer should you be remembered but also as a veteran. Happy Memorial Day Charlie, love, William

I remember Charlie from a visit we made to Pigeon Forge, Tennessee during 2001. We had booked to see an Elvis tribute at the local theatre and Charlie was performing in the band. He took time out to speak to us after the show and, to me, our meeting was the highlight of the evening. Charlie you will be sadly missed by all your British fans.

I had the opportunity of meeting Charlie opposite Graceland in 1982 and found him to be extremely hospitable, warm and friendly. Despite the amount of people wanting to talk to him he took the time to talk “elvis” with me and that laugh of his….recognise that anytime.
April 02, 2009
I had the great privledge of getting to know Charlie through Memories Theatre. My wife and I started attending there in February 2000. Each time Charlie would spot us, he would have to take a few minutes and catch up on what we had been up to. We were able to see him for the last time on Valentine's weekend 07. It was snowing heavily. After the show he was finishing up on autographs. He spotted me and came from around the table, gave me a hug and said "hello old friend, haven't seen you in a while". We sat and talked for about 30 minutes. He said that he hated to go, but he said had to get home to the "girls", Jen and Sadie. The snow's getting worse, and I don't want then to worry. I was truly glad I had that last opportunity. I only wish that I could have said good bye. I am blessed for having known him, and consider him a friend. You can rest assured that he's up there pounding out Boosom of Abraham on the piano with Big "E" and J.D. singing right along.
March 31, 2009
Godspeed Charlie,we all miss you down here! You and "E" will always be remembered.By the way, I own your Silver slim 1975 Zippo lighter and am taking good care of it! It still works great! Everytime I use it I think of you and "E". Too bad it can't talk, I bet it could tell some interesting stories!

March 03, 2009
But I would not have you ignorant, breathren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.

For the Lord himself shall decend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

I Thessalonians 4:13, 16-18

Thank you for all the great stories you shared with me and for all the many great moments we had hanging out and working onstage together. You were an awesome teacher and the knowledge you shared with me will always be priceless. Most of all thank you for being my friend. You are truly missed.

It took a selfless man to be that SPECIAL FRIEND to ELVIS, who was bigger than life its self. And that YOU were. Now, your soulmate, Jennifer, has taken over for you to your friends and family. You have been and always will be a GREAT MAN and Jennifer will see to that.

Charlie,
Thank you for being you & being the greatest friend Elvis could ever ask for. You were the best.
August 28, 2008
Charlie, just dropped by to leave a note of remembrance for you and tell you how much I miss you. I always took comfort in the fact that Elvis was somewhere - Graceland, Las Vegas, Hawaii, Palm Springs, having a good time with his friends, and that made me feel good. After he was gone, we all felt so lost without him. Thank God, we had you, the loyal friend to Elvis. You didn't mind spending time with his fans, and you made those times with Elvis come alive again through your memories.

I had the good fortune to meet you in Memphis one year when you came to speak at the memorial service. You came back to Graceland and attended the Candlelight Vigil, and that's where I met you. It was about 2:00 a.m., the Elvis music was playing throughout the grounds and a long line was still waiting to go past the grave. I was sitting out in front of the mansion in the street with my sister, when you came by. You were crying and I looked up and recognized you. I asked if I could help you, and you said nothing could bring him back. You told me it was your first trip back to Memphis since you had left, and it was very hard for you to be there without Elvis. I just happened to be a fan who was in the right place at the right time to console you for once. I always considered myself very lucky to have spent time with you during a very sad moment for you with your return to Memphis and seeing Graceland that night. You shared some stories about Elvis with me and my sister, and then you were gone into the night. I'll always remember that night and the things that you shared with us, even though we were strangers. Sometimes strangers are easier to talk to when you're lonely.

You were a very kind, generous man, and I totally understood why Elvis kept you near as a very close friend. You were extremely loyal to Elvis, and that's something any person would want in a friend. My prayer for you, Charlie, is that when you crossed that threshold into eternity, your good friend, Elvis, was there to meet you and welcome you home. It gives me great peace to think of the two of you together laughing and sharing jokes. Charlie, thanks for all you did for Elvis, and thanks for all the memories that Elvis fans carry with them everywhere of you as his friend. Rest well, my friend . . . .
August 26, 2008
I am 59, & have been an Elvis fan since I was 10. Watching & listening to Elvis & Charlie on TV makes me feel like I knew them, I love them & thank them for the joy they have given me. About 12 yrs ago I became disabled & have Peripheral Neuropathy & walk with a cane but they always give me inspiration to go on..
I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Hodge at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge with Lou Vuto, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met, plus, to meet someone who worked that close with Elvis, was an honor for me and wished I could have talked longer with him. but so many people were waiting to talk with Charlie.I did get a scarf from Lou & got Lou & Charlie both to sign it. I will treasure that forever...luv ya & miss you, Charlie.......(Wish I could of met Elvis)
I know Elvis & JD was standing on those stairs in Heaven welcoming Charlie with open arms and I can see them all singing together as well as Charlie giving Elvis his water and scarves. He will be greatly missed. ..He was awesomeeeeeeeeeee.
Rest In Peace my friend ..Luv ya dearly...

This is just to say thanks for being there for ELVIS and you were a great friend to the King and the ELVIS fans of SCOTLAND remember you. Love the web site
August 11, 2008
It doesn't take Elvis Week or a special event to remember you. Not a day goes by that a memory of you doesn't cross my mind. The time we spend on your boat brings back the thoughts of how you loved being on the water. We'll always remember you in Florida and you'll always have a home there. Jenn had said you'd have loved to have worked down there and being near the ocean. There's no doubt in my mind you'll definitely be there in spirit. Thank you for all the great memories and all the things you have shared with me. Most of all thank you for your friendship. You are awesome!!
August 10, 2008

I hope to see the show at Memories Theater at Pigeon Forge in the near future. I wanted to be there during Elvis Week, but I had to have eyelid surgery to remove a skin cancer from my right eyelids. Everything is going well. Miss you. Take Care.

August 10, 2008
Charlie will always be in our hearts. My sister and I were at Memories the first night that Charlie came there. I think I have the first picture that was taken of Charlie at Memories. We were jokeing with him outside the theatre before the show and started taking pictures.

He talked with us untill show time, about where we lived in Alabama and friends of ours he knew in Decatur Alabama.
After the show the first night we extended our stay in Pigeon Forge for a week. We managed to see every show that week at Memories. We had so much fun after the shows talking and taking pictures with Charlie,Eddie and the band.

Through the years we did the same with Charlie Pete, Lou,and the band members.
Charlie was like a family member to us. He never failed to make our vist a happy time.

I asked him often to make a video.I was the first to buy it when he made it. When I told him I liked his book because he had nothing bad to say about Elvis. He used that line when promoting his book.
He added so much to the shows even with Elvis.
I was so sad when we missed Charlies funeral (I did not here about his death in time to atten. He made a lot of people laugh and gave them many happy memories. He was one of the rare people that could make a person forget there troubles. I will always remember you Charlie Hodge. Those hundrends of photo,s that were taken and those Memories will help.

May god bless your family and help them in this time of loss.
I know how they are feeling. (I just lost my husband in May and a son in July)I am so happy you had your wife to be with you in your time of need Charlie.
August 10, 2008
It's that time of year again. It always was so important to Charlie. He would bring his wardrobe to me to work on so he could look nice when he went to Memphis for Elvis week. I sure miss my good friend and his visits to our costume shop.
Thanks for the memories Charlie.
August 09, 2008
Charlie....it's another Elvis week but it doesn't have to be for us to think about you. Every nite, Lou does a song which he did with you on stage and I keep wanting you to walk back out on stage...Last nite it was "Don't Cry Daddy" ...well, maybe Daddy didn't..but I did. Miss you my friend.
Dee

It is July 4th and Charlie and Elvis are celebrating their freedom in Heaven and maybe doing a little American Trilogy on this patriotic day! Charlie and Elvis were a very underated but awesome friendship in a world that was cruel in the end to Elvis. Charlie found Jennifer to make him happy finally and I know Elvis was glad of it........
July 03, 2008
I am so sorry about Charlie's death, he was a dear friend to Elvis, actually he was always so loyal to his friend, now they are both together with the blessing of almighty God, now you can be together forever Charlie.

God Bless You Charlie!.
June 27, 2008
Can I just say I never knew Charlie but when I had my bad moments in life I would put on my Elvis documentries and laugh so much always listening to Charlie . I think Elvis and Charlie are somewhere doing the fooling around again. And you know what I feel so happy about that. God Bless Charlie
June 23, 2008
I knew Charlie way back when. I am Jake Hess's niece. Judy (Clicker). I love you Charlie, see you on the other side. Shooter is up there with you now too. We'll all be there soon

June 20, 2008
Bless you Charlie, for being the great friend that you were and are to Elvis and for being the great person that you were, are and always will be...
June 18, 2008
Since I totally missed the 2nd anniversary of Charlie's passing, I did hear his conversation with GK on Sirius Elvis the other day and was reminded that Charlie was absent in body but present in spirit. Those interviews with GK are a treasure. My life has been changed by the illness and passing of my Mother on May 17th. I wanted her to do many things with me, like going to Memories Theater, but the Lord had other plans for her at age 92. If only she could speak to me or let me know that she is in heaven and Elvis and Charlie were there with her. I asked her to tell them I loved them when she crossed over. I believe there is a spiritual connection with those who have gone on and hopefully all of them will let us know they are happy to be a free spirit. Take Care.
June 17, 2008
Jennifer and all of Charlie's family and friends. I am so sad to have just now find that Charlie has passed away. Happy to know he and Elvis is entertaining the Lord together but sad to know one of Elvis's closest friends and a part of our history are gone. Every Elvis fan knows the loyalty Charlie possed, with all the fake we always believed in Charlie and Joe E.

God Bless You Charlie and Thanks For The Memories
May 20, 2008
Although it's over two years later, I want to express my sympathy to Charlie's family. I've just learned of his death. He was a very talented person and I believe one of the few true friends of Elvis. God bless--
May 19, 2008
To Jennifer & family. My love and prayers are with you. I just now found out that Charlie had passed away 2 years ago or more. I never met him but saw him in person once with Elvis and I know that he was a good man and a true friend not just to Elvis but to everyone. It is rare to find that kind of friend. I know that they say time heals everything but I know you are still missing and loving your soul mate. My prayers are with you. Rest in peace Charlie. You are missed. With Love Carolyn Mittag
April 24, 2008
I agree Janet. The wonderful thing about having known Charlie is that the memories are his gift to us all. Sometimes we sit and laugh when we remember a certain thing he said or did and it brightens our day. I know Jennifer misses him but I hope she laughs as well.
April 23, 2008
There isn't a day that goes by that we don't think of our buddy Charlie. Last week his friend Patty came to the house and we talked about what a wonderful man he was. We will never forget how he used to come to the house early in the morning and tell us that it's time to get up and make some coffee. He always had a big smile on his face when he and Kenny talked about show business and he would always laugh at me early in the morning. So much for the show girl image!!!
Charlies memory is close to our hearts, he was one in a million, a wonderful friend and we truly miss him.
Many hugs to you Jennifer,
April 21, 2008

March 05, 2008
my love, miss you more and more everyday. time will never heal my heart but i promise you i will see you again someday.
love you bunches and bunches.
March 04, 2008
Only two years yesterday you left this earth, I feel sure not wanting to leave Jennifer behind to grieve. But Charlie Hodge, you left your footprints as a comic talent in your OWN right, and you proved to Elvis and the world that true friendship can exist before and beyond death. No one who was around Elvis will ever hold a candle to you Charlie, and no one else quite expected so little in return. The second anniversary of your death only finds more validation of loyalty and your immortal evidence of the true definition of friendship. When I think about it, is surely appropriate that JD and
Charlie are the ones with Elvis now.
March 04, 2008
rest in peace, charlie.

Jennifer, just to let you know I am thinking about Charlie and saying a prayer for him.
He is very much missed, not by Elvis fans but by anybody that knew him. John Fawcett, Kenpo Karate, United Kingdom.
December 16, 2007
Jennifer, I want you to know that we all think of you often. We know that you still miss Charlie and always will. You are a strong lady but losing your soul mate is tragic. You are in my prayers with Charlie as those left behind alway suffer the most. Charlie is at peace but you must go on here until you can be together again. Stay strong and keep TCC!
December 15, 2007
Happy Birthday Charlie! I may be a little late but I think of you often and I wanted you to know that I live closer to your roots. I grew up in south Alabama in humble beginnings and always felt I knew what you and Elvis'childhood must have been like. When I met your parents, we had a common thread. I think you had that same thing with Elvis and that is what made you both so special. Wish you were still with us. I'm still looking forward to that trip to Memories and seeing all the shows and special tributes to you. My Uncle, Hollis Locke, passed away on the 13th of December. He was a second cousin to Elvis on his Mother's side. I hope they are finally meeting each other in heaven. All the best to Jennifer and the gang at Memories.
December 15, 2007
Happy Birthday Charlie...we dedicated last nite's show to you because you are never gone from Memories...you are always with us...Rest well, my friend...... Dee Gallon and the gang at Memories
December 15, 2007
Happy Birthday to Charlie and Jennifer. It was a true honor to have worked with you onstage and to have gotten to know you as a friend. Everytime we get out on your boat Jennifer and all of us that come out there swap some of the best stories about you. Your definitely not forgotten especially by those of us that loved you most for who you were, the talent you had from the womb, the friendship you gave us, and for giving us a true idea of what a true, genuine and loyal friend should be as you were to Elvis for all those 17 years. You still are a "Natural Born World Shaker!!"

Love,

William Stiles

Thinking of you Charlie.

Happy Birthday Charlie. I know you are celebrating with Elvis again this year. You always told me that I was only the second Capricorn you ever got along with and then laughed that wonderful contagious laugh of yours! I told you that Sagittarius was not supposed to be compatible with Capricorn! I only wish that all of the fans could have known how incredibly talented you were in your own right. You had such a beautiful voice and the quickest wit I have ever known! You are still, and always will be, missed my friend.
November 30, 2007
I met Charlie in the mid to late 90s at Memories, and he was one of the nicest people I have ever met, plus, to meet someone who worked that close with Elvis, was an honor for me. I know that he is with Elvis and J.D. in Heaven and I can see Elvis singing with J.D. singing bass as only he could do, and Charlie is still singing with Elvis , aswell as giving Elvis his water and scarves. He will be greatly missed.
November 11, 2007
Charlie we probably never thanked you for your military service with Elvis and the Army. The Army was the best thing that ever happened to Elvis. He grew up during those years and fate had you meet him there when he really needed a friend like you. Thanks for your service to our country. We miss you both and love you both so very much.
November 11, 2007
It's been almost 2 years and it's hard to believe you won't be coming to the lobby before the show to visit, offer your suggestions and just be my friend. How we miss you Charlie and what a 'hole' you have left in our show. When you walked into Memories 16 years ago and said..."I need a family"...I hope we never let you down. We talk about you every nite on stage, carry your book and DVD and proudly display your guitar, jumpsuits and memorabelia. You are always with us. Dee Gallon/Memories Theatre
November 11, 2007
Jennifer and Family. I've written before, but I want you to know that I think and pray for all of you THROUGH Charlie. I'M SURE HE IS WATCHING OVER YOU.
November 10, 2007
I had the pleasure of meeting Charlie Hodge at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge with Lou Vuto, and wished I could have talked longer with him. So many people were waiting for the same chance to speak with Charlie. You are greatly missed and loved by all who have seen you perform with Elvis and Lou Vuto at Memories.
October 28, 2007
I am so lost for words, I guess I'm a little behind in my news, I would like to say to the Hodge family, "from many video's & pictures that I have seen of Charlie, that he was a devoted person to Elvis, Charlie you will be sadly missed, I had admired you for being the person that you became, I wasn't gonna mention Elvis because this is about you, it's your turn for us to say that "WE LOVE YOU" not only did Elvis have fans, so did you. RIH (rest in harmony)

I always wondered whose sweet face that was on the dear man who looked so loyal to Elvis in the videos. I wish I had been as into Elvis as I am today when Charlie was alive so I could have met him, talked to him, gone to his shows, and even his funeral last year. I will visit his grave soon on my next trip to Decatur. I have so much respect for him--one of the few who never betrayed his friendship to Elvis, not even beyond death. "Greater love......"
I have an image that when CHARLIE ENTERED HEAVEN, ELVIS was there waiting for HIM with a glass of WATER and a SCARF. Thank you Charlie and God bless Jennifer and family. Sincerely,
October 10, 2007
Charlie Hodge was a dear sweet man to everybody thar knew him. I sure do love taking to his wife about him. And through her Charlie's memories are never forgotten.

Charlie was one of a kind every one loved him.
September 20, 2007
It's hard to believe how much time has passed since you have left us.
My Joe (bass player for James "Elvis" Clark and The Jail House Rocker Band)Has been gone since 12/11/05 and I still miss him. One of Joe's (Smokin'Joe as they called him) favorite Elvis songs he use to play was "Always On My Mind". It still brings tears to my eyes when I hear it.
The pain does ease but it is still there. The support of family & friends really helps.
So Charlie, say hi to Elvis & Joe for me.

Charlie was a dear, dear friend to me and was always there each time I needed him. He made me laugh. He shared precious memories with me, some funny and some not so funny. He taught several of us to "Only Believe." He called me "The Oasis of Graceland". For that, I thank him but most of all, I thank him for being my friend. Thank you, Charlie. I love you and I miss you.
Your friend always,
Patsy Andersen

On the night of August 15th, 2007, as I walked up the driveway to meditation garden at Graceland to pay my respects to Elvis, I said a little remembrance prayer for Charlie Hodge. I knew that the 30th Anniversary Concert would not be the same without Charlie. He was part of the Elvis "Aura" and he was a lucky man to have been friends with Elvis. My best wishes to his family always.

Had the great pleasure to meet Charlie in spring 2003, on a trip he had to Norway to greet his Norwegian fans.
This was on a cruise boat to Danmark.
Charlie was in great shape and sang also on stage a few songs.
Later he signed his book a couple of hundred times.
I am glad I also got a picture of me and him.
He stands alone of beeing one of the few true friends Elvis had.
Rest in peace dear Charlie.
You will be missed, along with the King!

Please read this tribute to Charlie Hodge from Elaine Balesteri.
I am saddened at the passing of Charlie. I wish to send my condolences to the family. I know the pain you are feeling as I just lost my husband (age 50) on December 11, 2005. He was a bass guitarist for an Elvis Tribute band, so this one really hits home. The love and support of family and friends will help you get through this difficult and sad time of your life. My prayers go out to you and the family.

God Bless You,

Joe was my first husband and when he got the Gig for this Elvis band,it made his life. For his wife, Elaine, they went to Graceland. We lost Joe in 2005, and his children and I will miss him eternally. Elaine is suffering because she lost the love of her life as I did for this loss. He gave the best tribute as bass player to this band. We hold all in our prayers. Thank you.

Charlie

I miss you Charlie. I hope you and Elvis are jamming again.

When you love someone, you think that he or she is indestructible. And when that someone eventually dies, you feel helpless and lost. Elvis and Charlie were worshiped by so many people in the world and in a sense, they still live. They always will...Liana
April 30, 2007
You know, that we all do not live for our own joy. That would be pretty senseless. And it's not so very difficult to be there for others and to enlighten their lives. This gives life sense and this makes God happy. Charlie and Elvis fulfilled this sense in a wonderful way. And still do it today. God is looking for those happymakers, because the heavenly choir needs each of their voices. We all, who are still living, are invited too. And now it's our exercise, to let ring the heavenly sound in fellow-man's soul as Charlie and Elvis had enlightened us. It's a wonderful life wearing such wonderful human beings in the heart.

Big hug to you, Jennifer
April 29, 2007
What a sad loss! Let's hope Elvis, Charlie and J D are really rockin' on up there.
April 26, 2007
My prayers go to you Jennifer for your loss, but what I understand you made Charlie's last years happy. At least we know that he is no longer suffering from the pain, he is in good health now, rockin-N-rollin with Elvis. Heaven has beautiful music going on now...

Charlie I visited your gravesite a couple of times and felt your spirit sweep across my shoulders. I had a neighbor's dog visit me near where you rest. I'm sure you were smiling down from heaven. I also visited your parents gravesite. I last saw them at an Elvis concert in Mobile AL in Sep 1970. The place where you rest is so different than the lifestyle you shared with Elvis. I hope you have found peace. Sleep well my friend! All the best to Jennifer and the extended family at Memories Theater. Take Care. Floree, Albuquerque NM
March 03, 2007

Hello everyone,

I met Charlie in April 2003 or 2004, honestly I am not sure which year. He was playing in Gatlinburg with a great inpersonator. I was a younger fan but I really enjoyed the show. This man was a warm loving, really nice person. After I bought his movie and book. It was great meeting him.

I met Charlie only once at a show in Pigeon Forge. I felt as if I had known him for years. I saw seven Elvis concerts and Charlie was right there the closest one to him on stage at every concert. Charlie was always my favorite of the whole Elvis group. Charlie always had class. I am so giad that he found love after Elvis was gone. I know he had a bad time for awhile, but what a life he must have lived. We miss you Charlie. It was been an honor to have had you in our lives.

I have been a Elvis fan since I was a very young girl. Getting to meet Charlie at Memories a few years ago, was a dream come true. He was the sweetest person, and my husband and I so enjoyed talking with him about his life and his time with Elvis. We will surely miss him as I know you will. I found comfort in knowing he is in a better place and again with his dearest friend Elvis. We recently lost my father in law, so know that our prayers and thoughts are with you as you deal with the loss every day.
August 27, 2006
So sad about the passing of Charlie Hodge. What a great person. I know that as devoted to Elvis as he was, Elvis was also devoted to Charlie. You could just see it when they were together on stage.

Hi Jennifer,
I have spent allot of time thinking about you and Charlie this week. Usually this was a very busy week for the two of you in the past few years. You are in my thoughts all the time. Thank you for being there for Charlie, your relationship brightened his life. After he met you he was happy to be alive again. When he came to the shop the conversation was always about you and your trips to Gatlinburg with your family etc. We were all so happy to see him smile again. He was a very happy man when he died and you did that.
Hugs,
Janet Tegels

Elvis is like the stars, you may not always see them, but you know they are there....Charlie you are among those stars now, rest in peace, you are loved by many, and respected by all...........
August 17, 2006
yeah charlie you are missed and just like elvis you two made the show, and lets not forget the other great one, j.d. sumner, without that deep backing and elvis always wanted to try to out do j,d, but almost, but never could outdo the man that has been doing that long before elvis, we will miss them all and elvis touched my life and helped me thru alot of bad times , just to listen to him and watch him and charlie on stage doing what they were here to do, they did it and with the help of god they made it , and they did do it their way, thanks charlie you will be missed, just as much as elvis and j.d. now your still singing, and it will never end now, we all at least i do, miss you and the best of the best, the rest is up to who is left to keep the job going, and carry on the fight, take care of business, and that they are, thanks to all the elvis group that are still doing what these three loved most, and carry on with the music, keep the music going, that is what they would want you all to do, i can still hear them singing just open my ears and i can hear that gental and sometimes lauging that elvis could not control, mostly if charlie made a joke and it hit elvis just right he knew how to get him back, and he did but they always had fun even off stage , they just looked like they fit in together and so with all the group, thanks to kathy for the work she has and is doing and all the band and the backup singers for keeping elvis and charlie still on statge live
August 16, 2006
As a long-time fan of Elvis, I'd gone to the Elvis web-site to post a message on the "virtual wall" as we remember the 29th anniversary of his passing. While perusing the posts, I saw one that said something about Elvis and Charlie being together again, so I set did a search and only then learned about Charlie's passing. I love to watch my Elvis concert videos and dvds, and in each one we always see Charlie's smiling face, offering Elvis his faithful friendship and support. Sorry to hear about his passing, but I'm glad that he's a part of the Elvis fan family, and through the Elvis media, he'll always be remembered, too. They'll both be missed, and always remembered! May God bless and comfort Charlie's family and friends who feel his loss most deeply.
August 16, 2006
Well, here it is AUG. 16 and the first one without Charlie's smiling face and wonderful memories. Like Elvis, Charlie left us to soon. You are missed old friend!
August 16, 2006
I have only just heard of Charlie's passing. What a sad loss and our sympathy goes to his family from Elvis fans here in Scotland.

Dear Jennifer,
Vanessa and I are so sorry for you concerning Charlie's death. He was such a cool person to know! I will always appreciate his kindness towards Vanessa! Jennifer, Charlie was such a lucky person to have you to be around the last years of his life. He lived a life that most people will only dream.

I often think of Charlie, my friend. Especially at this time of year. August was hard for Charlie because it brought back bad memories for him. When Elvis died Charlie was devistated, he had lost his best friend. Plus his way of living!!! There aren't too many people that can have a best friend like Charlie was to Elvis. Charlie remained devoted to Elvis until the day he died.
Charlie was nice man and a kind man. Always saw the nice side of people. He would always try to make people laugh, it was his passion. But sometimes he would tell the same joke over and over again. Napples, Nanners, Noranges. But, I always laughed anyway. I was always happy that he took the time to tell me that joke and spend time with me.
We miss him so much!!
August 08, 2006
Hi Charlie...It's August again and someone said to me at the theatre tonite.."It's almost Elvis week - I'll be you'll miss Charlie won't you"....I was reminded of something that happened many years ago at Memories...It was August ...you and I were standing at the back of the theatre after our special Elvis show and a lady walked up to you and said.."Charlie why aren't you in Memphis this time of year remembering Elvis"...I saw tears well up in your eyes and you said..."Mam, I don't need to be in Memphis to remember my friend Elvis, I remember him with every day I live"..she walked away and you and I hugged each other and wiped our eyes. Well, it doesn't have to be 'August' to remember you
my friend.....we remember you every day...God keep you Charlie..
August 08, 2006
Charlie, here it is; another year for Elvis week, only this year will be different. This year, your smiling face won't be at Graceland or Memphis. We will not only remember Elvis at this time, but you, his dear, sweet friend as well. You are sadly missed. Theresa

I know Charlie is up in Heaven with all his buddies from years back, Elvis, J.D., Donnie, just to name a few. His voice literally flowed with Elvis's and his smile and laughter will stay in our hearts forever! We won't be sad that he's gone from us physically, we can be happy to know he's our guardian angel on our shoulders until we meet him again! Thanks for the memories Charlie! Karen Wells
July 15, 2006
A wonderful man. I saw him at memories theatre in Pidgeon Forge last year. Bought his book and had him sign it. Going there again on the 29th of July. Today I just learned of his passing and am deeply saddened. But a wonderful voice was added to heaven to sing with the choir.
July 12, 2006
We just learned of Charlie's glorious entrance to Heaven! What a rejoicing there must have been. Although the hearts of those who love him may continue to ache for a time, Charlie is waiting with others to rejoice once again when we join him! Thoughts & prayers for those closest to him. It was an honor to have met him! God bless you all!!!

June 27, 2006
My name is Shirley Ries and I was lucky to see Elvis & Charlie in concert in 1976. I saved my ticket stubs and brought them with me to Memories for Charlie to sign. He was so excited that I still had those stubs all this time. He showed them to (Buddy Holly) and he couldn't believe the price from back then. That is my foundest memory of Charlie. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed!!
June 27, 2006
I just tonight learned of Charlie's passing. I am so very sorry. He was a wonderful entertainer. He wanted so to keep Elvis's memory alive, he did that. It will not be the same going back to Memories.

June 22, 2006
Dear Charlie, My son graduated from high school recently. He'll be heading off to the army in July and may be headed for Fort Hood, TX like Elvis. He'll be a calvary scout. Can't believe you're gone. That is why for vacation, we've decided to go somewhere different, because it wouldn't feel right to go back to Memories and not see your smiling face there. As far as I'm concerned, you've never really left us. Just like Elvis, you've left an impression on everyone's heart.
May you rest in peace. Your #1 fan, Theresa
June 21, 2006
It's now been 3-1/2 months since we lost our friend, Charlie and he's with us at Memories - still...every day we are reminded how much we miss him. June 14, 2006
My name is Elvisa, my family and I were lucky enough to meet Charlie 20 years ago.
Charlie had come to visit Norwich (England) to talk about Elvis at an Elvis fan club that my mum and dad belonged to. He ended up staying in our home for eleven very memorable months. I was aged 5 and my sister Tammy 10. He was such a wonderful person who lit the room when he entered. When I was a child I was not one for going to bed like a good girl. Or sleeping very well. Charlie would put me to bed shut the door and sit on the other side singing goodnight Elvisa goodnight. Charlie also inspired my dad to write a rock musicale called Forever Elvis the rock musicale about Elvis and his life which toured for five years and even went to Moscow. Charlie narrated and handed out scalfs in a few shows which he loved to do for Elvis. He also wrote a book of which I was given a mention towards the end. Called Elvis n me. My Family and I have many stories thanks to Charlie I could go on forever. we would loved to have seen him now that we are grown up with our own families. Thank you for the Joy you gave to our hearts Charlie. I hope your Jammin’ away again now. Xx Pam, Tammy And Elvisa (White)
June 12, 2006

June 12, 2006
I was lucky enough to meet Charlie a few years ago at Elvis Expo in Las Vegas; what an honor that was. I will always remember him for taking care of the man that I consider to be the greatest entertainer ever to live and for being a good entertainer and musician in his own right.
June 12, 2006
It was such a great pleasure to see Charlie in Pigeon Forge, what a great entertainer he was and such a nice person who took the time to spend a few minutes with my Grandaughter Brittany who at that time was such a huge Elvis Fan, what a thrill it was for her to talk to Charlie. We will miss him but we will at least hear and see them all singing in Heaven, God Bless Them ALL
June 11, 2006
I saw Charlie and Elvis in concert in Dayton, Ohio in 1972, '74, and '76. They were a great team! Charlie was always there for Elvis and I know they are together again. Someday we will all get together as true friends should, thanking God for keeping us together.Prayers of Peace & Encouragement are sent to Jennifer and all who knew "Charlie" the best.
June 07, 2006
I recently learned about Charlie's passing and it saddened me. One of the reasons I visit Memories was to see him. What a wonderful human being and a best friend anyone could have. I got to see and meet him for the first time in 1998 and respected him so much. I respect that he always spoke of Elvis so positive. I have been an Elvis fan since I can remember and meeting him was such an honor. He was so friendly and real. May God bless him and his family. I went to Memories this past Memorial Day to see him again and learned during the show and I cried. I will forever remember him and his wonderful stories of Elvis!
June 07, 2006
My wife and I met Charlie at Memories Theatre about eight years ago; I felt like I had known him for years after just a few minutes of conversation. It was wonderful being able to know someone who was so close to Elvis. It's amazing how one special person can touch the lives of so many! God bless you Charlie!
June 06, 2006
For a great friend, who told me great stories and gave me advice in this business. I was very fortunate to know Charlie (or "Cholly" as Elvis would say)and be able to call him my friend!! He was a great friend to everybody and never had a harsh word to say about anybody. I know him and Elvis are singing together again with JD Sumner singing bass with them. Until we meet again...We will miss you "Cholly"!!!
June 03, 2006
Goodbye Charlie, Thanks for the stories!
June 02, 2006
We first met Charlie at an Elvis fan get-together in Indianapolis in
1978. He asked me if I was an actress because my name tag included the letters "S.E.G." (It
stood for "Strictly Elvis Generation" and he thought it was for "Screen Extras Guild.") Charlie was very nice to all of us and we appreciated the way he did things for and with Elvis. He will be missed.
May 30, 2006
Jennifer, may God give you peace just knowing where Charlie is .My most memory of Charlie was my husband and i was talking about going fishing he ask us to come and go with him but we never made it but i always will keep this at heart Charlie loved to fish.

May 28, 2006
My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
May 28, 2006
I am so pleased to see a guest book for all our thoughts about charlie. What a lovley man he was I met him for the first time in 1982 my first time to graceland. It meant so much to me to meet someone so close to elvis, a truer friend no one could have than charlie was to elvis. He never took delight in telling everyone of elvis's problems like some do, but was a true and loyal friend, and a lovley person and fantastic to elvis's fans. I was meant to see Charlie at Stoke on Trent England at a fanclub event but could not go, I thought I may get a chance to see him again in 2007, it was not to be. My very deepest sympathy to his family. As far as us fans, well I guess the only concellation is Elvis and Charlie are together again. God Bless Charlie We Miss you so.
May 27, 2006
I enjoyed your book very much and seeing you at memories with Lou.
May 23, 2006

May 21, 2006
I was amused at Janet Teagle's post since we know her well and her love for Charlie....Of course, having worked with Charlie for almost 15 years at Memories, we are fully aware of his ability to make us laugh....he did it on a daily basis. My friend, Charlie, you have no idea what a void you left in my theatre....you helped me so much with your knowledge of show business and your friendship to me when I needed it most. Rest in pease - love you/Dee Gallon, Memories Theatre
May 19, 2006
Hey Charlie,
Wait, you forgot your pants!!! I'll bet that statement sounds a bit strange? I was Charlie's tailor and he forgot his pants all the time because he was so busy telling jokes to the girls that work here at the shop. When he came to the shop all worked stopped so we could enjoy his visit. When he left the shop he would always say, gotta go, but I'll be back. The last time he came to the shop he didn't forget his pants, two weeks later he was buried in them.
Over the years he became a very good friend to my husband, son, the girls at the shop and me. He always made sure he left us laughing. What a huge heart for such a little guy. He really liked that fact that I was 1/8" shorter then he was because HE finally had someone to tease. The day he died we were overcome with grief, I had tears in my eyes for days. But then Jenifer reminded me Charlie wouldn't like it if he knew we were sad. So now the tears have turned into a smile. Except when I remember the undertaker joke!!!!
The world was blessed the day Charlie was born.
Sure hope the Baptist department in heaven lets this Episcopalian tailor back stage after the concert when and if they let me through the golden gates. But who knows, if I go the other direction I'll probebly have to sit in the nosebleed section with the rest of the sinners.
Lots of love to Jennifer, her family and Charlies family and friends. What wonderful memories he left us with.
May 19, 2006
Goodbye Charlie and God Bless. You were always my favourite of the "mafia". Its wonderful to see all the famous names connected to you and Elvis on this guest book. You were much loved by everyone. Charlie, you are very special to us and we will miss all the great times we had with you. From meeting your mom at your home in Decatur to your visits in our home in Wisconsin so many times. Thank you for one very special time 22 years ago when you came to our Catholic church to be godfather for our son Aaron Elvis. And all the precious time you gave our other children, Tammy and Bobby. We cannot express enough how much we will miss you. There is now a void in our lives without you Charlie. Love you always. God Bless You. Bob, Linda, Tammy, Bobby, Aaron Barnett
May 01, 2006
It is so very warm and comforting to see all the people that loved Charlie. Charlie was my godfather and Charlie, what a wonderful godfather you were to me. I remember a couple of real special things Charlie wrote to me and said to me often. He said...to Aaron Elvis Barnett, my godson, be a good and loving man. Love Charlie Hodge. And the other thing was, Aaron I can't wait to see your son so I can tell him about you. I am now 22 years old and remember these words like yesterday. Charlie as you know I've tried to be my best as a good and loving man, and also Charlie you know I am still single so I do not have a son yet...but when that day comes instead of you telling him about me, I will tell him about you. What a loving kind person you were and all the joy you brought so many. Charlie, thank you from my whole heart for all the memories you have given me. Thank you for all the times you came to Wisconsin to visit me, I will treasure those memories. My dear godfather Charlie Hodge, I will always miss you and may God Bess You. Thank you for being my godfather. Love, your godson Aaron Elvis Barnett

Hello Mrs. Jennifer Hodge.
I would like to share my deepest condolences on the passing of your husband and my friend Mr.Charlie Hodge. I remember Mr. Hodge as a very kind and gentle man and a real pleasure to work with.

I would like to share with you how and when I met Charlie. I had the pleasures of meeting Charlie in 1992, while Charlie was on tour here in Canada with Mr. Gary Wayne Bridges and their unforgetable performance "For The Love Of Elvis." I remember Selvis, William Morrice and myself were preparing a ETA tour of our own. A Mutual friend of ours, Mr. John Domonkos from World Concerts International was handling Mr. Charlie Hodge and Gary Wayne Bridges. John invited us to come to the Convention Centre in Toronto, Canada, to meet and greet Mr. Hodge. I remember that moment like it was yesterday and find myself talking about those days with my friends all the time. I had the pleasure of handling all the promotions for Charlie and Gary in setting up everything from Newspaper Interviews to Radio and Television appearances. Knowing Charlie Hodge, the man and the soul that he was, I know he has been introduced into Heaven by Al Davorne and Charlie is now reunited with Elvis and Jd. Summner and together they now serenade in the presence of god. No longer will they leave the Building.

Thank You Charlie for the Memories. I'm going to miss you. May God bless you. Your friend always Pat Di Simine (aka) Elvis Little.
April 26, 2006
Charlie, I Always knew You were Elvis's BEST FRIEND. I could ALWAYS See that in Elvis's eyes. Thank you, Thank you very much.... I miss and love you both. A heartbroken friend. Dina

I will never forget the fun we all had on and off the set of "Paradise Hawaiian Style". Your laugh, the love that shone in your eyes for Elvis when you looked at him. Thank you for being you. I thank God for letting me be part of those wonderful days.

I am truly sorry from the bottom of my heart for the loss of such a wonderful person. My husband and I had the great pleasure of meeting Charlie in October of 2005 at the Memories Theatre in Pigeon Forge,TN. We purchased his book and I stood in line to meet him and get his autograph. I told him how I became the hugest "Elvis" fan since my visit to Graceland that summer. We shared an awesome conversation with him. We waited that night until most of the guests had left and my husband made a picture of me with Charlie that I have tucked securely inside the book that he wrote. Our encounter was very interesting and unique. We asked him several questions concerning Elvis and he answered then wholeheartedly. It was very obvious the love that he felt for Elvis and how much he thought of him. I just wanted to take the time to sign this guest book because I feel so honored to have gotten the chance to meet Charlie, get his autograph, speak with him, and have my picture taken with him!!! Again, my prayers go out to the family and as we all know.....he's in heaven with his best buddy now.....Elvis. Sincerely, Mandy A.

I was so sorry to hear about Charlie{s death. I live in Argentina and I have been an Elvis fan since 1956. I{m sure that all Elvis fans around the world feel sad, but at the same time we believe that Elvis and Charlie are together again, singing, laughing and playing guitar.
April 17, 2006
Am saddened to hear of the passing of Charlie. After hearing his name and seeing his face for so many years, he had become a positive staple in my life.
Charlie, may the good Lord continue to bless you and I offer to you - a sincere "Thank You".
As Elvis and Lawrence (Larry Geller) often said, "Angels fly - because they take themselves so lightly". God Bless All... Rob

April 09, 2006
Jennifer, We were both so blessed to know Charlie on a personal level. His outlook on life was so amazing and he had a sense of humor that you see in few people. He allways had such a warm smile and made you feel welcome. Even though he lived a life few of us will ever live, he was down to earth. I do know this SIR CHARLES left this earth on his own terms and if we are lucky we will meet up with him one day. Lots of Love, Jennifer Mike and Debbie and of course BUTCHIE
April 09, 2006

April 09, 2006
I regret that I never met Charlie but I was fortunate enough to see him twice. He was at the charity concert for Kim Davis in Tunica. He was wonderful and so funny. Also I was lucky enough to see him with Elvis in concert once. I've always admired him because he was probably the closest friend Elvis Presley ever had.I was so impressed with the video he made yrs.back about his life in the Elvis world. He was very dedicated and protective of his friend Elvis Presley. He had tears in hs eyes throughout the video and it was easy to tell how genuine their friendship was.The world has lost another wonderful man but heaven has gained another great musician to play and sing again with his friend.
April 09, 2006
Goodbye Charlie you will be missed by so many people who have known you and also who admired your work with Elvis and the T.C.B band, I had the pleasure of meeting you when I came to America and Pigeon Forge in 2004 and enjoyed the show so much with William Stiles and yourself.
God Bless you.
Carole Jones, Southport, England.

To the family of Charlie Hodge,
In the past 2 month's I have read

I thought when Elvis died there was
a deep concern throughout the world, but I tell you Charlie was just as important as the king was and still is.Charlie was the grand master of guitar.I don't think there will ever be another person with talent that charlie had and now
he is with Elvis in that great mansion in that better land and he will never be forgotten. Anyone person who is willing may email me.

March 24, 2006
The first time I spoke with Charlie, I was feeling down about Elvis and other things. He sang to me, cracked jokes, and comforted me over the phone for nearly an hour. Here he was, Elvis' best friend, comforting me, someone who never even had a chance to meet the man. That's how I'll always remember Charlie. He graciously invited me to his home in Decatur in 1991, and I'll never forget his laughter and playing the organ and singing until 7:30 the next morning. He was such an open and loving person, who stood by his friends, even through the rough times. His friendship will always be sacred to me. My deepest sympathy goes out to his sister, whom he always spoke about, and to Jennifer, whom I've never but, but I know she's special. I miss you Charlie, my friend, my inspiration, and my teacher. Thank you for the difference you made in my life.
March 24, 2006
Charlie you will be truly missed by millions of people. Since you have to be gone I am so glad you are with Elvis. You two can sing again together.
March 23, 2006

So soon I'll see you two, and again we'll share that laugh... Adios till then
March 23, 2006

What a wonderful blessing to have known such a great man. My life has been so enriched by Charlie. We worked together for almost nine years giving a salute to his friend Elvis. Charlie loved Elvis and it showed everyday. Today I salute my dear friend Charlie. I miss him so much already. He taught me so much and I'll be forever grateful. I look forward to the day when my Lord returns and I will see Charlie once again but until then I'll carry on the great things I have learned from him. I Thessalonians 4:13-18

To my friend Charlie,

Words can’t begin to express the loss that I am now experiencing. You always brought joy to my heart and a smile to my face. Whether you were telling people I was your twin or when you would say, “watch out or I will jump up and punch you in your knee-cap.” I don’t think I will ever go out on another Sunday, for dinner and a movie, and not think of the fun we had. Even when I was out of town, I would always truly miss our time together.

The stories you told are legendary. One of the most pleasing things to me was your reaction to your own stories. The joy and excitement in your face brought warmth to my soul. I can’t explain the connection I felt with you, but I was always at home with you. To me, you were the brother I never had. You have had one of the largest impacts on my life, than just about anyone. I will try to lead a life that you will be proud of. The love that you and Jennifer shared is also an example that I will try to follow. I don’t know of a couple that was as cut as you two. I can only hope to find that in my own life.

You will always be with me, no matter were I go. The experiences ahead of me will carry a piece of you along with it. Thank you for our time together…. Thank you for the memories….. Thank you for being you!

I love you Charlie.

Your friend forever,

Oliver Morton

Charlie, this is a time for grief for our loss of you, a very dear and loved friend. It is also a time of reflection of the joy that you brought Elvis, the guys and the fans around the world. Your humor and great passion for telling jokes, often brought laughter and a good feeling to someone that was down for some reason or other. I have no doubt you will continue telling them in Heaven, well, maybe not some of them, but most of them. The only difference is no one there will be in despair, it will be just for bringing a smile to their hearts.

Your voice will join up not only with Elvis and JD, but with other great voices that are there, making up the Greatest Choir of all. I look forward to someday joining Alan and Richard who are already there, and the rest of the guys as we arrive through the years ahead in just listening to all of you as we did here on earth for so many years. God has called you home and I will miss you.

Jennifer, God Bless you and may his Blessings keep you from the pain and sorrow of your loss. You are such a sweet and wonderful lady and was such a loving and caring wife and friend to Charlie. You took such care of him and gave him a quality of life that he would not have had, if not for your great love for him.

The family and friends I met while in Decatur are in my thoughts and prayers also for their loss. You are such warm and sweet people.

The fans that you have made around the world that have signed your Guestbook with so many eloquent statements and thoughts will miss you also.

So far now, I say "So long my friend." I love you and will miss you.

Goodbye Charles Franklin Hodge of Decatur Alabama, until we meet again. Love, Sonny, Judy, Bryan, Alana and Greg.

March 16, 2006
I am only 6 years old but my Papaw loves Elvis and you were part of that. You must be a fine man for my Papaw to like you.
March 16, 2006
I would like to offer my deepest and most sincere condolences to Jennifer and the rest of Charlie’s family. I only had the honor of meeting “Sir Charles” on a handful of occasions, but his loyalty, humor, straightforwardness and honesty will stay with me forever. I enjoyed his stories of the years with Elvis; giving an insight to the ‘real’ man and not the image. There was no need for him to embellish, as he lived it and told it like it was. You never had to wonder which parts you could believe were true, and I appreciated that most of all. I can only imagine he is up there with those who have gone before him, and they are making beautiful music and having a ball; free of the struggles and pain they endured here on earth.

May God hold Jennifer and family in his loving arms as they slowly heal from this devastating loss, and be comforted by the knowledge that this is just a temporary loss and they will all be together once again in the future. Rest in Peace Charlie.

March 14, 2006
Charlie, you were a wonderful person and everybody that met you loved you. I Remember when we were in Palm Springs and a gal climbed over the fence at Elvis's house. Al and Ricky were gone so we called for your help. Elvis just laid on that lawn chair in disbelief. You came out and took the gal inside where you spent over an hour talking with her. You were the kindest person I've ever seen. We were all ready to call the cops and you made a friend.
I remember you making chocolate syrup for me and the watermelon fight we all had with Elvis. Those were really fun days and you were so kind and sweet. Thanks for the memories my dear old friend.
Your love and kindness was one of a kind. God Bless Your Family and Loved Ones, My Prayers Are With Them At This Very Difficult Time.
I will never forget you, your gentleness and love for others.
I am so glad to find you found someone to love God Bless Her.

My very deepest sympathy goes out to Charlies wife, family and loved ones. The Elvis world has just suffered another great loss, but all Heaven is certainly rejoicing by bringing Charlie home where he belongs. I can just imagine Charlie entering those Pearly Gates to be greeted by King Jesus and the King of Rock and Roll. I wouldn't be surprised if Elvis was the one putting a scarf around his best friends neck and saying - Welcome Home Charlie! Can you just imagine how totally awesome that Gospel Choir and Band are and how truly "GREAT THOU ART" Thanks for the Memories - TCB!
March 13, 2006

I would like to submit my condolences to Jennifer Hodge and the rest of the Hodge-Family for the loss of this wonderful singer and entertainer Charly Hodge.

I cried some tears when I saw that people from all over the world
have written into this Guest-Book.

For me it has been a great and special honour to have met Charly
so many times in diffrent places
of the world...he was always fun and interresting to talk with!

His visit to Switzerland in 1996 will stay unforgetable.

Last time we met, was in fall in Las Vegas 2004...where he gave a great together concert with Terry Mike Jeffrey and many musicians of Elvis.

Charly, now "you will be home again"
with Elvis.....

Not just an Elvis fan but a fan of your own voice, Charlie. You never did receive the credit for what you did during those long tedious Elvis tours, and your harmonies were fantastic. I feel the world missed out on another great musician. All the best up there. At least you can meet your old friend again...

In so much footage and audio material Charlie Hodge is there on the spot, singing, playing the guitar, laughing (what a laugh!), handing things to his king, helping out, joking and being the target of joke himself - what a way to get oneself immortalized!

Do greet Elvis from so many Austrian fans, please and be sure we can acknowledge what you did yourself!

March 07, 2006
The Elvis commmunity of fans and friends has truly lost a most wonderful person. Charlie was a man with a great sense of humour and especially well spoken, he was an individual that accepted all as individuals and was not one to pass judgement and like Elvis Presley would take the shirt off of his back to help out another in need.

Charlie, you will be very missed, I remember when I first met you in 1992 - that will be a day not too soon to forget. (kept in touch with you when time permit, from then itermittently over the years - Charmaine)

We shall meet again some day Charlie, but for now, we are sure that you are probably up with the Angels singing harmony with Elvis!

God Bless Sir Charles,

Love Charmaine and David

LASTING IMPRESSIONS:

I had the distinct pleasure of meeting Charlie at Memories Theater in Pigeon Forge in 2003. Most people, when they first introduce themselves, offer their name and a hearty handshake. Charlie started off by telling me a joke (he certainly needed NO introduction) and kept me laughing backstage and at the signing table after the show. What a character, one that I will always remember as a happy soul who loved to laugh and to make others laugh. Thanks for the laughter, Charlie. Give our best to Elvis. We'll miss you both!
March 07, 2006
Charlie,

March 07, 2006
Charlie, I loved the relationship you shared with Elvis. I enjoyed watching the two of you clown around on stage, making each other laugh even when no one else got the joke! You were a great friend to Elvis and I appreciate the work and dedication you put in for him. Your love and presence will be missed. May you rest in peace as the Lord brings you home. My heart and prayers go out to your family.

My wife Charlene and I send our deepest sympathy to the Hodge Family.
March 07, 2006
First let me express my deepest sympathy to you Jennifer. Charlie & I go back to 1969 at the opening of the International Hotel in Las Vegas. I want to say how much Charlie will be missed by some of of my fellow Security officers that spent so many hours escorting Elvis, Charlie, and the "guys" back and forth from the 30th floor to the dressing rooms. On behalf of Tommy, Alex, Bruno and myself accept our condolences. I can't express how much fun it was to listen to Charlie & Elvis laughing and joking with one another. Then there were the times that they would sing together in the 30th floor suite. It was like listening to angels sing. Thier voices complimented each other. The sounds would melt your heart. Like the time that Charlie played piano & Elvis sang a song over and over for Jack Lord And his wife. It brought tears to ones eyes.
Charlie I will miss you so much. You will be missed by the entire Elvis World. If you should ever need a scarf or a glass of water "just call me" I'm in the book. I'll bring them to both of you. You rest now.I love you.
P.S. when you see HIM tell him Reno says "hey"

Dear Charlie,

You've been a wonderful angel on earth, so it will be an easy job for you in heaven.
We've met in August the 11th 2001 in Memphis in New Daisy Theatre at "Conversations on Elvis". I had the opportunity to thank you for all the lovely things you have done for Elvis and his fans. And I told you that we don't have to be sad, because we will rejoin in heaven where the good times will start again. And we looked at each other and I knew that this was your knowledge in faith too.
Charlie, my thoughts and prayers are with you, knowing that yours will be with us.
You will be loved forever.
by the way: did you know that your name is written on more records than Michael Jackson sold ?

March 07, 2006
I am deeply sadded by the news of Charlie's death. Nobody loved Elvis more than Charlie. He was so much more on stage than a mere back-up singer, scarf dispenser, guitar-catcher or "general flunky," as Elvis affectionately called him. Charlie held the Elvis shows together by conferring with his boss on set lists, song arrangements, harmony vocals and stage blocking. He shouted out song titles to Elvis so he would immediately be able to jump into the next number. But most of all, he was his loyal friend. From the days when the U.S. Randall shipped a soldier boy to Germany and Charlie heard that fellow recruit weeping in his bunk above, he'd tell dirty jokes to keep him from crying. He never left his side from that moment on. Recordings sessions. TV Specials. Concerts. His marriage. His divorce. The birth of his daughter. Charlie was always a part of Elvis life and career.

I met Charlie in '71 when he allowed me into the "midnight movies" with Elvis and the boys. I was invited back later than year at the Memphian and Crosstown. Years later, I met him at the old Hickory Log restaurant in Memphis and we talked about how much it hurt to lose Elvis. At future Elvis conventions, Charlie was always friendly and funny. I'll always remember his wicked sense of humor the most. Speaking on stage in front of an auditorium of fans in Memphis for the 2002 25th Elvis Week events, he choked up with real emotion and couldn't continue when discussing a particularly touching memory of his friend.

Today, I do the same when I think of a man I called my friend. We lose Elvis people every day, but this one really hit hard. Like Elvis, Charlie is immortalized everytime we see him in bit part in a movie he made with Elvis (check out Charlie, the barber, in "Clambake") or a TV special like the '68 Comeback (removing lint from Elvis' face) or Aloha from Hawaii - right by Elvis' side. God bless you Charlie and my deepest sympathy to the family, friends and fans who loved you too. I can see Elvis right now chewing him out for taking so long to arrive up there. Now, the boys are both singing harmony in heaven. How Great Thou Art, indeed.
March 07, 2006
Thank you for the memories a beautiful man as you I know God has a special place for you Adios until we meet again my friend
