Margie Irene Burgess, 93 of Deer Park, Texas passed away peacefully on November 15, 2013. Margie was born on June 27, 1920 in Hunt County, Texas. Margie was one of thirteen children born to Luella and Bill Payne and was the second to the oldest. Margie was a resident of Deer Park for 70 years. Margie was a generous and kind person who enjoyed working in her yard. She always received compliments on her yard and could wear out a blower a year blowing any and all leaves off her driveway sidewalk and street, often several times a day. Margie especially enjoyed the birds and squirrels in her backyard. Margie was always a fixture at City Special events and supported and enjoyed events sponsored by the Parks and Recreation Department. Margie loved Elvis and country music. Margie took great pride and joy in her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. "Memaw" loved having them around, shopping taking day trips, on vacations with them and especially all family holiday functions which were always held at her small house on Third Street. She always wanted everyone to come to her house. Margie was married to W.C. "Claude" Burgess for sixty years prior to his death in 2001. Margie was also preceded by her brothers and sisters and son Gerald Burgess. Margie is survived by her son Doug Burgess and wife Carol Ann of Deer Park; daughter Janice Holleman and husband Jimmy of Deer Park; brother J.L. Payne; grandchildren Wendy Lewis, Deer Park, Greg Holleman and wife Debbie, Deer Park, Cale Holleman ,Deer Park, Randall Burgess, Houston, Jeffrey Burgess, Ouray, Colorado, Paul Hart and wife Sherry, Pasadena and Tracy Hart, Ocala, Florida; great grandchildren Whitney, Brittany, Reece Lewis, Dustin, Jacob, Taylor, Caden and Hunter Holleman; Great Great Grandchildren Brent, Colton, Jordyn and in the near future Logan Lewis, and Seth Villglovos. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 20, 2013 at Grandview Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.
