Daniel M. Mele
AGE: 64 • Hockessin
March 3, 1950 - April 9, 2014
Passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Christiana Hospital.
Born in Wilmington, Daniel was the son of the late Michael and Josephine (Ceci) Mele and graduated from St. Elizabeth High School. He owned and operated Elisabetta Properties and City Lights Realty. He was very proud of Wawaset Park Apartments and the restoration of the building. An avid sports enthusiast, he enjoyed "consulting" with his buddies about games. He treasured his cars, especially his 1961 Lincoln Continental and 1966 Ford Fairlane. He enjoyed his rides around SouthPoint on his Harley. His children, however, were his greatest joy and he loved spending time with his family in Ocean City, MD and hanging in the Green Turtle.
Daniel was a loving father, a good friend and a generous person with a big heart. He will be missed by his children, Michael, William, Gina and Dominic; his former spouse and friend of 28 years, Linda Mele; his brothers, Michael and Raymond Mele; his sister, Joanne Glanden (George); nieces Angela L. Garrett and Kelly A. Pantuliano.; and a host of other nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 15th at 10 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church, 9th and DuPont Streets, Wilmington. Friends and family are invited to visitation on Monday evening between 6 and 8 PM at Mealey Funeral Home, 2509 Limestone Road, Wilmington. Interment will follow the Mass at St. Patrick's Cemetery in Ashland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, PO Box 1000 Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908. MealeyFuneralHomes.com (302) 652-5913
