What a superb sense of humor. Wish I could have known you. Blessings to your family, and thank you for sharing this to the world!
What a wonderful man ... his humor reminded me of my Father who passed many years ago.
Bless you all and I will do as he asked and help someone today less fortunate.
Rest In Peace Walter
Sincere man, beautiful Obitutuary brought me to tears.
Thank you Wayne.
Is it as fascinating to you as it is to me that so many people who never knew Walt would feel compelled to write about him apparently because of his eccentric and humorous obituary - which it seems he wrote himself? Why is it, I wonder, that we never praise until it's after the fact?
The most uplifting obituary I have ever read. Thank you Walter for sharing a part of your life with us.

Thank you for your service to this nation.
Rest in peace you funny man.
Blessings and love to your family.
Signed, a stranger in Oregon who smiled for the first time reading an obituary
I read your grandfathers obituary online at CNN and thought he must have been such a wonderful man and he will be missed by so many. My prayers go out to his family! He is in a wonderful place smiling down on you All.God bless his family for following through on his final wishes!
Sir, from one Veteran to another, Thank You for your service to Our Country.
To your family I am sorry for your loss. Though one should truly know, one does not truly lose anyone, if they keep the fond memories of their dearly departed forever replaying in their hearts. May the brightest memories always make your heart the lightest and your mind at the most ease.
His mother Blanche was my mom's good friend. I was sad to hear he had passed but know his Mom and Dad were there to welcome him into eternity. Good bye to another Chester Avenue alum.
My thoughts and prayers to the family. They only die ....if you let them. Walt sounds like he was a great guy and will be missed. I plan to honor his wishes by an act of kindness...wish I had the opportunity to have known him.
Speaking directly to Walt - (He is certainly the tyupe of person who will be reading this too !) "It is my misfortune to have never met you; but, you certainly sound like my kind of friend. I will honour your wishes, haring a glass of rum with my own wife and will also add funding to the Shriners' hospitals in your name. Thanks Walt, for adding this final jesture of levity to your life."
You sir have touched my heart with your wit and humor. I am happy to have known you only by your obituary, but rather to have known you by that than to not have known you at all. You left a smile on my face and I will be paying it forward as you requested to someone in need. Thank you
Forty years later, Walt, your humor is still unique - and it's a blessing to you and yours. God speed.
Hello. My name is Jason. I reside in Michigan and I often talked to Walter. He has helped me spiritually and mentally and I will sorely miss those conversations. I offer my condolences to his family. He was going to help me and my son with our situation but I know things happen for a reason. He was a great man and I will forever be in his debt. I cn be reached at 313 400 1663 for any information on
I just read about Walter's story on CNN. How wonderful to have such a special remembrance of him penned by his own hand. I am so sorry for your loss and will be praying for your family. May God grant you comfort and peace now and in the days to come.
Like, Walt. Hope that my end will be similar. Best to you and yours.
I read about Walter in an article in my local paper. I have to tell you this made me smile and wish I knew him. I know he's smiling down on you all.
A sense of humor in this world is a must! This man must have brought much joy to your family. My sister passed last October, and we had a celebration of life befitting of her - including a conga line! Many thoughts and prayers for you all.
I read about Walter's obituary on CNN this morning. I know, in a very personal way, how special it is to have someone in your life with such a vibrant sense of humor and so full of life. Almost 10 years ago my sister died of MS. She was sick for about 5 years and knew that she was going to die so she had plenty of time to reflect on her funeral. She had one major request - Monty Python's "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" had to be played. And it was. And my whole family sang along while laughing and crying simultaneously.
Here's to having laughter ever-present - before you're here, while you're here and after you're here. :-)
In all sincerity though, I am very sorry for your loss...it's easy to tell that he was quite an incredible man.
THere's the old saying that music makes the world go round. No - I say laughter. Can you imagine how things might of turned out if Walter had been sent to areas of conflict in the world? He would of made people see things from a different perspective and made them laugh. Thank you for allowing us the privilege of getting to know your dad. My condolences to your family.
Good on ya, Walter. What a gent you are, and am so certain that your family misses that marvelous sense of humor so very much. Blessings! (Save a seat for me on your universal wanderings. I'm certain that a good fellow like yourself has the best seat in the house.)
May your light shine forever, your family was blessed with a wonderful person, oh how lucky.I read the obit early this morning and it brought a big smile and a happy chuckle to my life. My prayers are with The Bruhl family,I will carry out your request and do something for a poor person. May god bless all of you.
He sounds like an awesome person!! You were so lucky to have him! God bless you all!
Bless anyone who would possess the sense of humor to quote a Monty Python sketch in penning his own obit. Walter must have been quite the character....we should all be so lucky to bring so many smiles to the faces of others. My deepest condolences to his family, and thank you to the family for sharing such a wonderful memory of Walter. I intend to go out and do my good deed in his name first chance that I get!
Here's one or more to you Walter. May you rest in peace
I don't know ur family. But Im so sorry for ur loss. I resd ur story u sound that u knew what u had in mind. God bless u.

My sincere condolences to the family for your loss. May your treasured memories and the drawing close to God in prayer help comfort you in your time of sorrow. Jeremiah 29:12,13

I'm thankful that I had the chance to read how people love and remember him. Thank you for allowing so many the oppertunity to celebrate Walter's life. Prayers for all of you through this difficult time.
Semper Fi Walt!!

Vinnie and I and you and Walt spent many days together on the beach. I am so, so, sadden for your loss and I will always remember Walt and the great times we had in Dewey Beach.

WOW!! He must of been a great guy!!! May he rest in peace and enjoy his new journey.
I laughed and cried when I read Mr. Bruhl's obituary…so humorous, yet his passing must be so terribly difficult for his family. I read of his passing not knowing that my mother worked with Mr. Bruhl. He reminds me of my father, who was also very humorous and worked at du Pont-perhaps they all exchanged some laughs. I thought I was the only person who penned his or her own obituary, but I'm glad to see I am not. Mr. Bruhl, thank you for sharing your humor with my mother, probably my father (who died too many years ago to ask him about you), with me and with sooooo many others, thanks to your grandson Sam's original posting. I'm certain you will find happiness, find peace and spread humor where you are now. To the Bruhl family, please accept my heartfelt condolences.
I worked with you during my early days at "good ole DuPont". Enjoy your "celestial" retirement and blessing to your family.
I enjoyed working with you at "good ole DuPont". You lived a good life-now enjoy your celestial retirement!
God Bless the family.
God's speed to a husband, father, grandfather, soldier and wickedly humorous man. First, thank you for your service. And the world is a little less bright tonight, but for the stars he left in the bright eyes of his family and those lucky enough to have known the man. Thank God your young bride had you for the time HE gave you both. I was not lucky enough to have known the Man, and that will forever be my loss. Thanks for showing the mundane how to take the last long walk with a kick in their step. JPFlynn
Even though I don't know you I am going to have a drink in your honor because the world should be filled with more people like you. I know your family will miss you but I hope you enjoy your trip around the universe. You are one cool guy and it is my loss I never had a chance to make your acquantance........
Dude, You rock, and I salute you!!!!! I can only hope I can go out like you. Too awesome.
I saw Walter's obituary. The one he wrote. More people should do this if they can. This kind of thing, allows life, to continue in a way, that helps people look at life, with a little uniqueness, & fun. A great way to be remembered forever & ever. My Condolences to Walter's family & Friends.

What a joyful soul that enriches those of us here on earth. An act of kindness with the humor that this man possessed must have been a daily happiness. His words of his life are being celebrated with laughter and joy. Peace be with the family of Mr. Walter George Bruhl, Jr. May the laughter be forever among you.
will definitely add an extra act just for you!
You were so very fortunate to have this man in your life! It sounds like you will have many good memories to cherish. I wish I would have known him.
To Walter's family and friends you truly had a great man in your lives. Luckily for you, you had a life time to learn and appreciate him. We have not been so lucky; but by his own pen we got a small lesson. You have our sympathy in your great loss. I also called my grandfather - PopPop. That brought me many happy memories, thank you. I will happily do some acts of kindness in his honor. Peace to all of you.
I didn't know you, but you remind me so much of my father, John J. Cronan. I hope that you get a chance to meet my dad because you will indeed enjoy his humor. My Dad too would of loved to be stood up at his funeral holding a cocktail! He actually asked my Mom to have his casket placed in a bar or our living room & a huge cocktail party around him. My mom said no, but it would of been fun. I will do a random act of kindness in your name & my dad. Thank you for the big smiles & laughter you gave me.
How wonderful to have had this man in your lives. I didn't know him; but will think of him and try my best to pay his good deeds forward. RIP and smile!
Cheers to Walt - what an inspirational gift he gave to his loved ones and all those reading his obituary. I will most certainly honor his request and pay it forward in his name! Thanks for sharing.

For I never knew this man , his heart was made of gold S.I. P Mr. Bruhl ....
Please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. I also read about Mr. Bruhl's obituary online and found it inspiring. Even if he "is a dead person; he is no more; he is bereft of life; he is deceased; he has rung down the curtain and gone to join the choir invisible; he has expired and gone to meet his maker...', he is still impacting so many lives. Even though I did not know him personally, I will honor him as he requested....with my beverage of choice (while raising my glass to him) and doing an unexpected, unsolicited act of kindness in his name. Have fun exploring the universe Mr. Bruhl.
Very inspirational....You sir, sounded like one heck of a man! Thank you and your family for your service, and may you rest in peace with your maker!
Mr. Bruhl - I grant your wish for a random act of kindness. Thank you for the laughs and the tears your wit and wisdom brought to me upon reading of your demise.
Walt must have been a wonderful Husband, Dad and Granddad. My sympathy to his family. What a kind man he must have been. I'm sure he will be greatly missed! Wishing all of you comfort and peace!
I worked with Walt for many years at DuPont Eagle Run Plant. Nice gentleman and lots of laughs. So sorry for your loss. He won't be forgotten.
I don't know you all but I saw the story about this obituary online and just wanted to pass on my condolences. I imagine this is a great loss as from this obit he wrote he seemed to be a really great person to have in your life. I have you all in my prayers and I will be giving a random act of kindness to a stranger in his honor. :-)

I read several of articles on Mr. Bruhl's obit. So touching, so personal. It has inspired me to consider writing my own obit. RIP
Only know of Walter from the recent media attention, but he's obviously someone we all would have liked to have known. God bless.
It is obvious that Walter's passing is a great loss for his family and his friends. You have our thoughts and prayers in your grieving. How wonderful that his last thought was to bring a smile to the faces of so many people he never met. He left a mark and that's the measure of a good life. God bless him and his family.
To the family of Mr. Bruhl Jr. his obituary certainly made me smile. Asking others to do kind acts for others is by far the biggest tribute to his life. As a Marine Mom, I want to say to Mr. Bruhl OohRah and Semper Fi. His obituary while humorous is an inspiration to us all. My prayers are with you, his family and to the many friends he leaves behind who will remember him with a smile on their faces.
May the Angels in heaven lift you to the heaven. Thats where a wonderful man like u belongs. Our paths have never crossed but ur obituary put a smile on mine and my families face and for that i thank u. In ur name i will do simple acts of kindness.
Offering our deepest sympathies at this difficult time.
