I did not have the privilege of meeting Mr. McDonald, but heard much of his passion, generosity and legacy as I became more involved in the efforts of Clan Donald USA, where I serve as a chaplain. My prayers are with his family and friends at his passing.

I would like to add my condolences for the death of Ellice McDonald. I only met him two or three times and then only briefly. but my father, Air Vice Marshal Calum Macdonald, always spoke very highly of Ellice and his hard work and ongoing support of the Clan Donald Trust. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Rosa and Ellice McDonald in my role as a police officer. I lost contact with them when I retired and was sad to learn of this most recent passing. Both Mr and Mrs McDonald were always warm and engaging and always took the time to inquire about my job and my family. Mrs. Mcdonald, for her petite stature, was as tough as nails and Mr. McDonald had a great sense of humor. I was always amazed by their generosity and I always enjoyed hearing about their many travels and stories about their grandchildren. We truly have lost a remarkable man and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your loved ones.

It was a great privilege to be part of the social life of Ellice and Rosa several years ago. My late husband, Donald, and I enjoyed the Scottish events, as well as their dinners and the times they came to our home to experience my Swedish cuisine.
Rosa never forgot our wedding anniversary. We would receive beautiful flowers to help us celebrate every year.

Ellice and Rosa McDonald, through their generosity, foresight and thoughtfulness, had an extraordinarily beneficial effect not only on Clan Donald USA and the Clan Donald Lands Trust, but also on Clan Donald as a whole and many Highland organisations. My late husband and I regarded them as dear friends and they influenced me in particular as to what could be possible. Both Ellice and Rosa left an indelible mark on Clan Donald and on many individuals, for which we should all be grateful. I certainly am.

I was so sorry to hear about the loss of Mr. McDonald. I remember him well. I am also very sorry to hear about the loss of Mrs. McDonald and Rosa. I was unaware of their passing. I have such fond memories of your family and the time our family spent at the Bridge House. Your parents always treated our family very well, and Mr. McDonald was a true friend to my father, Harry. After my father's death, Mr. McDonald helped my mother take care of her affairs and always took the time to advise her on financial matters. Mrs. McDonald never missed my father's birthday, and personally delivered flowers to my mother every year. It really is the little things that count in life and make a big impact on others. I believe Mr's death marks the end of an era, and the world will miss the benevolent souls of both Mr and Mrs McDonald.

Right Reverend Douglas and Mrs Pat Cameron. Bishop of Argyll and The Isles from 1993 - 2003.Ellice and Rosa supported the work of the renovation of the Cathedral of The Isles and College on the Isle of Cumbrae. We had a companionship relationship with the Diocese of Delaware. We visited with them at Invergarry. They are remembered with much affection and thanksgiving in Scotland.

Ellice McDonald, Jr., was one of the kindest, most thoughtful and nicest people I have ever known. He did uncounted and untold wonderful things for Clan Donald USA during my time as editor of By Sea By Land. He continued to be a kind friend thereafter. He will be missed by so many.
